Dear customer,

Thank you for choosing VELA Twist, which is certain to give you years of
enjoyable use. The user manual contains useful information on set-up, operation,
maintenance, technical data etc.

IMPORTANT

Please read this manual carefully and keep it for future reference. It must always be readily avail­able to the user. This user manual must always be kept with the chair.

1.1. SAFETY

This chair carries the CE mark and complies with all current EU regulations.

The chair is made by Sowecare, Holland, but distributed by VELA.

The VELA Twists designed for indoor use by people with slight disabilities.

NOTE: We recommend that users of belts should be supervised when the belts are used.

VELA reserves the right to make changes.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Compliace with the EMC-demand according to: IEC 60601-1-2.
Be carefull under use of e.g. mobile phones, high frequency medical equipment. If you have any
questions, please do not hesitate to contact VELA or your local dealer.

BEFORE USE

When the chair is delivered it must be adapted to the user. It is important that all the points below
are checked:

• Charge the battery - it's not necessarily completely filled

• Adjust the width and height of the armrests

• Adjust the seat

• Check the brakes - and all other adjustable parts are tight and not damaged during transporta-

tion.

• Check the cables

• Remember to lock the wheels if you use height adjustment and comes up higher than you can

reach the ground with your feet.

1.2 WARRANTY

VELA refers to the Danish Sale of Goods Act with regard to warranty. The warranty applies only if
original spare parts and accessories are used, and always provided that adjustments are carried out
by authorised service technicians. VELA assumes no liability for damage to the product or injury to
the user as a result of:

• Transport

• Misuse

• Ordinary wear and tear

• Incorrect use

• Using non-original spare parts and accessories

• Adjustments carried out by unauthorised service technicians

1.3. UNPACKING THE CHAIR

VELA Twist is supplied in cardboard packaging which is developed and produced to ensure the least
possible impact on the environment and with focus on ease of use. In case of defects or transport
damage to the chair, please contact VELA immediately. You must not try to repair any damage your­self or start using the chair.

The box in which the chair was supplied should contain:

- VELA Twist fitted with any additional accessories

- This user manual

1.4. MAINTENANCE OF VELA TWIST

We recommend that you have your VELA Twist serviced once a year to identify any defective or
worn parts. However, removable parts should be regularly checked and tightened.

Wheels

Wheels should be regularly checked and cleaned of any fluff etc.

Base

Wash with a mild solution of lukewarm water and pH-neutral washing-up liquid.

Upholstery

The fabric is made of wool, which only needs to be vacuumed occasionally and wiped with a cloth
rinsed in clean water and tightly wrung. Make sure to remove any stains as quickly as
possible. Always use a moist clean, white cotton cloth. For more stubborn stains, use a bit of mild
washing-up liquid. Any incontinence cover should be machine-washed on a gentle cycle.

1.5. GENERAL GUIDELINES

To ensure correct use of the VELA Twist, please note the following:

TRANSPORTATION

Always remember to lock the chair in position when transporting VELA Twist. No one should sit in
the chair while it is being transported.
Temperature during transport: -40 degrees to +70 degrees
Humidity: 15%-95%
Air pressure: ppp up to 1,000 metres above sea level

STABILITY AND BALANCE

VELA Twist is designed to be used on a daily basis in the home. It is intended for quiet, seated work.
All movements in VELA Twist have a bearing on the chair’s centre of gravity. To enhance safety, we
recommend the following:

• Maximum user weight is 125 kg, however the level of activity is a key factor. A person with

extreme movements in the chair should contact a sales consultant before purchase

• The chair is not intended for standing on

• One must gently sit on the chair and not drop onto it.

• When moving the chair, it should always be locked

RECYCLING

Many of the materials used in the chair’s construction can be recycled. Deliver the chair to VELA or our
local recycling centre.

CHARGING

Daily charging is recommended or at least twice every week even if the battery is not empty..
To charge the chair: Place the plug in the jack.

Warning: Do not use the chair while charging.

Upholstery

The fabric is made of wool, which only needs to be vacuumed occasionally and wiped with a cloth

1.6. VELA TWIST USER MANUAL

SEAT HEIGHT
To adjust the seat height, just push the button under the armrest in
either your left or right side.

The height adjustment is only to be used for 10% of time.
E.g. 1 minutte ongoing use, then 9 minuttes pause is mandatory,
or 2 minuttes ongoing use, then 18 minuttes pause is mandatory.

SEAT & BACK TILT
The seat / back tilt are adjusted by using the lever, placed in the
right side, just under the armrest.

BACK T ILT
The back tilt can be adjusted by using the lever, placed on the
right side.

BACK HEIGHT
The back height is changed by using the lever, which is placed on
the back of the chair. Remember to tightend the lever again.

ARMREST
The armrest can be folded up for easy entering/exit of the chair.



BRAKE
VELA Twist brakes by pressing the red handle down on both large
wheels. It is essential to lock both wheels. To unlock the wheels,
press the red handle up.

When the chair is locked, the handle is red as shown in the top
photo, and when the chair is unlocked you see a green label on the
handle.

BACK ANGLE
The back angle can be locked in the needed position by adjusting
the lever on the back.
