GENERAL INFORMATION
TO ENSURE THA T THE REMOTE CONTROL P ANEL IS USED CORRECTL Y, PLEASE READ CAREFULLY THE ENTIRE CONTENTS OF THIS MANUAL.
W ARNINGS
1) The remote control panel should be installed in the room that is most easily accessible for checking the temperature of the environment (normally the lounge).
2) To ensure correct operation of the sensor, the control panel should be positioned at a height of 1.5 metres from the floor.
3) The control panel is supplied with low voltage directly by the boiler. It also contains a buffer battery, which has a minimum life of 4 years and guarantees that the user settings are maintained even when there is a black-out or a break in the boiler connection.
4) It is essential that the control panel be kept well away from heat sources and draughts: as these may affect the accuracy of the room thermostat incorporated in the panel.
5) Do not attempt to open or remove the panel, it requires no maintenance.
6) Do not press against the surface of the liquid crystal display: this could damage the surface itself and cause viewing problems.
7) T o clean the display , simply wipe with a dry cloth: any infiltrating liquid could damage the liquid crystals.
WHAT IS THE REMOTE CONTROL PANEL USED FOR?
The control panel offers the possibility of controlling the operation of your boiler without having to access it directly. The control panel is normally installed in the largest room of the house where it will always be easy to make checks and regulations.
HOW IT IS USED
The control panel has three operating modes:
1) ROOM THERMOST A T
The control panel keeps the temperature of the room constant on the basis of the settings made by the user.
2) PROGRAMMABLE ROOM THERMOSTAT
In this mode, you can programme 2 different temperatures settings for certain periods of the day.
5
3) BOILER CONTROL
In this mode the control panel operates the boiler controls only . It does not control room temperature or ON/OFF periods.
EXPLANA TION OF TECHNICAL TERMS
Heating water: the water that flows through the radiators having been heated in the boiler.
Domestic hot water: the water that flows through the DHW fittings.
Error code: a code that appears on the display and signals any faults in the boiler.
Initial configuration: the configuration set on the control panel when it is switched on for the first time or when it is reset.
Display: the liquid crystal screen on which all the symbols corresponding to the various functions are displayed.
Antifreeze function: the function that prevents a drop in temperature freezing the water that flows in the pipes, causing damage to the heating system. This function is activated when the environmental temperature drops below
6.6 °C.
Reset: the operation that restores the initial configuration of the control panel, clearing all settings made by the user, except for the system time.
Summer operating mode: the mode in which the control panel is to be set when the heating system does not have to be in operation (e.g. spring, summer).
The boiler supplies domestic hot water only .
Winter operating mode: the status in which the control panel is to be set when
the heating system has to be in operation (e.g. autumn, winter).
The boiler can supplies heating and domestic hot water .
Comfort level temperature: the temperature that represents ideal heating for the rooms.
Room temperature: the temperature measured in the room in which the panel is installed.
Outdoor temperature: the temperature measured by the external sensor.
Climatic curve (Linea & Compact only): this is the relation between the outdoor temperature and the calculate flow outlet temperature, required when an external sensor is fitted. The RC05 checks the temperature sensed at the external sensor and calculates the required flow outlet temperature based on the curve that has been set on the RC05 (see installation instructions). The calculated flow outlet temperature ensures optimum comfort and efficiency is maintened. The curve is set by your installer during the installation of the RC05.
Economy level temperature: the temperature setting used during nightsetback or to maintain a minimum temperature level in the property.
NOTE
• The room temperature is displayed in the range from -9.9 °C to 38 °C.
• The outdoor temperature is displayed in the range from -20 °C to 18 °C.
• Temperatures outside these ranges are indicated by means of three dashes “-
- -”.

phase, the display shows the
indicator .
The boiler is turned off when the temperature reaches the value set.
When the
button is pressed, the
system returns to the ROOM THERMOSTA T OFF operating mode (fig. 6).
If used as a timer thermostat, the control panel will enable you to:
• set in advance, for every day of the week, the desired temperature according to specific time bands between which the comfort level temperature (higher) alternates with the economy level temperature (lower). This means that instead of having to set the desired temperature level at all times, the control panel is capable of following the weekly schedule that best suits your needs, making the boiler alternate between comfort and economy settings. The comfort level temperature should be set when you want your ideal room temperature. The economy level temperature should be selected if you want a certain temperature to be maintained in the rooms as a minimum
threshold never to be exceeded (e.g. when you are out or at night).
• set the heating and domestic hot water temperature.

Thermo-regulation (RC05 with external sensor) with Linea & Compact boilers
When external sensor is connected to the RC05, it is not possible to adjust the outlet flow temperature, this is because the flow outlet temperature is adjusted automatically by the RC05 to ensure optimum comfort and efficiency. It is possible to set one of nine different temperature curves (C1 to C9) that will best suit your geographical location and system type. This setting is adjusted by your installer during the installation of the RC05. Further information can be found in the installation instructions.
Thermo-regulation with Hydra boilers (with external sensor)
When external sensor is connected to the Hydra boiler, it is not possible to adjust the outlet flow temperature, this is because the flow outlet temperature is adjusted automatically by the appliance to ensure optimum comfort and efficiency. It is possible to set a unique climatic curve that will best suit your geographical location and system type. This setting is adjusted by your installer during the installation of the external sensor . Further information can be found in the installation instructions.
The heating curve should be set by a competent person at the first ignition of the boiler and written on the box hereafter . For details please refer to the external sensor instruction. If it is necessary set this value operate as follow:
1) Press the
button
2) On the display:

CLEANING FUNCTION
Function enabled in WINTER operating mode. This function is useful when the windows of the room in which the control panel is installed are opened for a given period of time, to prevent the drop in temperature from turning on the boiler and a resulting dispersion of heat. By activating the function, you can stop the control panel from having any control over the room temperature for a period of 30 minutes.
To enable the function:
1) Press and release the button
2) On the display:

WARNING: during the holiday function, the boiler can produce domestic hot water.
COMBUSTION ANALYSIS
This function is not supported by the control panel: when it is activated on the boiler , the display shows the indication CO.
30
F AUL T SIGNALLING
The control panel signals any faults in the boiler’s operation on the display. This function provides information in real time about any faults that have occurred and their exact nature. WARNING: during fault signalling, the boiler functions are disabled.
If a fault occurs:
1) The display shows:
• the indicator
• the error code
Clearing an alarm
To clear the fault signal and restore the boiler’s operation, press and release the (RESET) button and wait for the alarm code to be cleared.
Details of fault code 05
