How to use battery
(Some indications on available battery hours) * When using additional functions such as character input, storage of text message, game or Internet function, battery is consumed more. * Available battery hours vary depending on the service type of the Base Station where the mobile phone is located.
* In the case of long stay in Out of Service Area or frequent stay in the area, battery is consumed more and waiting hours become significantly shorter.
* When radio wave is weak or channel (Base Station) is overlapped, battery is consumed more. * The more times and longer time for making calls and answering calls are, the shorter waiting time gets. * As battery is a consumable item, hours of usage gets gradually shorter compared with the time of purchase.
(Slot Mode: Wireless Base Station regularly communicates with each and every user’s mobile phone in order to identify a location of the phone. This
is what we call Slot Mode. The more the frequency of communication increases, the shorter the waiting hours become. Frequency of communication is decided by the Wireless Base Station and in the case of Korea, the frequency is every 2.5 to 5 seconds.)

Electromagnetic Wave
Mobile Phone transmits and receives high frequency wave when power is on. The Ministry of Information and Communications announced a safety regulation on the influence of the high frequency wave energy to human body and this Mobile Phone was manufactured in compliance with the announcement. The criteria for the protection of human body from electromagnetic in the announcement stipulates the allowable limit of exposure of human body to electromagnetic wave, and the limit includes sufficient allowance regardless of age and health in order to protect the safety of all persons. The stipulated limit for exposure is 1.6W/kg.
In accordance with the Public Notice No. 2000-93 (Measuring Criteria for Absorption Rate of Electromagnetic Wave) by The Ministry of Information and Communications, mobile phones have to go through a test called SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) or Absorption Rate of Electromagnetic Wave and the test result should be within the limit of exposure before the mobile phones are sold after the registration for the Format.
If you want to know further information on the exposure to electromagnetic wave and the SAR figures of the model you have, please refer to the Internet homepages mentioned below:
• EMF (http://www.emf.or.kr) • FCC (http://www.fcc.gov/oet/rfsafety) • FDA (http://www.fda.gov/cdma/consumer)

FCC RF EXPOSURE INFORMATION
Read this information before using your phone
In August 1996 the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of the United States with its action in Report and Order FCC 96-326 adopted an updated safety standard for human exposure to radio frequency (RF) electromagnetic energy emitted by FCC regulated transmitters. Those guidelines are consistent with the safety standard previously set by both U.S. and international standards bodies. The design of this phone complies with the FCC guidelines and these international standards.
Use only the supplied or an approved antenna. Unanthorized antennas, modifications, or attachments could impair call quality, damaged the phone, or result in violation of FCC regulations.
Do not use the phone with a damaged antenna. If a damaged antenna comes into contact with the skin, a minor burn may result. Please contact your local dealer for replacement antenna.
Body-worn Operation
This device has been tested for body-worn operation and meets FCC RF exposure guidelines, and positions the handset at a minimum of 1.5Cm from the body. Use of any body-worn accessories may not compliance with FCC RF exposure guidelines.
For more information about RF exposure, please visit the FCC website an www.fcc.gov
Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) for Wireless Phones
The SAR is a value that corresponds to the relative amount of RF energy absorbed in the head of a user for a wireless handset. The SAR value of a phone is the result of an extensive testing, measuring and calculation process. It does not represent how much RF the phone emits. All phone models are tested at their highest value in strict laboratory settings. But when in operation, the SAR of a phone can be substantially less that the level reported to the FCC. This is because of a variety of factors including its proximity to a base station antenna, phone design and other factors. What is important to remember is that each phone meets strict federal guidelines. Variations in SAR's do not represent a variation in safety. All phones must meet the federal standard, which incorporates a substantial margin of safety. As stated above, variations in SAR values between different model phones do not mean variations in safety. SAR values at or below the federal standard of 1.6W/kg are considered safe for use by the public.
Page 51
51
The highest reported SAR values of SBWVK650C are:
CDMA mode (Part 22)- Head: 0.594 W/kg; Body-worn: 0.919 W/kg PCS mode (Part 24) – Head: 0.585 W/kg; Body-worn: 0.676 W/kg
FCC Radio Frequency Emission
This phone meets the FCC Radio Frequency Emission Guidelines. FCC ID number: SBWVK650C More information on the phone’s SAR can be found from the following FCC website: http://www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid

FCC Hearing-Aid Compatibility (HAC) Regulations for Wireless Devices
On July 10, 2003, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Report and Order in WT Docket 01-309 modified the exception of wireless phones under the Hearing Aid Compatibility Act of 1988 (HAC Act) to require digital wireless phones be compatible with hearing-aids. The intent of the HAC Act is to ensure reasonable access to telecommunications services for persons with hearing disabilities.
While some wireless phones are used near some hearing devices (hearing aids and cochlear implants), users may detect a buzzing, humming, or whining noise. Some hearing devices are more immune than others to this interference noise, and phones also vary in the amount of interference they generate.
The wireless telephone industry has developed a rating system for wireless phones, to assist hearing device users find phones that may be compatible with their hearing devices. Not all phones have been rated. Phones that are rated have the rating on their box or a label located on the box.
The ratings are not guarantees. Results will vary depending on the user’s hearing device and hearing loss. If your hearing device happens to be vulnerable to interference, you may not be able to use a rated phone successfully. Trying out the phone with your hearing device is the best way to evaluate it for your personal needs.
M-Ratings: Phones rated M3 or M4 meet FCC requirements and are likely to generate less interference to hearing devices than phones that are not labeled. M4 is the better/higher of the two ratings.
Page 53
53
Hearing devices may also be rated. Your hearing device manufacturer or hearing health professional may help you find this rating. Higher ratings mean that the hearing device is relatively immune to interference noise. The hearing aid and wireless phone rating values are then added together. A sum of 5 is considered acceptable for normal use. A sum of 6 is considered for best use.
In the above example, if a hearing aid meets the M2 level rating and the wireless phone meets the M3 level rating, the sum of the two values equal M5. This should provide the hearing aid user with “normal usage” while using their hearing aid with the particular wireless phone. “Normal usage” in this context is defined as a signal quality that is acceptable for normal operation.
The M mark is intended to be synonymous with the U mark. The T mark is intended to be synonymous with the UT mark. The M and T marks are recommended by the Alliance for Telecommunications Industries Solutions (ATIS). The U and UT marks are referenced in Section 20.19 of the FCC Rules. The HAC rating and measurement procedure are described in the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) C63.19 standard.
