Computer System Requirements for Windows OS
To be able to download photos and videos to your PC, you will need the following minimum configuration:
Microsoft® Windows XP with Service Pack 3, Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 or Windows 7
Pentium® 4 processor (or above)
1 GB of RAM with 250 MB free hard disk space
16-bit Color monitor, 1024 X 768 recommended screen resolution

To be able to download photos and videos to your MAC, you will need the following minimum configuration:

Inserting Batteries
1. Open the camera‟s battery compartment cover on the right side of the camera.
2. Insert 3 new AAA (1.5V) alkaline batteries according to the polarity shown in the illustration below.
3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.
Warning: Do not remove the batteries before downloading the photos and videos from the camera.
Doing so will erase everything in the camera’s memory.
NOTE: It is recommended to download and save your photos and videos often in order not to lose them
if the battery power becomes too low.

Battery Capacity
Once you have inserted your batteries properly and powered on your camera, an icon appears on the top right
corner of your LCD screen, showing the amount of battery power available.
When the battery indicator falls below 35% it is advisable to download the images to your computer as quickly
as possible so as not to lose them.
Once the batteries run low and the camera turns off, the images will be erased from the camera‟s memory.
Removing the batteries and replacing them with new ones also erases the images from the camera‟s memory.

Powering the Camera ON and OFF
1. Press the Power button to turn the camera on.
2. Press and hold the Power button for a few seconds again to turn it off.
Note: The camera will auto power off after 60 seconds of inactivity.

Changing Camera Mode
Your camera has three main modes:
1. Photo Capture Mode - Use this mode to capture photos with your camera.
2. Video Capture Mode - Use this mode to capture videos with your camera.
3. Playback Mode (for photos and videos) - Use this mode to view the photos and videos you have already taken
with your camera.
When the camera is first powered ON, the Photo Capture Mode will be active.
To change between the Photo Capture Mode and Video Capture Mode, press the Left/Mode button.
To access the Playback Mode, press the Down/Playback button.
When in Photo Capture Mode, this icon will display on the top-left corner of the LCD display
When in Video Capture Mode, this icon will display on the top-left corner of the LCD display
When in Playback Mode, this icon will display on the top-left corner of the LCD display

Menu Navigation
1. Press the Power button to power on the camera.
2. Press the Up/Menu button to enter the menu options.
3. Use the Left/Right button to toggle between the menu options on the screen.
4. Use the Shutter button to select the different submenu features within each menu option.
5. Press the Up/Menu button to save and confirm your selected option.
Main Menu
The Main Menu allows you to select your Photo Capture mode option and specify your camera settings.
Photo Capture Mode Options
The following three Photo Capture Mode options appear as icons in the Main Menu:

Continuous Capture

Photo Capture
Once you have powered on your digital camera, this is the default mode of your digital camera.
You can begin taking photos. Please refer the Capturing Photos section for more details.
Self-Timer Mode
1. Press the Power button to power on the camera and enter Photo Capture mode by default.
2. Press the Up/Menu button to enter the Self-Timer mode. The Self-Timer icon is displayed on the
LCD screen.
3. Press the Shutter button to start the 9-second countdown and take the photo.
The camera emits a beep for each second of the countdown and a double beep for the last three seconds
before the photo is captured.
Continuous Capture:
1. Press the Power button to power on the camera and enter Photo Capture mode by default.
2. Press the Up/Menu button to enter the Menu options. (The Self-Timer icon appears by default.)
3. Press the Left/Right button to select Continuous Capture mode. The Continuous Capture icon
displays on the screen.
4. Press the Shutter button to take 3 pictures continuously.

Camera Setting Options
The following camera setting options appear as icons in the Main Menu:

Photo Resolution
The Photo Resolution menu allows you to choose the desired size of the images taken by your camera. Keep in
mind that images with a higher resolution will also take up more of your camera‟s memory.
1. Press the Power button to power on the camera and enter the Photo Capture mode by default.
2. Press the Up/Menu button to enter the Menu options. (The Self-Timer icon appears by default.)
3. Press the Left/Right button to select Photo Resolution. The Photo Resolution icon displays on the
screen.
4. Press the Shutter button to toggle between the different Photo Resolution options.

5. Press the Up/Menu button again to select and save the desired photo resolution.
Photo Resolution Options:
High resolution (1600x1200 pixels, default mode).
Middle resolution (1280x1024 pixels).
Low resolution (640x480 pixels).
NOTE: At higher resolutions the pictures captured will be clearer but will take up more of the camera‟s memory.
You will therefore be able to take fewer photos at higher resolution than at lower resolution.
An indication of the number of photos that can still be captured for each resolution appears on the bottom left of
the LCD screen once the picture is taken.
Image Quality
The Image Quality menu allows you to select the desired quality level of the images taken by your camera.
Keep in mind that images with a higher image quality level will also take up more memory on your camera.
1. Press the Power button to power on the camera and enter the Photo Capture mode by default.
2. Press the Up/Menu button to enter the Menu options. (The Self-Timer icon appears by default.)
3. Press the Left/Right button to select Image Quality. The Image Quality icon displays on the screen.

4. Press the Shutter button to toggle between the different Image Quality options (listed below).
5. Press the Up/Menu button again to select and save the desired Image Quality.
Image Quality Options:
High Quality.
Low Quality (default mode)
Frequency
The options in the Frequency menu represent the frequency of the electrical current in fluorescent lighting
sources in your locale. If your camera is set to a frequency that does not match your country‟s electric current,
you may see waves on the images taken by your camera.
1. Press the Power button to power on the camera and enter the Photo Capture mode by default.
2. Press the Up/Menu button to enter the Menu options. (The Self-Timer icon appears by default.)
3. Press the Left/Right button to select Frequency. The Frequency icon displays on the screen.
Select the correct frequency for the present conditions you find yourself.
4. Press the Shutter button to toggle between the different Frequency options (listed below).
5. Press the Up/Menu button again to select and save the desired Frequency.
Frequency Options:
50Hz (Europe, Japan) ; 60Hz (United States, Asia)

Format
You can use the Format Camera Memory menu to delete all of the content that is currently on your camera‟s
memory. Keep in mind that formatting the memory will permanently delete all of the content on your camera‟s
memory.
1. Press the Power button to power on the camera and enter the Photo Capture mode by default.
2. Press the Up/Menu button to enter the Menu options. (The Self-Timer icon appears by default.)
3. Press the Left/Right button to select Format. The Format icon displays on the screen.
4. Press the Shutter button to toggle between the Format options (listed below).
5. Press the Up/Menu button again to select and save the desired Format option.
Format Options:
- Format: Automatically DELETES all images (photos and videos) on your camera‟s memory.
- Cancel: Exits without deleting images and returns to taking photos in Photo Capture mode.
NOTE:
Please use this feature only after you have downloaded all the images to your computer. Once format
the images/video are lost forever and cannot be retrieved.

Capturing Photos
When the digital camera is first powered ON, the camera will be in Photo Capture Mode by default.
The Photo Capture mode allows you to capture pictures with your digital camera.
Taking Individual Photos
1. Compose your shot using the LCD screen. Direct the camera at the scene you would like to capture.
2. Hold the camera steady and press the Shutter button.
3. A beep will sound and the red LED indicator on the front of the camera will light up, indicating that the photo
has been taken. Do not move the camera until you hear the beep. Moving the camera while taking the
picture will cause the photo to blur.
After each photo is taken the number of photos left to shoot at this photo resolution and quality is displayed
at the bottom- right of the LCD screen.
If there is not enough battery power, two quick beeps will sound, indicating that the photo cannot be taken.
If the camera‟s memory is full, two quick beeps will sound, indicating that photos cannot be taken. In order
to continue taking photos you will need to download the photos on the camera to the computer and then
delete them from the camera.

Capturing Video
The Video Capture Mode allows you to capture videos with your digital camera.
When the camera is first powered ON, the camera will be in Photo Capture Mode.
Press the Left/Mode button once to access the Video Capture Mode.
1. Press the Power button to turn on the camera.
Remember: Toggle between the camera modes by pressing the Left/Mode button until the Video icon
appears in the top left corner.
2. Press the Shutter to start recording your video.
The recording length is displayed on the bottom-right of LCD screen.
3. Press the Shutter button again to stop recording and automatically save the video in AVI format.
Playback Mode
The Playback Mode allows you to review and delete your photos and videos that you‟ve already taken with you
camera.
When you first turn on the camera, the camera will be in Photo Capture mode by default.
Press the Down/Playback button to open the Playback Mode.
The latest captured image appears on the LCD screen.
If there are no images stored the „No Image‟ icon appears on the LCD screen -

To navigate in the Playback Mode:
1. Press the Power button to turn on the camera.
2. Press the Down/Playback button on your camera in order to view all the photos and videos that are
presently on your camera.
3. Press the Left/Right button to navigate between the photos and videos.
4. To exit the Playback mode, press the Down/Playback button.
To play a selected Video:
1. In Playback mode, press the Left/Right button to select the video you would like to view.
2. Press the Shutter button to start the video playback.
3. Press the Shutter button again to stop the video playback.
Delete Options
Delete a Single File
1. Press the Left/Right button to select and view the image (photo or video) you would like to delete.
2. Press the Up/Menu button in Playback mode.
3. A Delete Single Photo icon appears on the LCD screen with the following 2 options:
- Delete: Automatically DELETES the selected image (photo/video)
- Cancel: Exits without deleting the image and returns to Playback mode.

4. Press the Left/Right button to toggle between the Delete Single File options.
5. Press the Up/Menu button to confirm your selected option.
Delete All Files
1. Press the Left/Right button to select and view the image (photo or video) you would like to delete.
2. Press the Up/Menu button in Playback mode.
3. Press the Shutter button to enter Delete All Files menu.
4. A Delete All Files icon appears on the LCD screen with the following 2 options:
- Delete: Automatically DELETES all images (photos and videos).
- Cancel: Exits without deleting all images and returns to Playback mode.
5. Press the Left/Right button to toggle between the Delete All Files options.
6. Press the Up/Menu button to confirm your selected option.
NOTE: If you delete photos and videos from your camera before downloading them to your computer, the
files are completely erased from your camera’s memory and will be lost with no recovery.

Installing the Vivitar Experience Image Manager Software
1. Insert the installation CD into your CD-ROM drive.
PC: The Vivitar Experience Image Manager will begin to install.
MAC: Click icon to begin installation then click “Continue”.
2. Please review the license terms.
PC: Click the “I accept the terms of this license agreement” and then click “Next” to continue.
MAC: Click “Continue” to accept the license agreement.
3. On PC: Let the “Vivitar Experience Image Manager” installer create the folder to where the program will
be installed, and then click “Install”.
On Mac: Click “Install”.
4. Please wait while the application continues the installation process on your computer. Follow all
instructions.
5. On PC: Click the “Close” button when the installation is complete. The application automatically opens.
On MAC: After the installation is complete, the application automatically opens.
6. If you closed the application, click on Vivitar Experience Image Manager desktop icon or open and run the
application from the Programs menu on your computer.

Connecting your Camera to the Computer
1. Use the USB cable that came with your camera to connect your camera to your computer.
2. Your camera will automatically turn on.
3. The first time you connect the device to the computer you will have to wait a few moments until the
computer recognizes the device.
Getting Photos and Videos from your Camera to your Computer
Connect your digital camera to your computer using the USB cable. Do not disconnect the cable during transfer.
Doing so will cancel the transfer of any files on their way to your computer.
Important: Download your images often to your computer. Images left on the camera will be deleted if
the battery power runs low or when the batteries are removed.

1. Select the “Get Images” button from the Main menu.
2. The “Get Images from device” window opens.
3. Both photos and videos (if you have captured any) will get downloaded.
4. Select your camera model from the device window. If your camera is the only device connected then it will
be selected automatically.
5. Select a location on the computer where to place the new photo and video files.

6. Add the new photo and video files to albums if desired.
7. Select to remove the media files from the selected device after the import.
8. Click the “Get Media” button to transfer the photos and videos from your camera to your computer.
A media download progress window appears in the middle of the screen showing the number of media
files downloading to your computer. A message appears when the download is complete.
9. The photo and video files that you selected are now downloaded to your computer to the selected folder
and albums ready for your use.

Transferring Images from my Camera to my Computer Manually
Transferring Photos and Videos: WINDOWS
1. Use the USB cable that came with your camera to connect your camera to your computer.
2. A window appears with a list of options, select “Open folder to view files” and click OK.
3. Open the DCIM folder and the folder inside to view the media files.
4. Select the media and copy the files from this folder into your computer. Optionally, select the files and
choose Copy from the Edit menu. Then select a folder and choose Paste from the Edit menu.
5. We recommend that you copy the images into the Pictures/My Pictures folder and the videos into the
Videos/My Videos folder.
6. Do not disconnect the cable during transfer. Doing so will cancel the transfer of any files on their way to your
computer.
Transferring Photos and Videos: MACINTOSH
1. Use the USB cable that came with your camera to connect your camera to your computer.
2. The camera‟s device icon appears on the desktop.
3. Click on the device icon and open the DCIM folder and the folder inside to view the media files.
4. Select the files and drag them into your computer. Optionally, select the files and choose Copy from the
Finder‟s Edit menu. Then select a folder and choose Paste from the Edit menu.
5. We recommend that you copy the images into the Pictures folder and the videos into the Movies folder.
6. Do not disconnect the cable during transfer. Doing so will cancel the transfer of any files on their way to your
computer.

Sakar Warranty Card
This warranty covers for the original consumer purchaser only and is not transferable. Products that fail to function
properly UNDER NORMAL USAGE, due to defects in material or workmanship. Your product will be repaired at no
charge for parts or labor for a period of one year.
What Is Not Covered By Warranty:
Damages or malfunctions not resulting from defects in material or workmanship and damages or malfunctions from
other than normal use, including but limited to, repair by unauthorized parties, tampering, modification or accident.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I have taken photos and selected the “Get Images” button. I get a message that the images were
successfully transferred but the photos do not appear on my computer. What do I do?
First ensure that you have in fact taken photos. Press the Shutter button to take some sample photos and then
try downloading them again.
With test photos if the camera powers off before you upload them to the computer the photos are not stored in
the camera‟s memory. These photos should be uploaded quickly before the camera powers off. If the photos
are saved to the SD memory card then all the photos should appear.
Q: How do I make sure I don't lose important pictures?
This camera uses SDRAM memory, which requires a constant electric current to store your photos.
Should your camera lose power (for instance if the battery dies or run out of power) all stored pictures will be
lost. We recommend always downloading your photos to your computer as soon as possible to prevent
unintentional data loss.
Q: I deleted images using the Vivitar Experience Image Manager. The images were also deleted from my
computer. How do I recover images that I accidently deleted?
All images deleted using the Vivitar Experience Image Manager are sent to your computer‟s Recycle or Trash
Bin and can be retrieved from there.
