Introduction
Thank you for purchasing this camera. Everything you need to take quality digital Videos (AVI) and Photo (JPG) is included with your camera. Vivitar makes capturing those special moments as easy as possible.
Please read this manual carefully first in order to get the most out of your digital video camera.
NOTE:
Your camera requires an SD Memory card (up to 32GB) for normal use.
SD Memory cards are not included and need to be purchased separately. For best video performance of your device, it is strongly recommended to use a high speed SD Memory card of Class 4 or higher. Class 4 cards are usually marked with .
This camera is a Plug and Play device. You can download the pictures and videos captured
by your camera without the software by directly accessing the camera’s memory card from
your computer. It is recommended however that you install the Vivitar Experience Image Manager Software to enjoy the full Vivitar experience.

Initial Camera Setup
INSTALLING THE BATTERIES
INSTALLING THE MEMORY CARD
Slide open the battery cover on the front of the camera. Install 2 x AA batteries with the correct polarity, as illustrated inside the battery compartment. Slide the cover to close the battery compartment. Alkaline batteries recommended.
SD Memory card (up to 32GB) needed for normal use. For best video performance, it is strongly recommended to use a high speed SD Memory card of Class 4 or higher.
NOTE: Please turn off the camera before installing the SD Memory card.

FIRST TIME INITIAL SETUP
When powering the camera ON for the first time the camera will take you through the INITIAL CAMERA SETUP.
Powering the Camera ON
1. BATTERIES: Make sure the batteries have been inserted properly into your digital video camera. Alkaline batteries are recommended. Slide the battery cover on the front of the camera in a downward direction to open the cover. Insert 2x AA (1.5V) batteries (not included) with the correct polarity, according to the polarity illustrated inside the battery compartment.
NOTE:
Rechargeable batteries are not recommended for use.Remove the batteries from the camera when not in use for an extended period. Do not mix alkaline and non-alkaline batteries. Some features, if they are included with your camera such as Flash, will not work if the
battery power level is low.
When the battery power is low the battery icon turns red and the camera will
automatically turn off a few seconds later. The energy status of the power is displayed on LCD as shown below: Full battery power Medium battery power Low battery power
2. SD MEMORY CARD: Make sure an SD Memory card has been properly inserted into your camera.
The Memory Card slot is located on the side of your digital video camera. To properly insert the SD Card: Push the SD card gently into the slot in the direction shown on the camera (see SD icon by the SD card slot). Press the SD card until you hear a slight clicking sound. This indicates the SD card has been inserted correctly.
NOTE:
After the camera is powered on, an SD icon appears on the LCD display. If you do not
see the SD icon on the display, please check if the card was inserted properly.

Make sure the SD card is not locked (check the lock switch on the side of the SD card). If
the SD card is locked this will prevent the camera from saving captured photos to the SD card.
3. POWER ON: Press the POWER button, on the side of the camera, to turn on the camera.
Setting the Camera Language
You will be prompted to select a language for the camera.
1. The Language selection menu appears.
2. Select the language of your choice by pressing the UP or DOWN direction control
buttons.
3. Press the SET button to confirm the selection and exit the setup.
After selecting a language, you will be asked if you would like to continue with the initial camera
setup. A message will appear: “Continue with Camera Setup?” Select “Yes” to continue or “No” to exit the setup.
NOTE: If you select “No” and decide to leave the camera setup, the camera will be set to its default settings. These settings can be adjusted at any time manually through the menus in the camera.
Setting the ViviLink Default Option
Once you have selected “Yes” to continue the setup, you will be asked to set the default ViviLink destination for photos and videos taken with your digital camcorder.
The ViviLink technology allows you to quickly and easily upload your camcorder’s photos and
videos to the social networks of your choice with the accompanying Vivitar Experience Image Manager Software application.
1. First you will be asked to choose the default ViviLink social network for Photos and then for Videos.
2. Use the UP and DOWN buttons to highlight the desired default social network and press the SET button to confirm the selection for Photos and then for Videos.
Congratulations! Your digital camcorder is now ready to use!

Main Camera Modes
VIDEO CAPTURE MODE
Use this mode to capture videos with your digital video camera. This is the default mode when the camera is powered ON. To take a video, aim your camera as desired and press the Shutter button to start the record. A blinking record indicator will appear on the LCD screen while record is in progress. To stop the record, press the Shutter button again. The video will be automatically saved to your camera’s memory card. To access the various menus for the Video Capture mode, press the SET button while in the Video Capture mode.
PHOTO CAPTURE MODE
Use this mode to capture pictures with your camera. After turning on your camera, press the MODE (M) button once to open the Photo Capture mode. To take a picture, aim your camera as desired and press the Shutter button. The picture will be automatically saved to your camera’s memory card. To access the various menus for the Photo Capture mode, press the SET button while in the Photo Capture mode.
PLAYBACK MODE (PHOTOS & VIDEOS)
Use this mode to view and manage the photos and videos on your camera. After turning on your camera, press the MODE (M) button twice to open the Playback mode
for photos and videos. You can scroll through the photos and videos that you’ve previously
taken to view, edit or delete them as desired. To access the various menus for the Playback mode for photos and videos, press the SET button while in the Playback mode.
Your camera has different modes for the various camera functions. You can switch modes by pressing the MODE (M) button on your camera after the camera has been powered ON.

Powering the Camera On/Off
Make sure the batteries have been inserted properly into your digital camera. Make sure an SD card has been inserted into your camera. SD card up to 32GB - SD Card
not included. Please see Initial Camera Setup for more information.
POWERING THE CAMERA ON
Press the Power button to turn your camera ON.
After powering on, the camera emits a sound. The LCD screen turns on with your camera in Video Capture mode to start.
POWERING THE CAMERA OFF
While the camera is on, you can press the Power button again at any point to turn your camera OFF. A “Goodbye” screen appears and then the camera will power off completely.
POWER SAVE
Your digital video camera also has an Auto Power Off feature that automatically turns off your camera after a specific period of time that your camera is left idle. The Auto Power Off settings can be set from the Auto Power Off setting in the Video Capture Mode or Photo Capture Mode menu.

Changing Camera Mode
Your camera has three main modes:
1. Video Capture Mode - Use this mode to capture videos with your digital video camera
2. Photo Capture Mode - Use this mode to capture photos with your digital video camera.
3. Playback Mode (for photos and videos) - Use this mode to view the videos and photos you have already taken with your camera.
When the camera is first powered ON, the Video Capture Mode is active. The icons that appear on the LCD screen are the best default settings so that you can begin to capture and enjoy clear quality videos and photos. To change the active camera mode, make sure the camera is powered ON and press the MODE (M) button.
When in Video Capture Mode, this icon will display on the top-left corner of the LCD display.
When in Photo Capture Mode, this icon will display on the top-left corner of the LCD display.
When in Playback Mode, this icon will display on the top-left corner of the LCD display.

Navigating the Menus
Each camera mode has a set of menus specific to that mode.
1. Press the SET button to open the menus for the current mode.
2. Press the LEFT or RIGHT button to scroll between the various menus for the current mode.
3. Press the UP or DOWN button to highlight the desired menu option.
4. Press the SET button to select and save the highlighted menu option.
5. If the selection can be remembered by the camera, a selection icon appears to the right of the selected menu option. Changes made to these options remain until you change them again at a later time. Some menu options are single-use functions that are not remembered by the camera and do not display the selection icon when selected.
6. At any time you can press the MODE (M) button to exit the menus and return to the previous screen.
NOTE:
For most menu settings, an icon reflecting your selection displays on the LCD screen. The settings are saved by your digital camera until you manually change the setting or
restore the camera’s default factory settings.

Camera Feature: ViviLink
VIVILINK OPTION
The ViviLink technology allows you to quickly and easily upload your camera’s photos and videos
to the social networks of your choice with the accompanying Vivitar Experience™ Image Manager application. A ViviLink destination can be assigned to a photo or video in Playback mode.
ViviLink: Playback Mode
A ViviLink destination can be added to a captured image by accessing the ViviLink menu in Playback mode. Simply select an image and then select the ViviLink.
1. After powering on your camera, press the MODE button twice to enter Playback Mode.
2. Press the UP or DOWN button to select your photo or video to which you would like to add a ViviLink.
3. Press the SET button to open the menu options and press the RIGHT or LEFT button to select the ‘ViviLink’ option.
4. Press the UP or DOWN button to select the desired ViviLink option and then press SET to save your selection and exit the menu.
5. The selected ViviLink icon appears on the image. You can use this menu option to change the ViviLink at any time.

Video Capture Mode
The Video Capture Mode allows you to capture videos with your digital camera. When the camera is first powered ON, the camera will be in Video Capture Mode.
The video icon appears on the top left corner of the LCD.
TAKING A VIDEO
1. Selecting the Scene with the LCD Display: While in Video Capture mode, use the LCD display to direct the camera at the scene you would like to capture.
NOTE: The amount of time available for recording video appears on the top right of the LCD screen.
2. Zoom Options: Press the Right - T/Zoom In and Left - W/Zoom Out buttons to better set the camera display if desired.
3. Capturing the Video: STANDARD SCREEN MODE:
START: Press the Shutter button to START the video capture.
The elapsed time appears on the top right corner of the LCD screen. A blinking red record indicator appears on the LCD screen while record is in
progress.
STOP: To stop recording the video, press the Shutter button again.
The video is automatically saved to the camera’s SD Memory Card. FLIP SCREEN MODE: You can also capture your videos using the Flip Screen. When you would like to quickly and easily include yourself in the video, simply flip the LCD display out and hold the camera facing towards you. Make sure you can see yourself within the scene on the LCD screen, look at the lens, then press the Shutter button to begin recording and press again when you would like to stop recording your video. It’s as easy as twist and shoot!

However, videos recorded at lower resolution are of less quality than videos recorded at the higher resolution. Remember, the amount of time that you can capture videos also depends on the size of the SD memory card inserted as well as the video resolution selected.

Your digital camera has a four-directional pad that functions as Quick Function buttons.

VIDEO CAPTURE MODE MENUS
The following are the menus that appear in your camera’s Video Capture Mode:
In the image below, the selection icon appears by the default settings. Once you change a setting, the setting is saved by your camera until you manually change the
setting or restore the camera’s default factory settings. The selected setting appears with a check mark.
Scene Menu
The ‘Scene’ menu allows you to choose scene settings that let your camera to adapt properly to
your current environment.
NOTE: Remember: The ‘Scene’ menu is also accessible by pressing the UP Quick Function Button while in Capture Mode.
1. Press the SET button to open the menus for the current mode.
2. Press the LEFT or RIGHT button to scroll and select the ‘Scene’ menu.
3. Press the UP or DOWN button to highlight a specific option.
4. Press the SET button to confirm and select the highlighted menu option. A selected option icon appears on the selected item.
