EAR PROTECTION
EAR PROTECTORS
APPLICATION: When worn properly and given adequate care, ear protectors provide excellent protection which filters high levels of noise that are encountered in an industrial environment.
STANDARD NUMBER: This hearing protector complies with the requirement of European Standard EN352-1: “Hearing Protectors – Safety Requirements and testing – Part 1”.
MARKING: The following markings can be found on the cups.
CE mark with number of the European Standard. Certification notified body = 0700 (INRS)
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
1. Extend headband to maximum “open” position and place the cups over the ears with the headband passing over the
head.
2. Settle the headband in position on the head while adjusting the height of the ear cups until they feel comfortable
and the headband rests on top of the head to support the muffs.
3. The ear cushions should be a snug fit against the head.
4. Adjust to the correct pressure on the head by forced bending of the headband to ensure an effective noise seal.
5. Put the ear protectors on before exposing yourself to noise, and wear at all times during exposure to excess noise
levels.
MAINTENANCE:
1. Before use inspect all parts for damage, especially the ear cup cushions. All damaged parts should be replaced.
2. Ear cushion may deteriorate with use and will need to be replaced as follows: (a) Pull off old cushion, remove old absorber. (b) Fit new absorber then fit new cushion, ensuring that the skirt of the cushion fits neatly over the cup.
CLEANING: Clean with warm soapy water. Do not use organic solvents or alcohol for cleaning. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow to dry naturally.
STORAGE: When not in use, it is recommended to store the ear protectors in a clean, dry environment for optimum protection.
WARNINGS:
These ear protectors are of “normal size range” complying with EN352-1: i.e. designed to fit the majority of wearers. If in doubt, do not use and seek professional advice. If information on this leaflet is not adhered to, safety can be greatly undermined. This product may be adversely affected by certain chemicals. If in doubt further information should be sought from the supplier.
EAR CAPS
APPLICATION: The Ear Cap is hearing protector with a foldable headband and reusable, replaceable earplugs. It can be worn over-the-head, behind-the-head or under-the-chin. Weight including headband: 10g.

Subjective attenuation according to ISO 4869 – 1: 1990. Institute: BIA, Germany. Test report No. 9606892. Notified body No. 0121 – BIA, Germany
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
1. Unfold the headband
2. Place the hearing protector in the desired position. Holding the headband by its ends, insert the plug with a slight
rocking and twisting motion, while pulling the outer ear upwards and backwards to straighten the ear canal.
3. In the presence of background noise (below 80 dB), check that the plug attenuates noise well without any leakage.
4. Wear the plugs during the entire noise exposure.
MAINTENANCE: The earplugs should be regularly inspected for serviceability.
CLEANING: After use, clean the plugs with mild soap and warm water.
STORAGE: The plugs should be stored before and after usage in a way that protects them from dirt, grease, etc.
WARNINGS: This product may be adversely affected by certain chemical substances. Please note that the protection afforded by the earplugs can be severely impaired, of the above recommendations are not followed.
CORDED AND TAPERED EAR PLUGS
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
1. With clean hands, roll the plug between your fingers into a very tight cylinder and insert it with a slight rocking and
twisting motion while pulling the outer ear upwards and backwards to straighten the ear canal.
2. Let the plug expand in the ear canal for approx. 30 seconds. In the presence of background noise (below 80 dB),
check that the plug attenuates noise well without any leakage.
3. Choose the right size plugs for a proper fit. If neither of the two sizes fits, please choose another type of Vitrex
hearing protector before entering the noise area.
4. Wear the plugs during the entire noise exposure.
