MANAGE TOOL
On entering the MANAGE TOOL menu you will see the following options
Those most commonly used by customers and installers are as follows.
DISK MANAGE
The DISK MANAGE sub-menu allows you to format your drives and set up on-screen alarm messages to alert the driver if there is an error with a drive.
The format function is very important as for optimum performance it is recommended that the drives are reformatted at regular intervals (to clear any bad data or corrupted memory segments).
Whenever a new drive is inserted into a DVR it is recommended that it is reformatted on the DVR before the vehicle enters service.
To Format the Drive
Use the arrow buttons on the r/c to highlight the DISK SELECT option, press the ENTER button to change the drive (SD = SD Card, HD = HDD)
Using the arrow buttons highlight FORMAT and press the ENTER Button on the r/c to format
Drive Failure Alarm Message
Use the arrow buttons on the r/c to highlight the option box and press the ENTER button to change the setting.
To save a change use the arrow buttons on the r/c to highlight the SAVE option and press the ENTER button to make the changes.
Note: Make sure that you only turn on the Alarm for drives that you have installed.

OSD SET
The OSD SET sub-menu allows you to define what information is shown on the AV output and what information is recorded with the video.
As has been described previously use the arrow and ENTER buttons on the r/c to highlight and change the settings (unless otherwise described).
REAL TIME DISPLAY
Use this option to display the time on the monitor.
Normally this will be turned on (YES)
RECORD OVERLAY DISPLAY
Use these options to configure what information is embedded (watermarked) with the Video.
Normally only Time and Number (Vehicle Reg.) are selected.
DEF CHANNEL and Delay
The Def Channel defines the default AV channel/ channels that are output to the monitor – the options are to show an individual camera, a split screen (2 cameras side by side), or all 4 cameras.
The Delay option sets the time for which all 4 cameras are displayed on the AV Output before the output is switched to the default AV channel. This feature is used to allow the driver to check all cameras are working before leaving the depot.
To change the delay time highlight the time and use the numeric buttons on the r/c to set the new time. To delete a number press the DEL button on the r/c.
To save a change use the arrow buttons on the r/c to highlight the SAVE option and press the ENTER button to save the changes.

Page 5
SYSTEM SET
The SYSTEM SET menu contains the Recording, Alarm and Network settings of the DVR.
On entering the SYSTEM SET menu you will see the options shown above
BASIC SET
The BASIC SET contains the basic information on the DVR and Vehicle.
As has been described previously use the arrow and ENTER buttons on the r/c to highlight and change the settings (unless otherwise described).
Please note that the other setting
IDLE TIME, DEVICE NO, MAIN INFO, NAME, REMARK, BLIND VALUE
… are only used for systems supplied with live-view and/ or Wi-Fi capability and their functionality is covered in a separate manual
DATE TYPE sets the displayed Time Format.
Sets the TIMEZONE (We recommend that this is set as GMT +0 as otherwise you have to manually change this on every system every time the clocks change).
In the NUMBER box you can enter the Vehicle Registration number which will be watermarked onto the recorded video.
To enter the registration number highlight the box and press ENTER. This will call up a virtual keyboard which you can use to select numbers and letters using the arrow keys and ENTER button. When you have set the number press the ESC button to exit.
DATE sets the system Date and Time
To change the time and date use the numeric buttons on the r/c to set the new time. To delete a number press the DEL button on the r/c.
Note if a GPS connected the date and time will update automatically (but not the Time Zone).
Highlight the SAVE option and press the ENTER button on the r/c to save the changes.
Page 6
REC SET
The REC SET settings define the recording characteristics of the DVR.
As has been described previously use the arrow and ENTER buttons on the r/c to highlight and change the settings (unless otherwise described)
All Vision systems will be PAL unless specifically ordered to be otherwise.
We recommend using 4D1 (all channels recorded at D1 Resolution) or 2D1_2CIF = Channels 1 & 2 recorded at D1, Channels 3 & 4 at CIF Resolution (This option increases recording time for a small reduction in quality on what are normally the less critical cameras).
Auto Record Mode is used for 95% of Vehicle applications as means DVR always records when it is running.
If recording 4 cameras set bit rate to 1600 as processor capacity cannot process data any faster.
NORMAL mode means that the oldest video is overwritten when memory device is full.
ALARM DELAY sets time period after an alarm event occurs that video is recorded for.
PRE RECORD sets time before an alarm event that video is recorded for.
Note that Alarm Files will not be overwritten when memory is full
The TIME SLICE is the time period over which a video file is saved if the DVR is not turned off – we recommend it is set at 30 minutes
The SD Function is important to understand:
LOST REC configures the DVR so that if the HDD does not exist (or is faulty) the video will be recorded to the SD Card – so all SD
Card DVR’s must be configured with this
setting. This also allows a HDD DVR to have an SD Card back up should the HDD fail.
NO REC only records video to the HDD.
MIRR REC records video to both SD card and
HDD
The ENCRYPT function is not currently supported
These settings set up the recording configuration for each camera channels individually.
To select the camera to be configured highlight the CHANNEL number and press ENTER on the r/c to change the channel number.
Always set the QUALITY setting to 1 (best quality)
We recommend a FRAME RATE of 15 (15 fps) which offers the best compromise of quality and file size.
Turn RECORD ON only for those channels that are to be recorded (recording channels with no cameras connected just wastes storage space).
Turn AUDIO to record sound – But note that only Channel 1 and 4 have audio hardware connected.
TIME LIST is used with the TIME setting (under the RECORD MODE options) so that the DVR only records between pre-set times
The SUB-STREAM setting is used with LiveView systems and use is covered in a separate manual.
Highlight the SAVE option and press the ENTER button on the r/c to save the changes.
Page 7
POWER SETUP
The POWER SETUP configuration defines how the DVR will run.
As has been described previously use the arrow and ENTER buttons on the r/c to highlight and change the settings (unless otherwise described).
SECURITY
The SECURITY configures access to the Menus.
As has been described previously use the arrow and ENTER buttons on the r/c to highlight and change the settings (unless otherwise described)
ACC RECORD should always be set to NORMAL.
For most applications the DVR should be set up to ACC.
This means that whenever there is a voltage on the accessory live wire (Yellow wire on the Power Plug) the DVR will start running.
The TIME option is used to automatically start and stop the DVR between pre-set times.
DELAY TIME sets how long after ignition off (accessory live “see’s no voltage) the DVR keeps recording for.
To change the time and date use the numeric buttons on the r/c to set the new time. To delete a number press the DEL button on the r/c.
POWER ON TIME and POWER OFF TIME are used with TIME Mode to turn the DVR ON and
OFF at PRE-SET times.
Highlight the SAVE option and press the
ENTER button on the r/c to save the changes.
DELAY POWER OFF should be ON to activate the DELAY TIME.
We recommend that the PASSWORD is turned OFF but to ensure that that the DVR settings
cannot be tampered with Passwords can be added.
To set a password turn PASSWORD ON and enter and confirm the passwords using the numeric keys on the r/c (password is numeric).
Highlight the SAVE option and press the ENTER button on the r/c to save the changes.
Page 8
ALARM SET
Use the ALARM SET to configure the alarm functionality of the DVR.
The DVR has 6 Alarm Inputs (I/O 1-6) - which correspond to the white wires on the Interface Connector labelled AL1-6 respectively, and 1 Alarm output.
Note the Alarms Inputs also have a turn off delay feature so can be connected directly to an indicator light circuit. The alarms will activated if “see” a voltage >3.5Volts.
As has been described previously use the arrow and ENTER buttons on the r/c to highlight and change the settings (unless otherwise described).
To use the ALARM OUTPUT, SPEED and MOVE DETECT functions please call Vision UK to ensure that these options are configured - and the Interface Connector wired - correctly to provide the desired functionality.
The G-SENSOR function is explained on the following page.
Set ENABLE to ON to enable a specific alarm
To record an alarm file when an alarm is activated set RECORD to ON.
Alarm files should only be recorded for important but infrequent events as alarm files will not be overwritten and can quickly fill up the available memory.
To activate an alarm when a voltage is applied to the trigger wire set PWL to HIGH.
A FUNCTION name can be assigned to individual alarms.
LEFT, RIGHT, BRAKE descriptions will be embedded with the recorded video when the corresponding alarm is triggered.
The RELATE setting assigns a Channel number to an alarm so that when that alarm is triggered the DVR will display that channel on the AV output.
To turn on the DVR’s alarm
output when an alarm input is triggered set the OUTPUT to ON.
Highlight the SAVE option and press the ENTER button on the r/c to save the changes.
Page 9
G-SENSOR
Regardless of the configuration the DVR will records G forces with the Video footage.
However the G-Sensor can be configured to record an alarm file and/or send an alarm output when a G threshold level is exceeded
NETWORK
The NETWORK settings are only used on DVR’s with Live View and/or Wi-Fi Capability (although the DVR can also be used as part of a wired Network). The use of these functions is covered in a separate Manual
To provide an output when a G level alarm has been activated turn the OUTPUT ON.
Set ALARM SWITCH to ON to turn on the G-SENSOR alarm.
Set the THRESHOLD VALUES to set the Trigger levels for a G-Level alarm to be activated.
Note the z: value is a vector value of the x-y-z forces.
If the G Sensor is not correctly zeroed (for example DVR not quite flat) use ADJUST button to zero the sensor
Highlight the SAVE option and press the ENTER button on the r/c to save the changes.
Page 10
PLAYBACK
