Vintage Cellars Removing Marble Granite Tops User Manual

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR
REMOVING GRANITE OR MARBLE TOP
Caution:
Granite or marble tops are heavy and may cause bodily injury if not properly handled.
hinder a safe working area.
Three people are required to remove or install the top.
Granite and marble tops are secured to the cabinet with Velcro strips. The Velcro seal can be broken and the top can be removed by using common nylon monolament line (shing line). We suggest 20 pound test line or greater.
1. Secure each end of the nylon line around an object such as a wooden spoon or dowel rod. This will prevent injury to hands.
2. Begin by positioning the nylon line underneath the marble top overhang at one end of the cabinet. (Figure 1)
3. With one person at each end of the nylon line, bring the line taut and begin a back-and-forth cutting motion to break the Velcro seal. Continue to move the line from one end to the other as the Velcro seal is broken.
4. A third person is needed to apply an upward lift (Figure 2) so that the Velcro does not re-seal. Do not use the nylon line to lift the top. The nylon line may break under the weight of the top.
