DISHWASHER OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE TIP SHEET
With your purchase of the world’s most powerful and intelligent dishwasher, you have joined the elite
world of Viking ownership. Your Viking dishwasher is designed to offer years of reliable service. To ensure
optimum performance, follow the instructions below.
BEFORE LOADING THE DISHWASHER
• Scrape your dishes but do not pre-rinse.
• Remove any food soils such as mustard, mayonnaise, lemon juice, vinegar or salad dressing from your
stainless steel flatware as these food soils can cause rusting and pitting if allowed to remain on the
flatware.
• Scrape off tomato based products from dishes as this can discolor plastic dishes and some dishwasher
parts.
• Load the dishes so they do not nest or overlap. This causes food to become trapped and the water
from not being able to reach the food and remove.
OPTIMAL WASH PERFORMANCE
• Add fresh and dry detergent to the dispenser. Old or moist detergent may not completely dissolve.
One tablespoon per fill area should be sufficient to clean normally soiled dishes. Fill both fill areas for
heavier soiled dishes.
• Hot water is needed for optimum cleaning. Turn on the hot water faucet nearest the dishwasher and
clear the line of cold water. Hot water should be 120°F.
• For increased wash performance, select the NORMAL WASH cycle and the HI TEMP WASH option.
• When washing heavily soiled items or numerous pots and pans, select the POTS/PANS cycle.
• To sanitize the dishes, select the NORMAL WASH cycle and the SANITIZED 155°F RINSE option.
OPTIMAL DRY PERFORMANCE
• Fill the rinse agent dispenser, as rinse agent greatly improves drying, reduces spotting, filming and
moisture left on the dishwasher interior.
• The dishwasher is set to dispense rinse agent at level 2 and should remain at this setting if in a soft
water area. Increasing rinse agent with soft water can cause foaming and for the dishwasher to not run
properly.
• If in a hard water area increase the rinse agent setting. To adjust the setting, remove the cap and turn
to a higher number.
END OF CYCLE NOTIFICATION
• The dishwasher will chime at the end of the cycle to indicate the cycle is complete.
• Some models have a blue light located in the middle of the kickplate to indicate the dishwasher is
running.
• Some models also have a CLEAN indicator light on the control panel to indicate the dishes are clean.
MAINTENANCE
• Check and clean filters periodically.
• For hard water areas, clean/descale the dishwasher as necessary using a dishwasher cleaner or vinegar.
• To remove odors, use a detergent with chlorine bleach.
