Recognize Safety Symbols, Words, Labels
Read and follow all instructionsbefore using this
appliance to prevent thepotential risk of fire, electric
shock, personal injury ordamage to the appliance as
a result ofimproper usage of the appliance. Use
appliance only for itsintended purpose as described
in this manual.
To ensureproper and safe operation: Appliance
must be properlyinstalled and grounded by a
qualified technician. DO NOTattempt to adjust,
repair, service,or replace any part of yourappliance
unless it is specificallyrecommended in this guide. All
other servicing should bereferred to a qualified
servicer.
To Prevent Fire or Smoke Damage

Be sure allpacking materials are removed from the
appliance before operatingit.
• Keep area around appliance clear andfree from
combustible materials, gasoline, and other
flammable vapors and materials.
• If appliance is installed near a window, proper
precautions should betaken to prevent curtains

rom blowing overbur ners.
• NEVER leave any items on the cooktop.The hot air
from the ventmay ignite flammable items and may
increase pressure inclosed containers which may
cause them to burst.
• Many aerosol-type spray cans are EXPLOSIVE
when exposed to heatand may be highly
flammable. Avoid theiruse or storage near an
appliance.
• Many plastics are vulnerable to heat.Keep plastics
away from partsof the appliance that may become
warm or hot. DONOT leave plastic items on the
cooktop as they maymelt or soften if left tooclose
to the vent ora surface element.
• Combustible items (paper, plastic, etc.)may ignite
and metallic items maybecome hot and cause
burns. DO NOT pourspirits over hot foods.
In Case of Fire
Turn offappliance and ventilating hood to avoid
spreading the flame.Extinguish flame, then turn on
hood to removesmoke and odor.
• Smother fire or flame in apan with a lid or cookie
sheet.
• NEVER pick up or move a flamingpan.
• DO NOT use water on grease fires. Use baking
soda, a dry chemicalor foam-type extinguisher to
smother fire orflame.
Important notice regarding pet birds:
NEVER keeppet birds in the kitchen or inrooms
where thefumes from the kitchencould reach. Birds
have a verysensitive respiratory system.Fumes
released dueto overheated cooking oil,fat, margarine
and overheatednon-stick cookware may beequally

DO NOT heat emptycookware or let cookware boil
dry. Thecookware can absorb an excessive
amount of heat veryquickly, resulting in possible
damage to the cookwareand ceramic glass.
Cookware Safety
•
Use pans with flatbottoms and handles that are
e
asily grasped and staycool. Avoid using unstable,
warped, easily tipped orloose-handled pans. Pans
with heavy handles (especiallysmall pans) could be
unstable and tip easily. Pansthat are heavy to
move when filled withfood may also be hazardous.
• Be sure cookware is large enoughto properly
contain food and avoidboil overs. Pan size is
p
articularly important in deepfat frying. Pan should
accommodate the volume offood that is to be
added as well asthe bubble action of fat.
• To minimize burns, ignition offlammable materials
and spillage due tounintentional contact with the
cookware, DO NOT extendhandles over adjacent
burners. ALWAYS turn pan handlestoward the side
or back of theappliance, not out into the room
where they areeasily hit or reached by children.
• NEVER let a pan boil dry asthis could damage the
cookware and theappliance.
• This appliance has been tested for safe
performance using conventional cookware.DO
NOT use any devicesor accessories that are not
specifically recommended inthis guide. DO NOT
use eyelid covers forthe surface units. The use of
devices or accessories thatare not expressly
recommended in thismanual can create serious
safety hazards, resultin performance problems, and
reduce the lifeof the components of the appliance.
Heating Elements and Glass Ceramic
Cooking Surfaces
• S
urface areas onor adjacent to the unit maybe hot
enough to cause burns.
• NEVER
touch the glass surfaceareas directly on or
adjacent to the heatingelements when the rangetop
is in use.
• Heating
elements may be hoteven though they are
dark in color. Areas nearelements and interior
surfaces of an ovenmay become hot enough to cause
burns.
•
During and after use,DO NOT touch or let clothingor
other flammable material contactsurface of rangetop
or areas nearheating elements until they have had
sufficient time tocool.
•
DO NOT COOK ONBROKEN COOKING SURFACE –
If cooking surface shouldbreak, cleaning solutions and
spillovers may penetrate thebroken cooking surface
and create arisk of electric shock. Contact aqualified
technician immediately.
Ceramic Glass Cooktop
All products arewiped clean with solvents at the
factory to removeany visible signs of dirt, oil,and
grease which mayhave remained from the
manufacturing process. Clean yourglass top before
the first time you useit. A thorough cleaning with a
glass top cleaner isrecommended.
Cookware
• Each cook has his or her ownpreference for the
particular cooking vessels thatare most
appropriate for thetype of cooking being done.
Any and all cookware, including Viking cookware,is
suitable for use onthe cooktop and it is not
necessary to replaceyour present cookware with
commercial cookware. Thisis a matter of personal
choice. As with anycookware, yours should be in
good condition and from excessive dents onthe
bottom to providemaximum performance and
convenience.
