Surface Indicator Lights
T
he surface indicator lightsare located at the front

f the glass cooktop.The hot surface indicator light will glow redwhen the corresponding element is heated. The light willremain on after turning offthe control knob untilthe corresponding element has cooled to a safetemperature.

Recognize Safety Symbols, Words, Labels

In Case of Fire
Turn offappliance and ventilating hood to avoid spreading the flame.Extinguish flame, then turn on hood to removesmoke and odor.
• Smother fire or flame in apan with a lid or cookie sheet.
NEVER pick up or move a flamingpan.
DO NOT use water on grease fires. Use baking soda, a dry chemicalor foam-type extinguisher to smother fire orflame.

Cookware Safety
Use pans with flatbottoms and handles that are e
asily grasped and staycool. Avoid using unstable, warped, easily tipped orloose-handled pans. Pans with heavy handles (especiallysmall pans) could be unstable and tip easily. Pansthat are heavy to move when filled withfood may also be hazardous.
• Be sure cookware is large enoughto properly contain food and avoidboil overs. Pan size is p
articularly important in deepfat frying. Pan should accommodate the volume offood that is to be added as well asthe bubble action of fat.
• To minimize burns, ignition offlammable materials and spillage due tounintentional contact with the cookware, DO NOT extendhandles over adjacent burners. ALWAYS turn pan handlestoward the side or back of theappliance, not out into the room where they areeasily hit or reached by children.
NEVER let a pan boil dry asthis could damage the cookware and theappliance.
• This appliance has been tested for safe performance using conventional cookware.DO NOT use any devicesor accessories that are not specifically recommended inthis guide. DO NOT use eyelid covers forthe surface units. The use of devices or accessories thatare not expressly recommended in thismanual can create serious safety hazards, resultin performance problems, and reduce the lifeof the components of the appliance.
Heating Elements and Glass Ceramic Cooking Surfaces

urface areas onor adjacent to the unit maybe hot
enough to cause burns.
NEVER
touch the glass surfaceareas directly on or adjacent to the heatingelements when the rangetop is in use.
• Heating
elements may be hoteven though they are dark in color. Areas nearelements and interior surfaces of an ovenmay become hot enough to cause burns.
During and after use,DO NOT touch or let clothingor other flammable material contactsurface of rangetop or areas nearheating elements until they have had sufficient time tocool.
DO NOT COOK ONBROKEN COOKING SURFACE – If cooking surface shouldbreak, cleaning solutions and spillovers may penetrate thebroken cooking surface and create arisk of electric shock. Contact aqualified technician immediately.
Ceramic Glass Cooktop
All products arewiped clean with solvents at the factory to removeany visible signs of dirt, oil,and grease which mayhave remained from the manufacturing process. Clean yourglass top before the first time you useit. A thorough cleaning with a glass top cleaner isrecommended.
Cookware
• Each cook has his or her ownpreference for the particular cooking vessels thatare most appropriate for thetype of cooking being done. Any and all cookware, including Viking cookware,is suitable for use onthe cooktop and it is not necessary to replaceyour present cookware with commercial cookware. Thisis a matter of personal choice. As with anycookware, yours should be in good condition and from excessive dents onthe bottom to providemaximum performance and convenience.
