Antenna Installation Instructions
1. Outdoor Antenna Grounding
If an outside antenna or cable system is connected to the product be sure the antenna or cable system
is grounded so as to provide some protection against voltage surges and built-up static charges, Article
810 of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, provides information with regard to proper
grounding of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna discharge
unit, connection to grounding electrodes, and requirements for the grounding electrode.
2. Lightning
For added protection for this product during a lightning storm, or when it is left unattended and unused
for long periods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable system.
This will prevent damage to the product due to lightning and power-line surges. Do not disconnect the
antenna or the power cord during a heavy storm lighting may strike while you are holding the cable
cord, causing serious injury; turn off your LCD TV and wait for the weather to improve.
3. Power Lines
An outside antenna system should not be located in the vicinity of overhead power lines or other electric
light or power circuits, or where it can fall into such power lines or circuits, When installing an outside
antenna system, extreme care should be taken to keep from touching such power lines or circuits as
contact with them might be fatal.
Cleaning the LCD TV
• Make sure the LCD TV is turned off.
• Never spray or pour any liquid directly onto the screen or case.
To clean the screen:
1. Wipe the screen with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth. This removes dust and other particles.
2. If still not clean, apply a small amount of non-ammonia, non-alcohol based glass cleaner onto a clean,
soft, lint-free cloth, and wipe the screen.
To clean the case:
1. Use a soft, dry cloth.
2. If still not clean, apply a small amount of a non-ammonia, non-alcohol based, mild non-abrasive
detergent onto a clean, soft, lint-free cloth, then wipe the surface.

Installing the LCD TV
Remove the Stand
If you prefer to mount your new ViewSonic TV on a wall instead of attaching it to the stand. Please
referencethe instructions included in the wall mounting kit (not included).
IMPORTANT: Disconnect the Stand from the TV with the bottom foam packaging material still attached.
Read all instructions before dismantling the stand.
A) Lift foam packaging material from the TV box.
B) Remove the top foam and bottom foam of the TV set.

C) Remove the protective bag from the LCD unit, but DO NOT remove the bottom foam packaging
material.
D) Locate the place on the front of the TV to take off the stand and enscrew four screws between the
stand and the TV set, and then remove the stand from it .

Refer to the owners manual of any external equipment to be connected. When connecting any external
equipment, do not connect any AC power cords to wall outlets until all other connections are completed.
Connecting TV Cable or Antennas
Antenna Connection
The antenna requirements for good color TV reception are more important than those for a black & white
TV reception. For this reason, a good quality outdoor antenna is strongly recommended. The following is a
brief explanation of the type of connection that is provided with the various antenna systems.
A 75-ohm system is generally a round cable (not included) with
Ftypeconnector that can easily be attached to a terminal withouttools.

Cable TV (CATV) Connection
This reminder is provided to call the CATV system installers attention to Article 820-40 of the National
Electrical Code (NEC) that provides guidelines for proper grounding and, in particular, species that the
cable ground shall be connected to the grounding system of the building accurately, or as close to the point
of cable entry as possible. Use of this TV for other than private viewing of programs broadcasted on UHF,
VHF or transmitted by cable companies for the use of the general public may require authorization from
the broadcast/cable company, and/ or program owner.
A 75-ohm coaxial cable connector is built into the set for easy hookup.When
connecting the 75-ohm coaxial cable to the set, connect the 75-ohm cable into the
ANT. Terminal.
Some cable TV companies offer premium pay channels. Since the signals of
these premium pay channels are scrambled, a cable TV converter/ descrambler is
generally provided to the subscriber by the cable TV company.
This converter/descrambler is necessary for normal viewing of scrambled channels.(Set your TV to channel
3 or 4, typically one of these channels is used. If this is unknown, consult your cable TV company.) For
more specic instructions on installing cable TV, consult your cable TV company. One possible method of
connecting the coverter / descrambler provided by your cable TV company is shown in the diagram below.
• The RF switch (not included) is required to provide two inputs (A and B). Settingthe RF switch
to position A allows viewing of all unscrambled channels byusingthe TV channel keys.
• Setting the RF switch to position B allows viewing of all scrambled channels viathe converter/
descrambler by using the converter channel keys.

3. Press the button on the remote or the power button on the side of the TV to turn on the LCD TV.
Always disconnect the LCD TV from the main voltage when the LCD TV will not be used for
a long period of time. The POWER button on the side of the TV is only used for switching the
LCD TV into standby, it does not disconnect the device from the main voltage. To completely
disconnect the main voltage, please remove the power plug from the socket.
4. Press the source button on the remote to select TV( AIR/CABLE), or HDTV (AIR/CABLE).

To turn the TV power ON
Put the TV where it can be easily viewed, connect the power plug of AC voltage at the back of the TV set,
the LED indicator lamp turns red, then press the Power key. When the LED indicator lamp turns to blue,
the TV set power is on. It takes a few seconds before the picture appears.
To turn the TV power OFF
Press the Power key to make the TV go into the Standby Mode, disconnect the power plug from the wall
outlet.
NOTE
The TV will automatically enter into the standby mode, if the TV has not a signal input and no function is
performed for 5 minutes except that the input source of the TV is HDTV. If you are not going to use this
TV set for a long time, turn off the set and disconnect the power plug from the wall outlet.
When the user presses MENU or Source key, it enters a MENU or source MENU. The user can press
CHANNEL+/CHANNEL- to move the cursor up/down and press VOLUME+/VOLUME- selects a
parameter to increase/ decrease. Pressing Source to conrm which is the same as “Enter”on the remote.

OSD Lock Function
If TV is power on mode and press the MENU key on the keyboard for about 5 continuous seconds, the
OSD will show”Menu Lock on”. Menu key on TV set will be invalid. Then you can release the OSD lock
state by pressing the MENU key on the keyboard for about 5 continuous seconds.
Power Lock Function
If TV set is power on mode and press the Source key on the keyboard for about 5 continuous seconds, the
OSD will show “power lock on” .And the power key on TV set will be invalid. Then you can release the
power lock state by pressing the Source key on the keyboard for about 5 continuous seconds.

Wide Screen Viewing
Wide Screen function allows viewing of 4:3/16:9 images in wide screen mode, cycling through the
following wide screen setting. Press the WIDE button repeatedly to select the screen format you want.

2. FULL Mode:

Customizing the HDTV Setting
1. With the LCD TV connected to a television programming source ,press the Source button to switch the
input source to HDTV.
2. Press the MENU button on the remote control to display the main menu, and use the ◄► buttons to
select the HDTV.
3. Press the ▼ button to select Auto Scan, and press the Enter button. The Auto Scan automatically starts
and creates list of receivable channels. Press the MENU button at any time to interrupt the memorization
process. (The list cannot be created if interrupted)
4. Press the Enter button to display the channel list. Press a channel button to select a station or use the “ .”
Along with the 0 to 9 buttons to select a digital channel.
The digital main channel might include many subchannels (for example 9-1, 9-2..) that are
showing program at the same time.

The Program Guide feature brings all sorts of information provided by the cable TV broadcasting company
to your screen, Such as program title, Program duration, time remaining, rating information, closed

Using the V-CHIP Setting
The US has 2 rating systems for viewing content: Movie blocking(MPAA) and TV Blocking. The TV
Blocking works with the V-CHIP to help parents block inappropriate programs from their children. The
Movie blocking(MPAA) is used for original movies rated by the Motion Picture Association of American
(MPAA) as broadcasted on cable TV and not edited for television.The V-CHIP can also be set to block
MPAA-Rated Movies.
1. Use the ▼ button to select the V-CHIP, and press the OK to display the V-CHIP menu.
2. Use the V-CHIP function, must enter a four-digit password. The factory password is 0000.
3.The MPAA includes the following options.
RATING: DESCRIPTION
G: General Audiences, Movie is appropriate for all ages
PG: Parental Guidance Suggested .May contain material not suited for younger

Troubleshooting Tips
Before calling for service, you can check the following items on symptoms and solutions.
No picture:
Check another channel, maybe station problem.
Adjust the tuning control.
Ensure that the input setting is in TV state.
Ensure that the LCD is on.
Ensure that the equipment is connected properly.
No sound and distorted sound:
Ensure that the input settings for the TV and sound are proper.
Adjust the tuning control.
Probably local interference, such as an appliance.
Re-orient aerial(if indoor type).
Ensure that the equipment is connected properly.
No remote Control:
Check the batteries are installed with the correct polarity.
Point the remote control unit at the remote control sensor and operate.
Remove the obstacles between the remote control and the remote control sensor.
Operate the remote control unit at a distance of not more than 8 meters from the remote control sensor.
Troubleshooting tips(PC mode):
“NO SIGNAL” or “POWER SAVE” displayed
Check if the input cable is connected correctly.
Ensure the computer or other equipment are turned on.

RF INTERFERENCE
Moving ripples across the screen are caused by nearby transmitting or receiving short-wave radio
equipment.
DIATHERMY
Herringbone pattern and partial picture loss can result from the operation of diathermy equipment from a
nearby doctor s surgery or hospital.
SNOW
Weak TV signals from long distant stations result in an instead picture and give the effect of falling snow.
An antenna adjustment or antenna amplier may be needed.
GHOST
Multiple image caused by TV signals reflected back from surrounding buildings, hills, aircraft, ect. Is
minimized by correct aerial positioning.
CAR IGNITION
Nearby cars and electrical motors can cause small streaks across the picture or make the picture roll.

What the warranty covers:
ViewSonic warrants its products to be free from defects in material and workmanship, under normal use, during the warranty period. If a
product proves to be defective in material or workmanship during the warranty period, ViewSonic will, at its sole option, repair or replace the
product with a like product. Replacement product or parts may include remanufactured or refurbished parts or components.
How long the warranty is effective:
ViewSonic LCD TVs are warranted for 1 year for all parts excluding the light source and 1 year for labor from the date of the rst customer
purchase.
Who the warranty protects:
This warranty is valid only for the rst consumer purchaser.
What the warranty does not cover:
1. Any product on which the serial number has been defaced, modied or removed.
2. Damage, deterioration or malfunction resulting from:
a. Accident, misuse, neglect, re, water, lightning, or other acts of nature, unauthorized product modication, or failure to follow
instructions supplied with the product.
b. Repair or attempted repair by anyone not authorized by ViewSonic.
c. Any damage of the product due to shipment.
d. Removal or installation of the product.
