Chapter 1
Precautions and Safety Notices
1. When replacing the lamp, use care to avoid burns to your fingers. The lamp becomes very hot
during operation.
2. Never touch the lamp with your fingers as body oil transferred to the lamp can damage the
lamp’s useful life.
3. Never drop the lamp or jar it in any manner. This may cause the lamp to burst.
4. This projector is provided with a high voltage circuit for the lamp. Do not touch any electric
part or component after the projector has been turned on and is operating. Doing so could
induce a severe shock causing injury or death.
5. Do not touch the exhaust fan, nor block its air flow, during operation, as the fan is hot.
6. Use only the cables which are included with the projector, or are specified in this manual.

Trouble shooting
Cautions when replacing the Optical Engine and Main board :
◎ 1 Make sure the 24LC128 on main board U14 always goes with its original
Optical Engine one by one when you replace the main board or Optical Engine.
◎ 2 Make sure the direction of 24LC128 on main board.
◎ 3 Execute “ C&B calibration “ and “ Keystone calibration “ when you replace
Main board every time. Otherwise the screen will miss gray level or become keystone
distortion.( please refer to page P37 and P38)

1.1The color parameter is kept in 24LC128 ( locate U14 ) ,
and the color parameter is different due to different optical engine.
1.2View Sonic will provide a new U14 with a new optical engine when you must to change an
engine , and the U14 was be adjusted with the optical in ViewSonic factory.
1.3When you replace an optical engine or main board , please confirm the U14 has to always goes
with its original optical engine one by one.
2.1Make sure the the direction of 24LC128 on main board , the mark (*) at the left side.

3.1C&B calibration function for picture performance can become optimal by your signal input.
3.2Keystone calibration function for the project can correct keystone automatically.
