Cause Remedy
The batteries are spent. Change the batteries (see next chapter).
The Vitotrol 100 has a battery backup of 3 min. If you replace the batteries within this time, all set details will be retained. After the power reserve has been exceeded, carry out a reset (see next chapter).
Note
If the batteries are not changed, the display switches off. Central heating and DHW heating are carried out according to the settings on the boiler control unit.

Disposal
Batteries/rechargeable batteries should not be disposed of in domestic waste. Always dispose of spent batteries/ rechargeable batteries via an authorised collection site.
■ Use only alkaline batteries, 1.5 V Mignon alkaline cells, type LR6/AA that do not contain noxious substances.
■ Never use rechargeable batteries.
■ Replace both batteries every 18 months.

Energy saving tips
Use the Vitotrol 100 setting options:
■ Do not overheat your rooms. Every degree of room temperature reduction saves up to 6% of your heating bills. Never set your room temperature higher than 20 °C (see page 13).
■ Select the program that meets your current requirements: – For short absences (e.g. shopping
trips), select "Economy mode" (see page 17). As long as economy mode is activated, the room temperature is reduced and DHW heating is off.
– If you are going away, set the "Hol-
iday program" (see page 15). As long as the holiday program is activated, the room temperature is reduced and DHW heating is off.
– If you don't want to heat the rooms
and you don't require DHW for an extended period, select operating mode "Frost pr." (see page 12).
Further recommendations:
■ Correct ventilation/airing. Briefly open windows fully and at the same time close the thermostatic radiator valves.
■ Close roller shutters (if installed) at dusk.
■ Set thermostatic valves correctly.
■ Never cover radiators or thermostatic valves.
■ Controlled DHW consumption: A shower generally uses less energy than a full bath.
