1.1 Sicherheitshinweise
Vorsicht:
Verletzungsgefahr!
Für die Montage sind Werkzeuge nötig.
Stromschlaggefahr!
Die Anschlussdrähte niemals in eine Steckdose
einführen! Verwendetes Versorgungsgerät
(Transformator, Netzteil) regelmäßig auf Schäden überprüfen. Bei Schäden am Versorgungsgerät dieses keinesfalls benutzen!
Alle Anschluss- und Montagearbeiten nur bei
abgeschalteter Betriebsspannung durchführen!
Ausschließlich nach VDE/EN-gefertigte Modellbahntransformatoren verwenden!
Stromquellen unbedingt so absichern, dass es
bei einem Kurzschluss nicht zum Kabelbrand
kommen kann.
1.2 Das Produkt richtig verwenden
Dieses Produkt ist bestimmt:
- Zum Einbau in Modelleisenbahnanlagen und
Dioramen.
- Zum Anschluss an einen Modellbahntransformator (z. B. Art.-Nr. 5200) bzw. an einer Modellbahnsteuerung mit zugelassener Betriebsspannung.
- Zum Betrieb in trockenen Räumen.
Jeder darüber hinausgehende Gebrauch gilt als
nicht bestimmungsgemäß. Für daraus resultierende
Schäden haftet der Hersteller nicht.
1.3 Packungsinhalt überprüfen

1.1 Safety instructions
Caution:
Risk of injury!
For installation tools are required.
Electrical hazard!
Never put the connecting wires into a power
socket! Regularly examine the transformer for
damage. In case of any damage, do not use the
transformer.
Make sure that the power supply is switched off
when you mount the device and connect the
cables!
Only use VDE/EN tested special model train
transformers for the power supply!
The power sources must be protected to prevent the risk of burning cables.
1.2 Using the product for its correct purpose
This product is intended:
- For installation in model train layouts and
dioramas.
- For connection to an authorized model train
transformer (e. g. item-No. 5200) or a digital
command station.
- For operation in dry rooms only.
Using the product for any other purpose is not approved and is considered incorrect. The manufacturer is not responsible for any damage resulting
from the improper use of this product.

2. Einleitung
Die Steuermodule für Lichtsignale Art.-Nr. 5220 –
5223 dienen der einfachen und vorbildgerechten
Ansteuerung aller Viessmann Standard-Lichtsignale. Durch besondere Technik erfolgt der Wechsel zwischen den einzelnen Signalbildern wie
beim Vorbild fließend (die LEDs glimmen nach).
Die Signale werden direkt an die Steuermodule
angeschlossen.
Das Steuermodul Art.-Nr. 5220 wird grundsätzlich
nicht separat über Taster etc. geschaltet, sondern
über das Steuermodul (Art.-Nr. 5221 – 5223) des
nachfolgenden Licht-Hauptsignals angesteuert.
Dieses Vorsignal-Steuerungssystem ist kompatibel mit der Vorsignalsteuerung der Hobby-Lichtsignale, bei denen sich die Steuerelektronik im
Signalfuß befindet.
Zusätzlich ist in das Steuermodul Art.-Nr. 5220
die sogenannte „Dunkeltastung“ eingebaut. Denn
wenn sich ein Vorsignal zusammen mit einem
Hauptsignal am gleichen Mast befindet, so wird
dieses Vorsignal beim Vorbild abgeschaltet („dunkelgetastet“), sobald das Hauptsignal am gleichen
Mast „Halt“ zeigt. Hierdurch wird eine Fehldeutung
des Signalbilds durch den Lokführer vermieden.
3. Einbau
Befestigen Sie das Steuermodul mit den beiliegenden Schrauben an einem geeigneten Platz auf
oder unter Ihrer Modelleisenbahnanlage.
4. Anschluss
4.1 Anschluss von Versorgungsspannung
und Signal
Zur Spannungsversorgung schließen Sie das Modul über die oben links liegenden Buchsen („bn“
und „ge“, d. h. braun und gelb) an den 16 V-Wechselspannungsausgang eines Modellbahntransformators (z. B. Art.-Nr. 5200) an.
Das Lichtsignal wird an die unten am Steuermodul
befindlichen, mit den Farben der entsprechenden
Signal-LEDs bezeichneten Buchsen angeschlossen.
Der gemeinsame Rückleiter des Lichtsignals (an
dem sich die Diode befindet) wird an die braune
Buchse („bn“) des Steuermoduls angeschlossen
(= „Masse“), siehe Abb. 1.
2. Introduction
The control modules for colour light signals item-No.
5220 – 5223 provide a simple and exemplary control of all Viessmann standard colour light signals.
Special technology enables prototypical transition
between signal aspects by first dimming and then
turning off the LED with subsequent soft start of
the LED of the new signal aspect. The signals are
connected directly to the control modules.
The control module item-No. 5220 is generally not
operated via a separate button or switch, but via
the control module (item-No. 5221 – 5223) of the
following colour light main signal.
This control system for distant signals is compatible with the control system for hobby colour light
signals with integrated control electronics in the
signal base.
In addition, the so called “dark adaption” is installed in the control module item-No. 5220. If a
distant signal is connected to the same mast with
a main signal, the distant signal is switched off
(dark adapted) in the prototype as soon as the
main signal at the same mast shows “stop”. This
avoids a misinterpretation of the signal aspect by
the driver.
3. Mounting
Mount the control module with the enclosed
screws to an appropriate place on or under your
model train layout.
4. Connection
4.1 Wiring of power supply and signal
The upper left sockets (“bn” and “ge” – that means
brown and yellow) have to be connected to the
16 V-AC output of a model train transformer
(e. g. item-No. 5200).
The colour light signal has to be connected with
the sockets located at the bottom of the control
module. These sockets are colour-coded with the
corresponding colours of the signal LEDs.
The common return conductor of the colour light
signal (where the diode is located) has to be
connected to the brown socket (“bn”) of the control module resp. the transformer (= “ground”),
see fig. 1.
