D-ILA™ Home Theater Projectors
Going Beyond Home Theater
Page 2
Vidikron raises the bar once again in high quality, home theater video performance
with the Vision™ Model 60 and Model 80. Vidikron engineers have designed these
products with the unique implementation of D-ILA® (Direct Drive Image Light Amplifier)
light engines – an advanced type of LCoS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) technology. These
remarkable projectors are capable of producing some of the most natural, film-like
images yet available in front digital projection, featuring razor sharp image detail, richly
saturated colors and outstanding black level reproduction.
The Vision Model 60
The Vision Model 60 incorporates three separate high definition 1400 x 788 (16:9) D-ILA
chips within the light engine – one each for the primary red, green and blue segments.
Page 3
Among other benefits this three-chip design eliminates the “flicker” or
“rainbow effect” that often plague less costly to produce one-chip digital
video display devices.
The result is a picture with exceptionally low noise and precise color balance.

Advanced Three-Chip Engine Designs
In today’s digital video display devices,
small picture elements (pixels) comprise the
Vidikron’s engineers have also paid careful attention to accurate gray scale
tracking and true 6500K color reproduction capabilities. Combined, these
engineering achievements produce some of the most pleasing and film-like
high-resolution pictures available, and do so at a price point similar to many
single chip models.
With 1000 ANSI lumens of light output (CSMS™ Light Output of 17.9 ft-Lamberts)
and a 1500:1 contrast ratio, the Model 60 provides for state-of-the-art image
quality on screens as large as eight feet wide. Vidikron’s outstanding Imagix™
video processing with advanced 3:2 film detection circuitry and full HDTV
compatibility (with outboard tuner/decoder or satellite receiver) is versatile
enough to handle every video source.
complete video picture. The Vision Model 60
and Model 80’s D-ILA® (Direct Drive Image
Light Amplifier) light engines are high-speed,
vertically aligned liquid crystal on silicon
microchip engineering marvels.
Unlike other digital imaging
solutions, the D-ILA reflective
technology features very tight
“gating” — the space between each
individual pixel element. This results in a
93% screen fill factor and the elimination
of the “grid” or “screen door effect” often
evident in other digital display technologies.
This results in images as breathtaking
and natural as film itself, with true-to-life
In addition to Vidikron’s discrete source and multiple aspect ratio control, discrete
IR and RS-232 control make custom installation seamless, accommodating any
automation control system. The Vision Model 60 is packaged in stunning, Italian

technology enables you to “sit even closer”
and enjoy all the action — with richly

The Vision Model 80 Projector and VDP-80 Digital Video Controller/Processor
Presenting our new vision of the state-of-the-art — Vidikron’s
Vision Model 80 home theater ensemble, featuring the
highest resolution home theater video projection system
available today — 1080p.
Your reference home theater picture has never looked sharper
and more natural, compliments of the Vision Model 80’s three
chip 1920 x 1080 D-ILA light engine. Whether watching today’s
DVD’s or the highest definition sources available now and into
the future, the Vision Model 80 is ready when you are.

Vision™ Model 80
The Vision Model 80 employs advanced, next generation D-ILA™ (Direct Drive Image
Light Amplifier) technology that boasts a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 — over six
million pixels. This exciting technology is capable of producing some of the smoothest
images yet available in front digital projection systems.
Tremendous detail, richly saturated colors and outstanding black level reproduction
are hallmarks of the Vision Model 80. The incorporation of three D-ILA chips results in
exceptionally low noise and accurate gray scale tracking, without the artifacts that often
plague other engine designs.

The Vision Model 80 features 1050 ANSI lumens of light output (CSMS™ Light Output of
18.1 ft-Lamberts) and a 2100:1 contrast ratio — performance that enables state-of-the-art
picture quality on screens as large as eight feet wide.
Vidikron’s discrete source and multiple aspect ratio control, as well as discrete IR and

advanced automation systems. The beautiful Vision Model 80 is packaged in elegant,
Italian inspired styling and finished in a two-toned Classic White or Graphite Grey chassis
to complement your custom home theater installation.
VDP-80 Digital Video Controller / Processor
Included with the Vision Model 80 is the VDP-80 Digital Video Controller/Processor. The VDP-80 is a separate outboard unit that incorporates Vidikron’s
exclusive, advanced Imagix™ video processing and scaling capabilities. It handle all signals from 480i to1080i, which it converts to the Model 80’s
native 1080p resolution, transforming any video source into stunning high-resolution imagery.
All video source components are connected to the VDP-80, which features multiple analog and digital inputs. Because the VDP-80 is an outboard
chassis, it can be rack mounted with your other home theater system
equipment, while minimizing the number of connections to the projector.
This simplifies both installation and future system upgrades.
