Barrel Assemblies (BAP)
Some of our FBPT Series tips require a BAP, or barrel assembly. A BAP contains a common set of optics that can be used with multiple hollow tips. This approach makes many common tips more economical. Some tips contain their own optics and do not require a BAP. Typical examples of tips containing optics are long-reach tips and tips with a 60-degree angle for hard-to-reach areas; RibbonDrive™ tips, such as those used for MPO connectors, are another example. The following pages indicate which tips require a BAP and which do not.

FBPT Probe Tips
The FBPT Series probe tips attach to the FiberChek and FBP-P5000i Inspection Probes. Some of them can also be connected to the FiberChek Sidewinder with an adapter for use with simplex inspection. FBPT tips are primarily used for bulkhead inspection, but patch cord tips are also available for certain connectors.

FMA Adapters
FMA Series adapters are designed for patch cord inspection. These adapters connect to the FV Bench-top Microscopes, and can also be attached to the FiberChek™ and FBP-P5000i by using the FBPT-UFMA, together
with an FBPP-BAP1 adapter. FMA Series adapters are all male-threaded.

FMAX Series adapters the next generation of adapters directed for patch cord inspection and are highly recommended for new deployments and projects. These adapters connect to the FV Benchtop Microscopes and the Patch Cord Microscope on the SmartClass Fiber Series. These are the only adapters recommended for the FVAi-2030. They can also be connected to the FiberChek™ Probe and FBP-P5000i by using the FBPT-UFMAE, together with an FBPP-BAP1. FMAX Series adapters are all female-threaded.

FMAG Adapters
FMAG Series adapters are designed for patch cord inspection. They connect to the FVAm Bench-top Microscope. FMAG Series adapters utilize a magnetic connection so operators can quickly switch adapter types and ensure precision alignment. Each FMAG series adapter has the capability to inspect both PC and APC connectors by simply pressing the green (APC) or Blue (PC) color coded indicator.
