1. FOREWORD

The sosCall 3S is a personal safety system useful for emergency due to car accident
or every kind of danger.

When a car accident occurs the device’s accelerometer records the crash dynamics
routes it to the User’s Smartphone. Here the ViaAsig appS merges the data with the
GPS positions recorded by the Smartphone and sends every relevant information to

Operations Center.

Moreover, it is possible to send an emergency request to the Operations Center by
pressing the button on top of the device.

3. FUNCTIONS AND SERVICES

sosCall 3S is a safety system with an emergency button, a RGB LED, an integrated
accelerometer and a Bluetooth® Low Energy module.
The device records the accelerometric dynamic in case of accident or crash and
sends it to Operations Center using the connection of Smartphone Client. It is
possible to match the dynamic recorded by accelerometer with GNSS data

recorded on Smartphone through the ViaAsig App.

Furthermore, it is possible to send a rescue request to Operations Center, pressing
down the button for at least 2 seconds.

In order toproperlyset thisdevice it is mandatory forthe User:

 To ensure Internet connectivity for its own Smartphone;
 To download from official stores, install and start ViaAsig app (see QR codes and

links below)

 To activate on the Smartphone the GNSS, the Bluetooth® and the data

connectivity;

 To ensure that both Smartphone’s and sosCall 3S batteries are charged.

The device is powered by rechargeable batteries that can ensure continued

operation for several months.
The top button can be removed to allow for replacement of faulty batteries.
Battery can be recharged through the mini-USB plug located on the device side and
the USB cable included in the kit.

Operations Center assistance: upon request of assistance issued by

pressing emergency button, the Operations Center will call the paired
phone number;

Crash alert: in case of an accident a georeferenced alarm is automatically

sent to Operations Center and the User receives a voice call from an
operator (only if GNSS signal is available on the Smartphone);

Events recording: the device records the vehicle’s starts and stops, timed

tracking route, crashes and anomalies;

Crash dynamic: accelerometer data of the vehicle allow to rebuild the car

crash dynamic. Data are recorded from 3 seconds before to 7 seconds
after the crash with a rate of 400 samples per second, while GNSS
position is recorded from 70 seconds before the crash and updated
every second;

Securization procedure: the Operations Center tests the device for

anomalies and malfunction. Furthermore it checks if the Smartphone’s
App related to Bluetooth® connectivity and data transmission operate

properly;

Low Battery: if the device battery energy level is below minimum

threshold, a signal is sent to the User’s Smartphone and to Operations
Center;

Driving Style: when the vehicle starts the device signals the Driving Style

evaluated on last trip data.

6. DEVICE INSTALLATION

To get the right acceleration measurements, device positioning is subject to
constraints:

 it must be placed with the USB plug directed downwards and only on dashboard

or windscreen (no car doors or rear window);

 the long side of the device must be parallel to the road plane;
 the area has to be rigid, stable in relation to the vehicle (avoid car door or sun

visor) and solid to avoid mechanical vibrations or oscillations.

 the distance between the device and vehicle’s USB plug shall be reachable with

the provided cable for recharge operations.

 driving mustn’t be impeded by the USB cable for batteries recharging;
 the device shall be fixed using the provided adhesive pads.

THE FOLLOWING DRAWING SHOWS THE SUGGESTED POSITIONS:

Vem Solutions devices should be installed in accordance with the instruction of this
manual and in accordance with limits/recommendations of vehicle’s manufacturer.
The device must be protected from excessive heat, liquids (water, mud, oil, fuel),
weather and direct sunlight; do not wash it with water jets or water under
pressure. The unit must be kept far from other electronic devices such as radios,

CD/DVD players, power units, amplifiers, power harness and, in general, sources of

electromagnetic interference.
Failure to follow these instructions could cause damage to the driver or to the
vehicle.
Vem Solutions has no responsibility for damage if User doesn’t follow the
instruction in this guide.

7. ViaAsig APP INSTALLATION TO SMARTPHONE

7.1 ViaAsig sosCall 3S Installation

The first time the User opens the app after the registration procedure, he has to
pair the sosCall 3S, following these steps:

 Open the ViaAsig app and, if it’s the first time, a login or registration is required;

 Open the left menu by clicking on the menu icon to the top-left of the main

page or by swiping the screen from left to right;

 Click on the “sosCall 3S” item of the menu;

 The sosCall 3S page shows the actual state, where no device is connected with

your ViaAsig app;

 Click on the Bluetooth® icon in the bottom bar to discover the sosCall 3S device

(allow Bluetooth® enabling if required);

 Choose the sosCall 3S from the list (in this example we choose sosCall 3S

2990058_371);

 The connection procedure starts and the user can see the status: before

“connected but not ready” (with the green Bluetooth® icon) and immediately
after “Connected and ready” (the green Bluetooth® icon gets blue);

 The sosCall 3S is now ready to use; the User can see the battery percentage, the

name, the software version installed and all the information associated with the
sosCall 3S;

 If the sosCall3S is Connected and Ready, the text at the top of the main screen of

the app changes;

 For the Android® version of the app only: ViaAsig runs also in background and

keeps a constant connection between the smartphone and the sosCall 3S, even
when user closes the app. A notification (a Bluetooth® symbol) shows the status

of the app while in background; if the notification appears the app is running

correctly and connects, disconnects and automatically records travels with the
sosCall 3S. The only way to avoid the running in background of the app is force
the stop of the application in the settings (in this case the connection with your
device will interrupt; to restore it is necessary to re-open the app again);

 For the iOS® version of the app: to keep the connection and record travels with

the sosCall 3S the User shall keep the app open or in background and not
remove it from the iOS® stack (if this occurs the connection with the device will
interrupt; to restore it is necessary to re-open the app again).

7.2 ViaAsig sosCall 3S Uninstallation

To delete and unpair the sosCall 3S device from the app, the User shall follow these
steps:

 Open the sosCall 3S page of the app;

 Click on the trash bin icon, don’t mind if the User is connected or disconnected;

 A popup window asks for confirmation to device deletion;

 Press “Yes” to delete the device from the memory of the Smartphone.

7.3 ViaAsig sosCall 3S Software Update

The User should regularly check for sosCall 3S software updates with the following
steps (with the device connected and ready):

 Open the sosCall 3S page;
 Press the down arrow in the bottom bar, the app will look for software updates

from the server;

 If updates are available a popup window will ask for confirmation to proceed;
 By pressing the Yes button the updating procedure starts and a progress window

popup appears with the indication of percentage and the remaining time. Now
it’s very important to keep a constant Bluetooth connection with the sosCall 3S.
The time required for this operation is variable, normally it takes some minutes
to transfer data to the sosCall 3S;

 For the Android® version of the app only: the User can close the app, which

remains active in background, keeping the connection with the sosCall 3S and
transferring data; a notification will show the progress status;

 For the iOS® version of the app: the user has to keep the app open or in

background and not remove it from the stack.

7.4 ViaAsig sosCall 3S Travel Recording

If the sosCall3S is connected with the Smartphone and ready to use (Bluetooth®
text shows “Connected”) the User can see the sosCall3S travel status from the main
screen of the app and from the notification icon.

 If the sosCall3S isn’t recording a travel (travel status off) on the main screen

there is a “Recording Off” text, and the notification pull-down menu shows the
connection and travel status.

 If the sosCall3S is recording a travel (travel status on) on the main screen there is

a “Recording On” text, and the notification pull-down menu shows the
connection and travel status with a car&Bluetooth® icon.

with the Directive 2014/53/UE to ensure safety of people by answering to every
reliability criteria.
Vem Solutions S.p.A. declares that the Short Range Communication channels of
PBX sosCall 3S operate on these frequency bands:

9. INFORMATION ABOUT SAFETY AND REGULATIONS

Foreword

 The manufacturer declines any responsibility in case of malfunctions or damage

due to installation not compliant with the directions contained in the
"installation manual" or to the "Information about Safety and Regulations"
section”.

Internal batteries

 The system features an internal “Ni-MH” battery, that can be replaced by the

user.

Disposal of electrical and electronic waste weee
(valid in the EC and in the EUROPEAN countries with
differentiated collection)

 The symbol on product or package means that the product mustn't be disposed

of in the household waste stream. These equipment must be disposed of at the
designated collection facilities authorized to electrical and electronic waste
recycling. The collection and recycling of discarded equipment will help to
maintain the natural resources and to warrant that the process will protect the
environment and people's health. For more information about the collection
sites contact your Municipality Waste Management Services or your preferred
Dealer.
