Getting Started
with the
Vexilar Ultra Pack
Thank you for purchasing the Vexilar Ultra Pack. Your system is completely
assembled and ready to fish. There are just a few things you need to know
before you begin. Be sure you read through both sides of this sheet as well as
the Owner’s Manual for your flasher.
The Ice-Ducer is designed to hold your transducer level at the desired depth
below the water surface. Just slide the stopper along the cable (stick your finger
in the slot to make it slip easier) and set the distance between it and the bottom
of the transducer to the approximate thickness of the ice.
Cable storage is located behind the
tackle box holder. After you’ve set the

and angle it the way you want. The
rod holder should be stowed in a
front socket for storage. If you would

transducer by the stopper using the eye-bolt. Be
sure to remove the eye-bolt when you’re not using
it to prevent damage to your Ultra Pack. There’s
a slot just behind the front rod holder sockets for
eye-bolt storage.

The transducer holder keeps the Ice-Ducer secured during
storage and transportation. Be sure to put your transducer
inside when it’s not in use. Use the cable grips to tie up any
lose cable. Also, be careful not to let the tackle box sit on top of
the cable, as the cable may become damaged.
The transducer support eye-bolt is
an alternative to using the float
to hold your transducer in posi
tion. It can be handy for early,
thin ice. Thread the eye-bolt into

Battery Charging and
Monitoring
The Battery Status Indicator
monitors the level of charge
in your battery. It can help
you see how much running
time is left and when your
battery is fully charged.
Your Vexilar Ultra Pack system comes with a high quality sealed lead acid battery. In order to
insure maximum running time for your flasher and maximum battery life, you need to follow some simple
charging rules. The included charger is specifically designed for this battery. The charger is also protected
internally from reverse hook up and short circuits. As long as you follow these instructions, you can expect
many hours of use and many years of service from the battery.
To Charge the Battery
1.
Turn the Ultra Pack’s Master Power Switch ON. You DO NOT need to disconnect the flasher.
2.
Plug the charger into a standard 110 VAC wall outlet. Make sure the charger’s light is on.
3.
Connect the red charger clip to the positive power post and the black clip to the negative power post.
The charger’s light should turn off. This indicates that the battery is now accepting a charge.
4.
Let the battery charge until the charger’s light comes back on. Make sure you wait until it gets to full
brightness. Charge times can range up to 48 hours for a completely dead battery. Do not leave the
charger connected to the battery for more than 48 hours after the light has come on to full bright
ness. Tip - For faster charges with automatic shutoff, see your dealer about the optional V-300
1-Amp Automatic Charger.
5.
Fully recharge the battery after each use. Be sure to charge it soon after you are done using it. However,
do not charge it when it is cold. Bring the battery indoors and allow it to warm up for at least one hour
before connecting the charger.
6.
For battery storage, make sure the Master Power Switch is OFF. Charge it every month or two to insure
that it maintains a full charge during the storage period.
Negative Power Post
Use the power posts to
charge your battery and
run 12 volt
accessories.
Positive Power Post
The Master Power Switch
turns everything ON and OFF.

Determining the Battery’s Level of Charge
The Battery Status Indicator attached to the battery compartment of your Ultra Pack is designed
to allow you to see the level of charge in the battery while in use. The POWER ON light indicates that the
battery is connected properly. The middle three lights indicate the approximate percentage of charge
remaining. The top light is used only while charging.
Notice that the charger and the status indicator both have lights that tell you when the battery is fully
charged. The charger’s light will likely turn on first. The Status Indicator will remain at the FULL level during
most of the charging time and the “Charge Complete” light may never come on. This is because the Vexilar
charger is designed to bring the battery to a safe level and hold it there, avoiding overcharge. Remember,
the charger’s indicator light is your primary indicator. Use this light to tell you when your battery is
fully charged. If you should ever charge your battery without a Vexilar charger, then use the Battery Status

Indicator’s light as your “charge complete” indicator.
Please note that the percent of charge shown will vary with the temperature and battery load. The
most accurate reading will be shown when the flasher is running and the temperature is above 50 degrees.
