8. Calib rat ion
1.Pres s the “ ANGL E key ” to select t he vight me asu ring geom etr y
2.Lay th e mai n unit into t he holder w ith calibr ati on standa rd of h igh gl oss b lack tile. Take a r eading by p res sing t he “MEAS ke y.” Compar e the m easu red v alue with the v alu e marked on t he tile. If i t matche s the v alue on the t ile h olde r, the instru men t is within c ali brat ion a nd ready for use. I f the m easu red v alue does n ot match th e ass igned val ue, j ust pr ess t he “CAL key.” It is nece ssa ry to in spe ct the cond iti on of the cali bra tion tile a nd in stru men t optics before e ach c alibrat ion . Any dust o r deb ris on the opt ic sh ould be blo wn fr om the lenses u sin g
dry clea n air, t he op tics must not be touche d. If t her e are any perman ent m ark s or scrat che s on th e lenses, the in str ume nt is no longer su ita ble for measur ing a nd should be ret urn ed to an authori zed servic e cen ter. The cal ibr ati on tile must be perfec tly c lea n from smears an d scr atc hes before atte mpt ing calibrat ion . Fin gerprin ts and dust can be r emo ved with the sup pli ed optic cl ean ing c lot h.
9. Measu rem ent
Remove the ho lde r and l ay the Measureme nt Ape rtu re just aga ins t the positi on th at yo u want to measur e. Take a measureme nt by p ressing the “M EAS key.” The reading on t he Di spl ay Screen within 2 seco nds i s the gloss valu e of th at positi on. M ean whi le the resu lt is s tor ed into mem ory a uto matically. When the i nst rum ent is placed on a sample the ap ert ure is hidden, t he ce ntr e of the mea sur eme nt area can be pinpointe d by th e intersecti on of t he arrows m ark ed on t he front of the instru men t cas e with those on th e sid e.
