IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
The following symbol is used throughout this manual mark important instructions. Please take care when meeting this symbol:
GENERAL INFORMATION
The NanoSonde MPL4-33 is a very small, battery operated transmitter that emits a 33 kHz signal, which can be located by a receiver operating on the same frequency. The NanoSonde is intended to be used in non-conductive ducts, cavities and structures. The flexible construction allows the Sonde to pass through curves and bends. The device is intended for professional use.

BATTERY IN STALLATION
When the battery cap is correctly closed, the locking mechanisms of the battery cap are visible in the slots by the closed lock symbol (Figure 1). Turn the battery cap 90° or a quarter turn clockwise (Figure 2). Each quarter turn will be indicated by an audible click. The locking mechanism will now be visible in the opening by the open lock symbol (Figure 3). Remove the battery cap by pulling it gently.

Turning the battery cap counterclockwise will damage the battery cap and/or Sonde.
1(6) Precaution: Always take care to turn the battery cap clockwise
NanoSonde® MPL4-33
Insert the BR425 battery. Observe polarity, insert with the pin-end first (Figure 4). When using the Sonde for extended times, always use a new battery.
Figure 4: Inserting battery
To attach the battery cap, ensure that the locking mechanism is inserted to the openings by the open lock symbol (Figure 3). Push the battery cap gently in place. To close, turn the battery cap 90° or a quarter turn clockwise (Figure 2).
Low temperatures reduce the operating time of the battery. Extended storage time can reduce battery capacity.
High mechanical stress, high ambient temperatures or immersion into liquids can cause leakage, fire or explosions of the batteries.
Precautions: Protect the batteries from mechanical influences and high ambient temperatures. Do not drop or immerse batteries into liquids.
TURNING THE SONDE ON AND OFF
The MPL4-33 will turn on, when you close the battery compartment. To turn the NanoSonde off, remove the battery. Always remove the battery completely when you are not using the Sonde. Remember to always attach the battery cap to the Sonde to avoid losing it.
OPERATING THE DE VICE
Once the battery is inserted into the NanoSonde and the battery cap attached, the NanoSonde will start emitting a 33 kHz signal. The Sondes location can now be detected with a receiver that operates at the same frequency, such as the Vesala CL43. Before use, ensure the NanoSonde is fully functional by locating the signal with a corresponding receiver. Refer to the user manual of the receiver on pinpointing the location of the NanoSonde.
Do not attach the MPL4-33 to a pushrod. The Sonde is not designed to take impacts of more than 0.2 J or withstand pulling or pushing of more than 10N. If your Sonde gets stuck, do not remove it by pulling, this will damage the device.
During use the NanoSonde will develop a slight bend. If not overbent, this does not affect the functionality of the Sonde.
Overbending the NanoSonde can lead to damage to the device. Precaution: Never bend the Sonde to an angle exceeding 45°.

Problem
Possible cause
Remedy
NanoSonde does not turn on.
Battery is weak. Sonde is damaged
Replace battery. There are no serviceable parts in the device. Contact your distributor or manufacturer
NanoSonde unintentionally turns off
Battery is weak
Replace battery
No signal is detected
Battery is weak Device is used in conductive duct
Replace battery Use another Sonde
JETTING THE NANOSONDE WITH COMPRESSED AIR
When using the device with compressed air always refer to the user manual of the jetting unit and follow safe work practices.
Use of compressor can lead to the NanoSonde exiting the duct at a great speed.
Precaution: Always use a catcher device at the end of the duct. If changing the direction of the jetting due to the device getting stuck, remember to move the catcher device to the other end of the duct. Do not jet the NanoSonde with pressure exceeding 4 bars. Always use safety goggles, when using the NanoSonde with compressed air.
MAINTENANCE
CLEANING
Clean with clean soft cloth. Do not use abrasive agents or solvents for cleaning. Take care to avoid dirt getting into the unit. Regularly inspect O-ring and replace if damaged. If water gets into the battery compartment, allow it to dry at room temperature.
STORAGE
Store inside storage box. Respect the temperature limits stated in the technical data when storing the device. Always remove the batteries from the product during storage to avoid leakage. After a long time of storage, check the accuracy of the device.
