Installation and User Guide
The DELTA modules have been designed to charge all conventional type batteries. Using a simple interface, they provide the necessary adjustments and operating status indications. Equipped with numerous protective devices and advanced functions, they are simple and easy to put into service. They guarantee reliable operation and extend the service life of the batteries connected, even in severe operating conditions.
They can also be configured in power supply mode, with an adjustable output voltage.

3 START UP
Battery charger mode
Power Supply mode
To use the DELTA module in power supply mode, set switches 2 and 3 to the "Us Manual" and "Internal U" position and use the "Adjust Floating" voltage adjustment potentiometer (see § Specifications).
4 ADVANCED FUNCTIONS
BOOST function
To charge the batteries, it may be useful to use the BOOST function to raise the charge voltage for a few hours. This function is activated by connecting an external potential-free contact to the “BOOST” terminals 4-5. The module's BOOST function is enabled for a 12-hour period if the contact closes (pulse) for at least 300 ms. If the contact remains closed for a longer time, the module automatically returns to floating mode. The boost can be interrupted if the contact is closed again (pulse). In the "Us Auto" position, the boost function raises the charging voltage by 3.8% if switch 1 is in the 2.27 V/cell position, and 5.4% if switch 1 is in the 2.23 V/cell position. In "Us Manual" position, the boost voltage is adjusted using the "Adjust Boost" potentiometer. The charging voltage can be adjusted from the value of the floating voltage to the maximum voltage (15 /30 / 60 Vdc). The green LED flashes intermittently during the boost. The boost function is deactivated when the configuration switches 2 and 3 are set to "Us Manual" and "External U", respectively (voltage adjustment via the external potentiometer).
Battery TEST function
In order to ensure that the battery is capable of supplying the load, the module features a TEST function that drops the voltage to 2 volts per cell (standby voltage), i.e. 12 V, 24 V or 48 V depending on the module. This function is activated by connecting an external potential-free contact to the “TEST” terminals 6-7. The module's TEST function is enabled for 30 seconds if the contact closes (pulse) for at least 300 ms. The green LED flashes intermittently during the test. If the battery voltage drops to the standby voltage before the end of the test, the module returns to the floating voltage and reports a fault (memorized fault). The red LED flashes and the fault report is activated. The battery test function is deactivated when the configuration switches 2 or 3 are set to "Us Manual" and "External U", respectively (voltage adjustment via the external potentiometer).
Observe the installation direction: vertical position. Check that the vents are unobstructed. 50 mm required above and below unit. Check that the rated voltage corresponds to the application. Check the polarity of the connection to the battery and the load.
CAUTION!

Adjusting the voltage U with the external potentiometer
The output voltage can be adjusted using the external potentiometer (use only the VERTIV potentiometer, code:
6002928). Connect the potentiometer as shown in the diagram. Set switches 2 and 3 to the "Us Manual" and
"External U" position. Setting range: see § Specifications.
Protections
The DELTA module is equipped with internal devices to protect both itself and the connected equipment:
Polarity inversion protection (Caution, the rating of fuses FB and FU, indicated in the specifications table, must be respected).
Overload and output short-circuit protection by current limitation.
Fire protection in case of internal failure by input fuse.
Output overvoltage protection (Charger max.): protects the load in case of control loss by stopping the
module. Threshold set at the current voltage (floating or boost) + 10% of the rated voltage, and delayed approximately 13 seconds (memorized fault).
No current measurement protection: protects the battery in case of loss of limitation by stopping the module, 10 s delay (memorized fault).
End of battery discharge alarm (battery min.): Threshold set at 85% of the rated voltage, and delayed 2 seconds (fault not memorized).
These last faults are reported onto an NO + NC dry contact on terminals 1-2-3 of the connector, at rest in default.
Note: To clear the memorized faults, power to the module must be turned off (mains and battery) for at least 30 seconds.
Fault report configuration:
The fault report may be configured in mM or D mode. The table below indicates the faults reported for each mode.
mM
D
Charger max. Battery min. Battery test failure No current measurement
Mains outage Charger max. Battery min. Battery test failure No current measurement
The following is recommended to avoid signal disruption:
do not use more than 2 meters of cable to connect auxiliaries,
do not route auxiliary wiring outside the cabinet in which the DELTA charger is installed,
route auxiliary wiring and power wiring separately,
twist the auxiliary connecting wires serving the same function.

5 TROUBLESHOOTING
Lights
Meaning
Action
Green mains presence LED off and no output voltage
Check that the power supply voltage is present on the charger input and that the protection DjS is not open.
Green mains presence LED illuminated
Normal operation in floating mode.
Green mains presence LED flashing intermittently
Module in boost or battery test mode (see § Advanced Functions). If this is not the case, the module is in current limiting mode:
The battery is highly discharged. It may take several hours to recharge a battery.
The module is in overload during use. If necessary, disconnect the battery; check the output voltage and the load.
Red fault LED illuminated steady and no output voltage
Check if the signal fault relay is reporting an anomaly. If so, the module is faulty (overvoltage on output or no current measurement). Turn DELTA charger power off (mains and battery). Replace the module.
Flashing red fault LED
Battery discharged or defective. Recharge the battery for 24 hours, then perform a battery test (see § Advanced Functions). If problem remains, replace the battery.
The output voltage is not the desired voltage.
Check the reference of the equipment to ascertain the model. Check the position of the mode programming switches (see § Specifications).
If the problem remains, call VERTIV maintenance services at +33 472 47 63 80.
