Congratulations! You’ve purchased the most advanced, state of the art LiPO battery available for the DJI Phantom 2 family of multi-rotor models. This is a quick guide to help you get started with your new battery. You will find that there are multiple information screens you can access depending on the batteries current activity. This guide will help you navigate those screens like a pro. But first, you need to know how to turn the battery on.
TURNING THE BATTERY ON AND OFF:
To power on the battery, press the button on the end of the pack twice within one second holding the button down on the second press. The green LED lights should begin to illuminate. When all four green LED’s are lit, your battery will power on.
To turn the battery off, use the same method by pressing the button twice within one second, holding the button down on the second press. The LED lights should begin to turn off. When all 4 LED’s are not lit, your battery is off.
LCD SCREEN
There are 3 modes the battery can be in depending on what it’s doing. There’s the Resting mode, where the battery is simply waiting to be used. This could be when the battery is on, but not in the model, or when it’s plugged into the model, but the model is not being flown.
The next mode is the Charging mode. This happens when the battery is plugged into your charger and you are increasing the voltage of the battery.
The last mode is the Discharge mode. This mode is engaged by using the battery in your DJI Phantom 2. Your drone must begin flying for this mode to start. Now let’s cover the details of each mode.
RESTING MODE
Without the battery plugged into the charger, power on the battery. This mode will also be activated when the battery is turned on while plugged into the Phantom 2, but the drone is resting and not being flown. The screen you will see is the “Battery Info” screen. This tells you the percentage the battery is charged, the amount of power (represented in mAh, or milliamp hours) currently available in the pack, the resting voltage of the battery, and finally in the lower right corner of the screen, the amount of times the battery has been “cycled” or discharged and charged back up again.
By pressing the button once you can see additional information like the serial number, the health state of the battery (All new batteries will start at 99%), the software version, the production date as well as the current draw and individual cell voltages.

CHARGING MODE
Connecting your battery to a charger and initiating a charge will put the battery into “Charge Mode”. Charge this battery as you would normally charge your original DJI battery. You will notice that once the charge starts, the screen will automatically light up giving you important information like the estimated time remaining for the charge, the percentage the battery is charged, the amperage currently going into the battery and the overall voltage reading as well as the individual cell voltages.
Pressing the button once will give you additional charge statistics like the Vmin-Vmax difference, max cell voltage, full capacity, maximum temperature (in Celsius), health state and balance state of the pack. This information is most useful when the battery is done charging, as the statistics will actively change while the battery is being charged.
DISCHARGE MODE
When your battery is plugged into your drone and powered on, it will display the “Resting Mode” information. When your DJI Phantom 2 is in flight, it is in “Discharge Mode”. The screen will display the percentage of power left in the battery as well as the estimated flying time left (Left side of the screen, represented in minutes) and the actual flight time (Right side of the screen, represented in minutes and seconds) as well as the current amp draw and overall voltage of the battery.
When your flight is done, the screen will show you the “Battery Info” from the “Resting Mode”. However, if you press the button once you will get the “Discharge Statistics” screen that will show you the overall discharge time, maximum current draw (in amps) while you were flying, the Vmax-Vmin, Minimum voltage in the battery, the lowest cell voltage, the maximum temperature the battery reached (in Celsius) and the health state of the battery.
