new BG-S5 battery grip purchase. Enjoy the many benef its
that a batter y grip offers, such a s extended shooting time
and more control and comfort when shooting in a vertical
(por trait) orient ation. The Vello BG-S5 is compatible w ith
the Sony A650 0 mirrorless camer a, and it accepts up to
two Sony NP-FW50 rechargeable batteries. It offers an
alternate shu tter-relea se button and has a control lock to
prevent accidental triggering.

using the BG-S5 battery grip.

Precautions
1.
The BG-S5 should be used only with compatible devices
specif ied in this manual.
2.
Use only with the batteries and battery holders
recommended in this manual.
3. If you notice smoke, an unusual smell, or noise from the
battery pack, discontinue use immediately. Remove the
batteries, and contact Vello Customer Service.
4.
The bat tery level may not display properly if batteries
are installed before mounting the grip.
5. Remove batteries from the grip w hen not in use.
6. Do not attempt to disassemble.
7.
Avoid exposing this produc t to water or ex treme
humidity, and keep i t in a dry, cool place.
8. Keep out of reach of children.

Attaching the Grip
1.
Ensure that the camera
power is turned off, and the
Control Lock on the BG-S5
is in the Off position.
2.
Open the camera’s battery
chamber door, and remove
the bat tery. Then inser t the
battery pack adapter.
3.
Open the camera’s
connec tion plate cover, and
close the battery chamber
door. This will leave the
battery pack adapter’s
contacts exposed.

Align the camera’s tripod
socket with the BG-S5’s
mounting screw, and insert
the camera’s connection
plate cover into the recess.

Rotate the locking wheel
counterclockwise until it’s
firmly tightened.

Connect the shutter release
cable fro m the cable relea se
socket on the bat tery grip
to the Multi Terminal on t he
A6500 body.

Inserting the Batteries
1.
Lift and rotate the bat ter y
tray’s lock counterclockwise,
and remove the bat tery tray
from the grip.
2.
Align the contac ts of the
firs t battery and slot 1.
Inser t the batter y toward
the springs, and push down
to lock the battery in place.

Align the contac ts of the
second ba ttery and slot 2,
and slide the bat tery into
place until it click s.
4.
Inser t and lock the batter y
tray inside the batter y grip.
5.
Turn on the camera, and
switch the bat tery grip’s
control lock to the On
position.
Note: When removing the grip,
turn off the camera’s power and
the grip’s control lock switch, then
remove the batteries.

Removing the Batteries
1.
Turn the camera and
battery grip power off. Lift
and rotate the batter y tray
lock counterclockwise, and
remove the battery tray
from the grip.
2.
Remove batter y 1 by pulling
back against the springs and
lifting the bat tery out of
the tray.

Remove batter y 2 by
moving the latch ou tward
and sliding the batter y out
of the bat tery tray.
Battery Status
When two batteries are inst alled in the BG-S5, your camera will automatically select the bat tery with lower power
remaining. The batter y level will appear on your c amera’s LCD with the battery level percentage for only the bat tery
in use. When the batter y is depleted, your camera will s witch to the other battery in the grip.
Warning! When storing your Sony camera with the grip attached, turn your camera off to conserve bat ter y power.
