Introduction
Thank you for choosing Vello and congratulations on your new BG-S1 battery grip purchase. Enjoy the many benefits that a battery grip offer s, such as ex tended shooting time and more control and comfor t when shooting in a vertical (por trait) or ientation.
The Vello BG-S1 is compatible with the Sony Alpha SLT-A77 DSLR came ra. The BG -S1 accept s two Sony NP-FM500H rechargeable batteries. The BG-S1 is equipped wi th an alter nate shut ter-release button, AF star t but ton, smar t teleconverter/focus magnif ier, Fn/image rotation, AEL/slow sync/image index, AF/ MF/enlarge, and exposur e compensation bu ttons, a Multi selector, and a main dial for shooting in a ver tic al position.
Please read through this entire manual before using the BG-S1 battery grip.

Precautions
1. The BG-S
1
should only be used with compatible
devices specified in this manual.
2. Only use with batteries and batte ry holders
recommended in this manual.
3. Cover the power terminals wi th the contact
cap when the BG-S1 is not in use. This prevents electrical shorts caused by metal objects touching the power ter minals.
4. When the battery holder is removed from the
grip, remove the batteries or place the holder in a container to preve nt electr ical shor ts caused by contact wi th other met al object s.
5. If you notice smoke , an unusual smell or noise from
the battery pack, discontinue use immediately.
Remove the bat ter ies and take the device to a Vello authorized reseller.
6. Turn the grip power off when not shooting
vertically.
7. The battery level may not display properly if
batteries are inser ted before mounting the grip.
8. Remove bat ter ies from the grip when not in use.
9. Do not attempt to disassemble.
10. Avoid water or extreme humidity and keep in a
dry and cool place.
11. Keep out of reach of children.

Attaching The Grip
1. Ensur e that t he power is
turned off on the camer a and that the power switch is set to OFF on the battery grip.
2. Open the camera
battery chamber cover and remove the camera battery.
3. Remove the protective
cap from the battery grip.

4. Connec t the BG-S1 grip to
the camera, while aligning the grip’s mounting screw with the camera’s tripod socket. Make sure to leave the camera battery chamber cover open, so it will slide into the BG -S1’s camera battery chamber cover slot.
5. Rotate the attachment
wheel in the direc tion shown by the ar row until it is firmly tightened.
When removing the gr ip, turn the camera power off, remove batteries, and replace protective contact cap.

Inserting Batteries
1. Ensur e that t he power is
turned off on the camer a and the grip.
2. Rotate the dial on the
battery chamber door to OPEN position, and the door will open up.
3. Slide the blue latch in the
direction of the arrow to release the battery tray. Remove battery tray from the battery cha mber.

4. Insert up to two Sony
NP-FM500H bat ter ies by placing them into either slot in the bat ter y tray, while ensur ing the corr ect orientation as shown on the tray.
5. Slide the battery tray into
the battery cha mber until it locks into place. Close the battery cha mber door and lock it by rotating the dial to CLOSE position.
6. Rotate the grip power
to ON and then turn on the camer a’s power. Check t he bat ter y level in the control panel or viewfi nder.

Vello provides a limited warranty that this product is free from defects in materials and workmanship to the
original purchaser under normal use for a period of one (1) year from the original purchase date or thirty (30)
days after replacement whichever occurs later. Our responsibility with respect to this limited warranty shall
be limited solely to repair or replacement, at its option, of any product which fails during normal consumer
