BATTERY GRIP

The Vello BG- N3 is compatible wit h the Nikon D4 0, D40x, D60, D3000 and D5000 DSLR cameras. The BG- N3 accepts up to t wo Nikon EN- EL9 rechar geable batteries. The BG-N3 is equipped with an alternate shutter-release button that triggers the camera via infrared for shooting in a vertical position.
Please read through this entire manual before using the BG- N3 battery grip.

Precautions
1. The BG-N3 should only be used with compatible
devices specified in this manual.
2. Only use with batteries recommended in this
manual. The BG- N3 can not be used with other battery holders.
3. Cover the power terminals wi th the contact cap
when the BG-N3 is not in use. This prevents electrical shorts caused by metal objects touching the power ter minals.
4. If you notice smoke , an unusual smell o r noise from
the battery pack, discontinue use immediately. Remove the bat ter ies and take the device to a Vello authorized reseller.
5. The BG-N3 does not have a power switch.
Instead, use the camer a power switch to tur n the power on or off.
6. The bat ter y level may not display properly if
batteries are inser ted before mounting the grip.
7. Remove batteries from the gr ip whe n not in use.
8. Do not attempt to disassemble.
9. Avoid water or extreme humidity and keep in a
dry and cool place.
10. Keep out of reach of children.

Camera Battery Chamber Holder
Stores the camera’s battery chamber door when the grip is mounted.

Tripod Socket
Allows the camer a to be mounted to a tripod when the gr ip is mounted.

Power Contacts
Slides into the camera’s batte ry chamber and transmit s power.

Infrared Transmitter
Triggers the shut ter r elea se on the camera via infrared signal.

Shutter Release Button
Use as an alternate shutter release button for shooting in vertical (por tr ait) mode.

ASSEMBLY
Attaching The Grip

1. Ensur e that t he power is
turned off on the camer a.
2. Turn the camer a upside
down and open the camera battery chamber. Pull gently at a 35º angle until the chamber door comes loose.

3. Slide the camera battery
chamber door into the BG- N3 chamber door holde r in order to avoid loss.
6. Turn the camera on and check
the battery level on the LCD or viewfinder.
7. Set the camera release mode
to “Quick-Response Remote” or “Delayed Remote” (see your camera manual for details).
4. Inser t the BG-N3 grip
power contac ts into the camera’s battery chamber as shown. Make sure to align the camera’s tripod socket with the BG-N3 mounting screw.
5. Rotate the attachment
wheel in the direc tion shown by the ar row until it is firmly tightened.

When removing the gr ip, turn the camera power off, remove batteries, and replace protective contact cap.

Vello’s re­sponsibility with respect to this limited warranty shall be limited solely to repair or replacement, at its option, of any product which fails during normal consumer use.
