Introduction
Thank you for choosing Vello, and congr atulations
on your new BG-C8 battery grip purchase. Enjoy
the many benefits that a battery grip offer s, such as
extended shooting time and more cont rol and comfor t
when shooting in a ver tical (portrait) orientation.
The Vello BG- C8 is compatible with the Canon EOS
6D DSLR camera. The BG -C8 accept s two Canon
LP-E6 rechargeable batteries, or six AA batteries
(alkaline, Ni-MH, lithium, or nickel-manganese) can
be used instead for added convenience. The BG-C8 is
equipped wi th an alter nate shut ter-release button, AF
on but ton, AF point selection, AE lock/FE lock but ton,
and main dial for shooting in a vertical position.
Please read through this entire manual before using
the BG -C8 battery grip.

Precautions
1. The BG-C8 should only be used with compatible
devices specified in this manual.
2. Only use with batteries and batte ry holders
recommended in this manual.
3. Cover the power terminals wi th the contact cap
when the BG-C8 is not in use. This prevents
electrical shorts caused by metal objects touching
the power ter minals.
4. When you remove the bat ter y holder from the
grip, remove the batteries or place the holder in
a container to preve nt electr ical shor ts caused by
contact wi th other met al object s.
5. If you notice smoke , an unusual smell or noise from
the battery pack, discontinue use immediately.
Remove the bat ter ies and take the device to a
Vello authorized reseller.
6. Turn the grip power off when not shooting
vertically.
7. The battery level may not display properly if
batteries are inser ted before mounting the grip.
8. Remove bat ter ies from the grip when not in use.
9. Do not attempt to disassemble.
10. Avoid water or ex treme humidit y and keep in a
dry and cool place.
11. Keep out of reach of children.

Attaching The Grip
1. Ensur e that t he power is
turned off on the camer a
and that the power switch
is set to OFF on the
battery grip.
2. Remove the bat ter y
from the camera battery
compar tment.
3. Open the camera battery
chamber cover and
remove, as indicated
above.

4. To prevent loss, place the
camera battery chamber
cover in the BG-C8
battery chamber holder,
as indicated above. Swing
the battery cha mber cover
shut so that it locks into
place
5. Remove the protective
cap and connect the BGC8 grip to the camera
while aligning the grip’s
mounting screw with the
camera’s tripod socket.
6. Rotate the attachment
wheel in the direc tion
shown by the ar row until
it is firmly tightened.

Turn the camera power off,
remove batteries, and replace
protective contact cap when
removing the grip.

Inserting Batteries
1. Ensure that the power
is turned off on the
camera and grip. Use your
fingernail to pry open the
battery tray lever so you
can rotate and pull i t as
indicated above and slide
the battery tr ay out of the
grip.
2. Canon LP-E6 Batteries:
Insert up to two batteries
by placing them in either
slot in the battery, ensuring
the cor rec t orientation as
shown on the tr ay.
3. AA Batteries: Place
six new dispos able or
freshly recharged AA
batteries of the same
type in the AA battery
holder as shown, while
ensuring that they are in
the cor rec t orientation.

4. Rotate the bat ter y tray
lever counterclockwise
and slide the battery
tray all the way into the
grip. Rotate the lever as
indicated above and push
it back into place to lock
the tray.
5. Switch the grip power
to ON and then turn
on the camer a’s power.
Check t he bat ter y level
in the control panel or
viewfi nder.
6. Household Power Outlet:
The Canon ACK- E6
AC Power Adapter Kit
(sold separately) can be
connected to the gr ip.
Insert the DC coupler
through the small groove
on the back of the grip.
Ensure that the cord
doesn’t get pinched by the
battery holder.

Vello provides a limited warranty that this product is free from defects in materials and workmanship to
the original purchaser under normal use for a period of one (1) year from the original purchase date or
thirty (30) days after replacement whichever occurs later. Our responsibility with respect to this limited
