Introduction
Thank you for choosing Vello and congratulations
on your new BG-C5.2 bat ter y grip purchase. Enjoy
the many benefits that a battery grip offer s, such as
extended shooting time and more cont rol and comfor t
when shooting in a ver tical (portrait) orientation.
The Vello BG- C5. 2 is compatible wit h the Canon T2i/
T3i/ T4i SLR camer a. The BG-C5.2 accepts two Canon
LP-E8 rechargeable batteries, or six AA batteries
(alkaline, Ni-MH, lithium, or nickel-manganese) can
be used instead for added convenience. The BG-C5.2
is equipped with an alternate shut ter -release but ton,
aper ture/exposur e compensation bu tton, AF point
selection/magnify button, AE lock /FE lock/lndex/
Reduce button, and main dial for shooting in a vertical
position.
Please read through this entire manual before using the
BG- C5.2 battery grip.

Precautions
1. Th e BG-C5 .2 sh ould onl y be use d wit h co mpat ible
devices specified in this manual.
2. Only use with batteries and batte ry holders
recommended in this manual.
3. Cover the power terminals wi th the contact cap
when the BG-C5.2 is not in use. This prevents
electrical shorts caused by metal objects touching
the power ter minals.
4. When the battery holder is removed from the
grip, remove the batteries or place the holder in
a container to preve nt electr ical shor ts caused by
contact wi th other met al object s.
5. If you notice smoke , an unusual smell or noise from
the battery pack, discontinue use immediately.
Remove the bat ter ies and take the device to a
Vello authorized reseller.
6. Turn the grip power off when not shooting
vertically.
7. The battery level may not display properly if
batteries are inser ted before mounting the grip.
8. Remove bat ter ies from the grip when not in use.
9. Do not attempt to disassemble.
10. Avoid water or ex treme humidit y and keep in a
dry and cool place.
11. Keep out of reach of children.

Attaching The Grip
1. Ensur e that t he power is
turned off on the camer a
and that the power switch
is set to OFF on the
battery grip.
2. Remove the bat ter y
from the camera battery
compar tment.
3. Open the camera battery
chamber cover at a 35º
angle and gently pull the
cover to remove i t.

4. To prevent loss, place the
camera battery chamber
cover into the BG-C5.2
battery chamber holder.
5. Remove the protective
cap and connect the BGC5.2 grip to the camera,
while aligning the grip’s
mounting screw with the
camera’s tripod socket.
6. Rotate the attachment
wheel in the direc tion
shown by the ar row until
it is firmly tightened.

remove batteries, and replace

Inserting Batteries
1. Ensur e that t he power is
turned off on the camer a
and turn the batterychamber latch counterclock wise to open the
battery chamber door.
2. Canon LP-E8 B atteries:
Insert up to two batteries
(into any slot) by matching
the power contacts with
the LP-E8 battery holder.
Press the battery down
and slide it in the dir ection
of the ar row.
3. Inser t the BG-H11 batte ry
holder into the grip and
turn the latch to lock it, as
indicated by t he arrows.

4. AA Batteries: Place six
new AA batteries of
the same type into the
AA battery holder as
shown , while ensuring
that they are in the
correct orientation.
5. Insert the holder into the
grip and lock as shown.
Switch the gr ip power
to ON and then turn
on the camer a’s power.
Check t he bat ter y level
in the control panel or
viewfi nder.
6. Household Power Outlet:
The Canon ACK- E8
AC Power Adapter Kit
(sold separately) can be
connected to the gr ip.
Place the DC coupler
through the small groove
on the back of the grip.
Ensure that the cord
doesn’t get pinched by the
battery holder.

the original purchaser under normal use for a period of one (1) year from the original purchase date or
