about positioning, operating, maintenance and technical data, etc.
This user manual applies to the VELA Tango 50.
Important
Please read this manual carefully and keep it for future reference. It must always be
readily available to the user. This user manual must always be kept with the chair.

The chair is made by VELA, Vermund Larsen A/S, Goeteborgvej 12, 9200 Aalborg SV,
Denmark. The VELA Tango is designed for indoor use by people with slight disabilities.
1.1. SAFETY
This chair carries the CE-mark and complies with all current EU regulations. Remove the
CE-mark, when rebuilding the product or when using other than original VELA spare
parts and fittings.
RECYCLING
Many of the materials used in the chair’s construction can be recycled. Deliver the chair to
VELA or our local recycling centre.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Compliace with the EMC-demand according to: IEC 60601-1-2.Be carefull under use
of e.g. mobile phones, high frequency medical equipment. If you have any questions,
please do not hesitate to contact VELA or your local dealer.

1.2 WARRANTY
his warranty applies only to products purchased in the United States through our
authorized partner Ri LLC. VELA A/S warrants this product to be free from any defects in
material or workmanship. The warranty only applies to the original purchase and
terminates if you transfer, modify or sell the product.
Warranty period:
- Frame, backrest arm, armrest bars and armrest fixture – Lifetime (the time you own it)
- Seat mechanism, gas spring or electric actuator – 2 years
- Others, except high-wear items including, but not limited to, castors, textiles and
batteries – 1 year
This warranty does not apply to normal wear and tear to products, nor to high-wear
items. This warranty does not cover fading, discoloration or natural variations occurring in
leather and fabrics. This warranty does not apply to normal wear and tear or damage
caused by accident, neglect, misuse or improper installation or operation. This warranty
does not cover damage caused by a carrier of transportation of the product, alterations
made by owner, or customer´s own material.This warranty is based upon a single 8-hour
shift usage only.
If there is a defect within the warranty period you shall send a written notice of the defect
to VELA’s US partner Ri LLC. Ri LLC and VELA will decide if the defect is to be repaired or
replaced by a new product.
Please read the user manual carefully for information on correct maintenance of the
product.
REPAIR
If there is a fault on your chair you should contact your dealer at once. Defective chairs
should not be used. If your chair needs reconditioning or repair, only original VELA parts
must be used.
Accessories or available spare parts which are broken can be forwarded to VELA for
repair. If fault in the fundamental parts, the whole chair need to be returned to VELA for
repair. R82 will not be held responsible for damage or injury caused by use of
non-original parts or repairs made by a non-authorized VELA person.
1.3. UNPACKING THE CHAIR
VELA Tango is supplied in cardboard packaging which is developed and produced to
ensure the least possible impact on the environment and with focus on ease of use. In
case of defects or transport damage to the chair, please contact VELA immediately. You
must not try to repair any damage yourself or start using the chair.
The box in which the chair was supplied should contain:
- VELA Tango fitted with any additional accessories

1.4. MAINTENANCE OF VELA TANGO
We recommend that you have your VELA Tango serviced once a year to identify any

defective or worn parts. However, removable parts should be regularly checked and
tightened. When adjustments have been made, then make sure to tighten up. It is
important to fasten all screws on the chair on a regular basis. All screws which secure
the accessories have to be checked, at least once a month. Further, it is important to be
aware of any indications of beginning faults on the frame, PVC parts and the like.
The gasspring functions without any maintenance. Do not expose the gasspring to
pressure, high temperatures or perforation
Wheels
Wheels should be regularly checked and cleaned of any fluff etc.
Base
Wash regularly with a mild solution of lukewarm water and pH-neutral washing-up
liquid.
Upholstery
The fabric is made of polyester, which only needs to be vacuumed occasionally and
wiped with a cloth rinsed in clean water and tightly wrung. Make sure to remove any
stains as quickly as possible. Always use a moist clean, white cotton cloth. For more
stubborn stains, use a bit of mild washing-up liquid. Do not use any cleaning materials
containing chlorine or methylated spirit. Any incontinence cover should be machinewashed on a gentle cycle.
1.5. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
To ensure correct use of the VELA Tango, please note the following:

Always remember to lock the chair in position when transporting VELA Tango. No one
should sit in the chair while it is being transported.

Air pressure: ppp up to 0.6 miles above sea level
STABILITY AND BALANCE
VELA Tango is designed to be used on a daily basis at work or in the home. It is intended
for quiet, seated work. All movements in VELA Tango have a bearing on the chair’s
centre of gravity. To enhance safety, we recommend the following:

HEIGHT ADJUSTMENTHEIGHT ADJUSTMENT
The height of the VELA Tango 50 can be adjusted using the
gas springs. This is done by pulling the small lever under
the seat. (left side)
BACK-HEIGHT
The back can be adjusted by pulling the lever. The lever can
be found behind the seat.
ARMREST
The height as well as the width of the arm rests can be
adjusted.
HEIGHT-ADJUSTMENT
The height is adjusted by loosening the lever. Remember to
tighten them well again.
WIDTH-ADJUSTMENT
The width is set by loosening the lever and adjusting the
width.
Remember to tighten the levers again.
BRAKE
VELA Tango 50 has a centralbrake. The hand-brake is
pushed forwards to lock the wheels and backwards to
release them.

Folding foot ring
You can push the folding foot ring up and down just by
pushing the ring with your foot.
1.6. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
1.6.1. STABILITY AND BALANCE
The VELA Tango is designed as an everyday chair at home. It is intended for
sedentary work and not as a wheelchair. All movement in the VELA Tango have an
impact on the placement of the centre of gravity.
To increase the safety, we recommend:
• Maximum user weight is 275 lbs., however the activity level is a significant factor.
A person with very forceful movements using the chair should contact a sales
consultant from VELA/VELA Distributor before purchase
• Do not stand on the chair
• Do not stand on the footring. It is only intended for getting on and off
• The chair is not intended as a wheelchair
• During transportation, the chair should always be locked
1.6.2. RECYCLING
Some of the chair’s material can be recycled. Deliver the chair to VELA’s distributor or
your local recycling installation.
