1.0. INTRODUCTION
Dear customer,
Thank you for choosing VELA Salsa, which is certain to give you years of enjoyable use. The user manual contains useful information on set-up, operation, maintenance, technical data etc.
This user manual describes VELA Salsa 100/110/120/130.
Important
Please read this manual carefully and keep it for future reference. It must always be readily available to the user. This user manual must always be kept with the chair.

The chair is made by VELA, Vermund Larsen A/S, Goeteborgvej 12, 9200 Aalborg SV, Denmark. The VELA Tango is designed for indoor use by people with slight disabilities.
1.1. SAFETY
This chair carries the CE mark and complies with all current EU regulations.Remove the CE-mark, when rebuilding the product or when using other than original VELA spare parts and fittings.

1.2 WARRANTY
VELA offers a 1-year warranty against defects in workmanship and materials. The warranty applies only if original spare parts and accessories are used, and always provided that adjustments are carried out by authorised service technicians. The warranty does not cover accidental damage, including damage caused by misuse or neglect. The warranty does not extend to non-durable parts, which are subject to normal wear and tear and need periodic replacement. VELA assumes no liability for damage to the product or injury to the user as a result of:
• Transport
• Misuse
• Ordinary wear and tear
• Incorrect use
• Using non-original spare parts and accessories
• Adjustments carried out by unauthorised service technicians
VELA reserves the right to inspect the product being claimed for and the relevant documentation before agreeing to the warranty claim, and to decide upon whether to replace or repair the defective product. It is the customer’s responsibility to return the item being claimed for under warranty to the address of purchase. The warranty is given by VELA or, subsequently, an VELA dealer.
REPAIR
If there is a fault on your chair you should contact your dealer at once. Defective chairs should not be used. If your chair needs reconditioning or repair, only original VELA parts must be used.
Accessories or available spare parts which are broken can be forwarded to VELA for repair. If fault in the fundamental parts, the whole chair need to be returned to VELA for repair. VELA will not be held responsible for damage or injury caused by use of non-original parts or repairs made by a non-authorized VELA person.
1.3. UNPACKING THE CHAIR
VELA Salsa is supplied in cardboard packaging which is developed and produced to ensure the least possible impact on the environment and with focus on ease of use. In case of defects or transport damage to the chair, please contact VELA immediately. You must not try to repair any damage yourself or start using the chair.
The box in which the chair was supplied should contain:
- VELA Salsa fitted with any additional accessories
- This user manual
1.4. MAINTENANCE OF VELA SALSA
We recommend that you have your VELA Salsa serviced once a year to identify any defective or worn parts. However, removable parts should be regularly checked and tightened. When adjust­ments have been made, then make sure to tighten up. It is important to fasten all screws on the
chair on a regular basis. All screws which secure the accessories have to be checked, at least once a. month. Further, it is important to be aware of any indications of beginning faults on the frame, PVC parts and the like.
The gasspring functions without any maintenance. Do not expose the gasspring to pressure, high temperatures or perforation
Wheels
Wheels should be regularly checked and cleaned of any fluff etc.
Base
Wash regularly with a mild solution of lukewarm water and pH-neutral washing-up liquid.
Upholstery
The fabric is made of polyester, which only needs to be vacuumed occasionally and wiped with a cloth rinsed in clean water and tightly wrung. Make sure to remove any stains as quickly as possible. Always use a moist clean, white cotton cloth. For more stubborn stains, use a bit of mild washing-up liquid. Do not use any cleaning materials containing chlorine or methylated spirit. Any incontinence cover should be machine-washed on a gentle cycle.
1.5. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
To ensure correct use of the VELA Salsa, please note the following:

Always remember to lock the chair in position when transporting VELA Salsa. No one should sit in the chair while it is being transported. Temperature during transport: -104 degrees to +158 degrees Humidity: 15%-95% Air pressure: ppp up to 0.6 miles above sea level
1.5.2. STABILITY AND BALANCE
VELA Salsa is designed to be used on a daily basis at work or in the home. It is intended for quiet, seated work. All movements in VELA Salsa have a bearing on the chair’s centre of gravity. To enhance safety, we recommend the following:
• Maximum user weight is 275 lbs., however the level of activity is a key factor. A person withMaximum user weight is 275 lbs., however the level of activity is a key factor. A person with extreme movements in the chair should contact a sales consultant before purchase

1.5.3. RECYCLING
Many of the materials used in the chairs construction can be recycled. Deliver the chair to VELA or our local recycling centre.

1.1. SAFETY

1.6. VELA SALSA USERMANUAL
SEAT HEIGHT
To adjust the seat height, just push the lever placed at your right hand. The gas spring should always be replaced by
a VELA technician or other qualified person with relevant experience.
SEAT TILT
The seat tilt is changed by using the lever, placed in the right side, behind the armrest.
SEAT ROTATION (SOME MODELS)
You can rotate the seat 90° to the left and 90° to the right by using the lever placed at your left hand. Pull out the lever to use the open rotation.
BACK HEIGHT
The back height is changed by using the lever, which is placed on the back of the chair. Remember to tightend the lever again.
BACK TILT
The back tilt can be changed by using the lever, placed on the right side.

BRAKE
VELA Salsa has a centralbrake. The hand-brake is pushed forwards to lock the wheels and backwards to release them. The brake can easily be changed to the other side if requested. Just remove the rubberstop and place the brake in the hole.
ACCESSORY
ARMREST
The height as well as the width of the armrests can be adjusted.
HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT
The height is adjusted by loosening the lever. Remember to tighten them well again.
WIDTH ADJUSTMENT
The width is set by loosening the lever under the seat and adjusting the width. Remember to tighten the levers again.
POSSIBILITY– HEIGHT LEVELS
The start height levels can be changed from low to high model. (See sketch on the outer tube). It may only be performed by a technician from VELA, or by a person trained in this field.

The sitting height may be adjusted corresponding to the length of the gasspring (5.9 inches).
In addition the basic setting may be adjusted in four heights. Gasspring of 3.9 - 7.8 inches is optional.
