DEAR CUSTOMER
Thank you for purchasing a VELA Jive. This user
manual contain useful information about positioning,
operating and maintenance of VELA Jive chairs.
Important
Please read this user manual thoroughly and keep
it for later use. This user manual must always
accompany the chair. The user manual is also
available on VELA’s website: www.vela-medical.com,
where you also can find other relevant information
about VELA Jive chairs.
If you have any questions, please contact VELA’s
distributor in your country.
VELA reserves the right to make changes to this

1.1. SAFETY
This chair bears the CE mark and
conforms to all applicable EU rules.
The stool is manufactured by VELA,
Vermund Larsen A/S, Goeteborgvej
8-12, 9200 Aalborg SV, Denmark.
VELA Jive El is tested according to
DS/EN1335-1-2-3 oce chair safety
and stability. The chair also have
got the EMC test according to EN
61000-6-2 Radiated immunity, ESD
/ EN 61000-6-3 Radiated emission,
Electrical safety according to EN
60601-1 & 60601-1-2.
1.1.1. USAGE
VELA Jive is an indoor chair
designed for sitting persons.
:: The chair is not build to stand on.
:: For safe transfer of a person to
and from the chair, it is possible
to brake the chair on the wheels.
VELA Jive 100/100El is tested and
approved for a maximum user
weight of 110 kg (17st 4,5lbs).
1.1.2. TRANSPORT
By transport in car, by plain or other
means of transport, always use
the chair’s brake. The chair is not
approved as a passenger seat in
means of transportation and should
not be used as such.
The chair withstands the following
transport specifikations:
Temperature: -40°C (-40°F) to
+70°C (+158°F)
Humidity: 15-95%
Air pressure: PPP up to 1000 meters
(3280 ft) above sea level
1.2. WARRANTY
VELA provides warranty by the laws
and regulations which are debt in the
country the chair is bought in. The
warranty only applies when using
original spare parts and accessories.
Modification may only be carried out
by authorised service technicians.
VELA does not accept responsibility
for damage or injury to the product
or user, which have arisen due to:

1.3. UNPACKING THE CHAIR
VELA Jive is supplied in cardboard
packaging, developed with consideration for the environment.
If there are any parts missing or
transport damage to the chair, please contact your dealer immediately.
Do not not try to repair any damage
or use the chair.

1.4. MAINTENANCE
We recommend your VELA Jive
undergoes an annual service to find,
for example, defective or worn parts.
1.4.1. WHEELS
VELA recommend that the wheels
are checked in regular intervals e.g.
to remove possible thread remnants.
1.4.2. FRAME
Clean with water, possibly with a PH
neutral soap.
1.4.3. UPHOLSTERY
Fabric: Clean with upholstery clea-
ners or wipe it with a tightly wrung
cloth rinsed in clean water.
Imitation leather: Clean with water
or mild soap.
Medical textiles: Clean as described
above. Can also be cleaned with
disinfectants and alcohol.
Leather: Cleen by vacuuming it
using a soft dusting brush. Avoid
cleaning products.
1.5. RECYCLING
Several parts of the chair can be reused. Please return the chair to VELA
or to your local recycling center.

1.6. USER MANUAL
Replacement of the gas spring may only be performed
by the service support team from your dealer or a
skilled technical person.
1.6.2. ADJUSTMENT OF SEAT HEIGHT VELA JIVE EL
Is operated by pressing your heel towards the front edge of the
foot plate. Press the right side of the front edge to lift the seat,
and press the left side of the front edge to lower the seat.
Note: Also available with height adjustment operated by foot
(see section 1.6.11.) and by hand (see section 1.6.16).
1.6.3. PLACEMENT OF PLUG VELA JIVE EL
The plug is located in the left side of the footplate (under the
seat). The plug can be removed and is used for charging the
chair.
Note: Height function may only be used continuously for two
minute, then nine minutes of break.
1.6.1. ATTACHING THE BACKREST
The lever (1) for backrest adjustment must be in open position. Press the
locking pin spring (2) and push the backrest arm through the protective cap
and through the hole. Tighten the lever afterwards. The lever for backrest
adjustment should be pulled through the protective cap (3) as shown!
Note: The backrest arm must be pushed through completely so the pin
spring locks the backrest arm. Make sure it cannot be pulled out again.
1.6.4. ADJUSTMENT OF SEAT HEIGHT VELA JIVE 100
Adjust the seat height by pushing the front lever placed at your
right hand.

1.6.6. ADJUSTMENT OF BACK ANGLE
Adjust the back tilt by pulling the rear lever placed at your
right hand.
1.6.7. ADJUSTMENT OF BACK HEIGHT
Adjust the back height by using the lever placed on the back of
the chair. Remember to tighten the handle again afterwards.
1.6.8. ADJUSTMENT OF ARMREST, HEIGHT OPTIONAL
Adjust by loosening the screw on the armrest bar and regulate
the height of the armrest. Remember to tighten the screw
again.
1.6.5. ADJUSTMENT OF SEAT TILT
Adjust the seat tilt by pulling the middle lever placed at your
right hand.

1.6.12. ADJUSTMENT OF SEAT HEIGHT BY FOOT CONTACT
OPTIONAL
Is operated by pressing your foot down on the contacts placed
on the front wheel towers. Press the right contact to lift the
seat, and press the left contact to lower the seat.
1.6.10. ROTATION VELA JIVE 100
The seat is rotated by pulling up the forward handle on the left
side.
1.6.9. ADJUSTMENT OF ARMREST, WIDTH OPTIONAL
Adjust by loosening the screw underneath the seat and
regulate the width of the armrest. Remember to tighten the
screw again.
1.6.11. WHEEL BRAKE
VELA Tango brakes by pressing down on the brake. The chair
have two brakes on the front wheels. Release the brakes by
lifting the brake up to original position.

1.6.13. BACK LATCH VELA JIVE W/ CY BACKREST
The backrest can be set to a specific angle by adjusting and
secure the the bolt which is mounted on the back of the chair
back.
1.6.14. CHARGING VELA TANGO EL
Daily charging is recommended. Place the plug (see section
1.6.2.) in the charger - if the chair is charging, an yellow LED is
illuminated. If the chair is fully charged the LED is green.
Note: The chair should not be used during charging.
1.6.15. BATTERY INDICATOR UNDER SEAT VELA JIVE EL
Daily charging is recommended. The chair is fully charged
when the battery indicator has four lines and the charger lights
up green.
1.6.16. ADJUSTMENT OF FOOT PLATE OPTIONAL
The footrest is height adjusted by moving the lever, which is
placed on the left side of the footrest-tube.
Move the footplate to its lowest position. Remove the lever and
move the tube to the desired leg length. The lever is screwed
into the first available hole. Remember to tigthen afterwards.

1.6.19. ADJUSTMENT OF ARMREST FOR SURGEON’S CHAIR,
HEIGHT OPTIONAL
Adjust by loosening the screw on the armrest bar and regulate
the height of the armrest. Remember to tighten the screw
afterwards.
1.6.20. ARMREST FOR SAMPLE COLLECTION OPTIONAL
The armrest is adjust by loosening the screw under the cushion
and regulate the angle of the armrest. Remember to tighten
the screw afterwards.
1.6.17. ANGLE CONTACT OPTIONAL
Mounted under the left or right armrest - depending on the
users needs.
1.6.18. ARMREST FOR SURGEON’S CHAIR OPTIONAL
Adjust by loosening the screw on the armrest and regulate the
angle. Remember to tighten the screw afterwards.
Adjust the cushion back- and forwards by loosening the screw
placed on the armrest. Adjust the cushion in the wanted
position. Remember to tighten the screw afterwards.

1.6.21. ARMREST W. BALL AND SOCKETJOINT OPTIONAL
The armrest is adjust by loosening the screw under the cushion
and regulate the angle of the armrest. Remember to tighten
the screw afterwards.
1.6.22. ERGOREST ARM SUPPORT OPTIONAL
Ergorest arm support is multi-movable. Adjust the arm support
to the wanted width and height for the user (Se section 1.6.8.
og 1.6.9.). Remember to tighten the screws afterwards.
