WARRANTY INFORMATION

3-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY

HYDRO-HOT® HYDRONIC HEATING SYSTEM

H2E-200-01E

Vehicle Systems, Inc. warrants the Hydro-Hot’s Boiler Tank assembly to be free from defects in material
and workmanship under normal use and conditions for a period of three years. The Hydro-Hot’s other
major components will be warranted for the first two years of operation under normal use and conditions;
this will include both parts and labor costs. This limited warranty period commences upon the vehicle’s
original registration date and may not exceed forty-eight months from the original date of delivery by Ve­hicle Systems, Inc. Replacement parts are warranted for the remainder of the Heater’s standard warranty
coverage or for six months, whichever is greater.

The intent of this warranty is to protect the Heater’s end-user from such defects, which would occur in the
manufacturing of the product. Thus, problems due to improper specifications, improper installations, im
proper use, the use of accessory parts or parts not authorized by Vehicle Systems, Inc., repair or installation
by unauthorized persons, and damage or abuse of the Heater are specifically excluded from warranty cover­age.

Vehicle Systems, Inc. garantie que le boîtier de la chaudière du Hydro-Hot sera sans défaut de matériel ou de fab­rication pour une période de trois (3) ans lorsqu’utilisé en conditions normales. Les autres composantes
principales du Hydro-Hot seront garanties pour les deux (2) premières années de fonctionnement, en
conditions normales ; ceci inclut le coût des pièces et de la main-d’œuvre. Cette période de garantie limitée débute
à la date de l’enregistrement originale du véhicule et ne peut pas excéder la date de livraison originale par Vehicle
Systems. Inc. de plus de quarante-huit (48) mois. Les pièces de remplacement sont garanties pour la période la
plus longue, soit jusqu’à échéance de la garantie standard du système de chauffage ou soit de six (6) mois.

dommages ou à des abus au système de chauffage sont spécifiquement exclus de la couverture de cette garantie.

INTRODUCTION

This manual should be maintained in legible

condition and kept in a safe, easily accessible

place for future reference.

Please read the complete Owner’s Manual prior

to operating the Hydro-Hot Hydronic Heating
System. Also, be sure to fill out and mail in the
Owner’s Information Card located at the front

of this manual.

The Hydro-Hot Heating System is an on-board Hydronic
Heating System (heating with hot water) that provides
interior zone heating where and when it is needed, as well as
a continuous, on-demand supply of domestic hot water. Both
heating features are accomplished by a 12 Volt-DC powered
Diesel-Burner and a 120 Volt-AC powered Electric Heating
Element.

These two heating sources maintain the temperature of the
Hydro-Hot’s antifreeze and water heating solution. In addi­tion, the Hydro-Hot has been designed to preheat the vehicle’s
engine prior to starting. This preheat feature provides an easy
engine start-up whenever cool weather conditions are pres­ent. Be sure to reference Figure 1 for a complete component

overview.

NOTE: This Hydro-Hot product utilizes a propylene glycol

based antifreeze and water heating solution. This
propylene glycol based solution is a Boiler type
antifreeze, which is “Generally Recognized as Safe”
(GRAS) by the FDA. For additional information
regarding this “GRAS” antifreeze product, please
reference Appendix A, contact Vehicle Systems’
Technical Support Department at 1-800-685-4298, or
visit the website at www.vehiclesys.com.

Le système de chauffage Hydronic Hydro-Hot est un sys­tème embarqué de chauffage à l’eau chaude qui fournit du
chauffage intérieur par zone à l’endroit et au moment requis,
et qui fournit une source d’eau chaude domestique à volonté.
Ces deux services sont réalisés par un brûleur diesel contrôlé à
12 Vcc et par un élément de chauffage électrique fonctionnant
à 120 Vca.

Ces sources de chaleur maintiennent la température de la
solution d’antigel et d’eau du Hydronic Hydro-Hot. De plus,
le Hydronic Hydro-Hot a été conçu pour préchauffer le moteur
du véhicule avant son démarrage. Ce préchauffage facilite le
démarrage du moteur par temps froids. Voir figure 1 pour une
vue d’ensemble des composantes.

NOTE : Ce Hydronic Hydro-Hot utilise une solution de

chauffage d’antigel à base de propylèneglycol et
d’eau. Cette solution basée sur le propylèneglycol
est un antigel à chaudière qui est généralement
reconnu comme étant sécuritaire (GRAS) par la FDA

The Hydro-Hot’s Exhaust is HOT!

DO NOT park in areas where dry conditions exist under­neath the vehicle, as a fire may result (e.g., in a dry, grassy
field)!

procedure will activate the Diesel-Burner and the indicator
light located on the “Diesel” switch. Allow 10-20 minutes for
the Hydro-Hot System to reach operating temperature. Please
note that the Diesel-Burner is the primary heat source for
heating both the interior and the domestic hot water (such as
when cool ambient temperatures exist and/or when there is a
high demand for domestic hot water).

DO NOT operate the Hydro-Hot’s Diesel-Burner inside an
enclosed building!

The Heater must be switched

DO NOT operate the Diesel-Burner and/or Electric Heating

Element without the antifreeze and water heating solution in
the Hydro-Hot’s Boiler Tank. Failure to do so will cause seri-
ous damage to the Heater.

Also, please note that the Electric Heating Element is a
secondary heat source for heating both the interior and the
domestic hot water during low heating demand situations
(such as when moderate ambient temperatures exist and/or
when there is a low demand for domestic hot water).

Mettez le commutateur Electric à ON : voir figure 2. Ceci
va allumer l’élément de chauffage électrique à 120 Vca et
le voyant situé sur l’interrupteur Electric. Attendre de 1 à 2
heures pour que le système Hydro-Hot atteigne sa température
de fonctionnement.

Notez que l’élément de chauffage électrique est la source
secondaire de chaleur pour chauffer l’intérieur et l’eau
domestique (lorsque la température ambiante est moyenne ou
lorsqu’il y a une demande faible d’eau chaude domestique).

NOTE: Both the Diesel-Burner and the Electric Heating

Element are thermostatically controlled. Either, or
both, heating sources will automatically maintain
the temperature of the Hydro-Hot’s antifreeze and
water heating solution between approximately 160
and 190˚F (±5). Therefore, to heat the motorhome/
domestic hot water, simply choose the desired heat
source(s) and leave the switch(s) (i.e., “Diesel” and/
or “Electric”) ON.

Zone Thermostat Operation

Interior Room Thermostat:

Simply adjust each Interior Room Thermostat to the desired
temperature. Then, whenever an Interior Room Thermostat
“calls-for-heat,” the Hydro-Hot’s Circulation Pump and
Interior Heat Exchanger Fans will be activated. These
devices, together, will supply warmth and comfort to each
interior heating zone. Please contact the specific motorhome
manufacturer for the exact location of the Interior Room
Thermostats.

Fresh Water Tank Thermostat:

Simply adjust the Thermostat (i.e., Bay Heating) to
approximately 40ºF. This will prevent freezing of the
domestic water storage system. Please contact the specific
motorhome manufacturer for the exact location of the Fresh
Water Tank Thermostat.

Using the Domestic Hot Water System

When the Hydro-Hot is at operating temperature, the domestic
water is automatically heated as it is being used. Because the
Hydro-Hot does not store any hot water, simply open any hot
water faucet and a continuous supply of domestic hot water
will be present within a few seconds. This hot water feature is
continuous and is accomplished by the Hydro-Hot’s Domes­tic Hot Water Heating System. Please note that the “Diesel”
switch must be ON to get an unlimited supply of hot water
(e.g., during showers).

NOTE: The Hydro-Hot’s “Domestic Water Priority

System” disables the interior zone heating fans, zone
circulation pumps, and the engine preheat pump
whenever domestic hot water is being used on a
continuous basis (e.g., during showers). Once the
demand for continuous domestic hot water ceases,
the Hydro-Hot will enable the fans and pumps to

Réglage des thermostats de zone

Thermostat de pièce intérieur :

Réglez chaque thermostat à la température désirée. Lorsqu’un
thermostat opérera pour demander de la chaleur, la pompe
de circulation du Hydro-Hot démarrera et ainsi que les
ventilateurs des radiateurs. Ces appareils fourniront alors
chaleur et confort à chaque zone de chauffage intérieure.
Consultez le fabricant de l’autocaravane pour connaître
l’emplacement exact des thermostats.

Thermostat du réservoir d’eau fraîche domestique :

Réglez le thermostat à environ à 4 °C (40 °F). Ceci empêchera
le gel du réservoir de l’eau fraîche. Consultez le fabricant

de l’autocaravane pour connaître l’emplacement exact du
thermostat du réservoir d’eau fraîche.

Fonctionnement du système d’eau chaude
domestique

Lorsque le Hydro-Hot est à sa température de fonctionnement,
l’eau domestique est automatiquement chauffée au fur
et à mesure qu’elle est utilisée. Quoique le Hydro-Hot
n’emmagasine pas d’eau chaude, si vous ouvrez un robinet
d’eau chaude, un débit continu d’eau chaude sera disponible
après quelques secondes. Ce service est continu et est
accompli à l’aide du système de chauffage d’eau chaude
domestique du Hydro-Hot. Notez que l’interrupteur Diesel
doit être à ON pour un débit continu d’eau chaude
(ex. : durant les douches).

NOTE : Le système de priorité d’eau domestique du Hydro-Hot

interrompt les ventilateurs et les pompes de circulation
du chauffage intérieur ainsi que le préchauffage du
moteur quand l’eau chaude est utilisée de façon continue
(durant les douches). Lorsque la demande continue
d’eau chaude cesse, le Hydro-Hot remet en fonction les
ventilateurs et les pompes et fournit de la chaleur aux
