When using the vacuum cleaner, basic safety precautions should
always be observed, including the following:
1. Only use the vacuum cleaner indoors on dry surfaces.
2. Turn off the vacuum cleaner controls before disconnecting or
connecting from the mains supply.
3. Always unplug the vacuum cleaner before connecting or
disconnecting the vacuum hose and accessories.
4. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play
with the appliance.
5. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including
children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities,
or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been
given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance
by a person responsible for their safety.
6. Use only as described in this manual. Use only Vax
recommended attachments.
7. Do not use the vacuum cleaner if it has been dropped, damaged,
left outdoors or dropped into water. Do not use the vacuum
cleaner with a damaged cord or plug.
8. Do not pull or carry by cord. Do not use the cord as a handle,
close a door on the cord or pull cord around sharp edges or
corners. Do not run the vacuum cleaner over the cord. Keep
the cord away from heated surfaces.
9. Do not handle the plug or vacuum cleaner with wet hands.
Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces.
10. Do not put any objects into openings. Do not use with any
openings blocked and do not restrict airflow. Keep all openings
free of dust, lint, hair or anything that might reduce airflow.
11. Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers and all parts of the body away
from openings and moving parts.
12. Do not vacuum hot coals, cigarette butts, ash, matches or any
hot, smoking or burning objects.
13. Do not vacuum flammable or combustible materials (lighter
fluid, petrol, kerosene etc.) or use in the presence of explosive
liquids or vapours.
14. Do not vacuum harmful or toxic material (chlorine, bleach,
ammonia, drain cleaner etc.).
15. Do not vacuum plaster dust, concrete dust, or any other
building or vitreous materials.
16. Don not vacuum baking soda or any other powder-based
carpet refresher or deodoriser.
17. Do not vacuum hard or sharp objects such as glass, nails,
screws, coins, etc.
18. Do not use the vacuum cleaner with blocked filters and without
all the filters and dust bag in place.
19. Take extra care when vacuuming on stairs.
20. Keep vacuuming area well lit.
21. Store the vacuum cleaner in a cool, dry area.
22. Turn off the on/off switch before unplugging the vacuum cleaner.
23. Use only SAA-approved 10 amp extension cords. Non-approved
cords may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the cord
so that the cord cannot be tripped over.
WARNING: Always switch off and unplug the vacuum
cleaner from the electrical outlet before assembling,
opening or emptying the dirt container, or before
connecting/disconnecting the attachments.
CAUTION: The vacuum cleaner is a very powerful unit.
Before plugging the cord into the electrical outlet, make
sure the switch is in the ‘off’ position.
IMPORTANT: If the inlet, hose or telescopic tube is
blocked, switch off the vacuum cleaner and remove the
blockage(s) before re-starting the vacuum cleaner.

IMPORTANT: It is very important that filters are kept clean
to obtain maximum performance from your vacuum cleaner.
Not cleaning and not replacing your filters regularly can
reduce the suction power and cause overheating and
permanent damage to the vacuum cleaner.
NOTE: If the supply cord is damaged it must be replaced
by the manufacturer, or a similarly qualified person in
order to avoid a hazard, or invalidating the warranty.
IMPORTANT: Vax recommends the use of a Residual Current
Device with a Residual Current Rating of 30mA or less.
IMPORTANT: The motor is equipped with a thermal
cut-out. If for any reason the unit should overheat, the
thermostat will automatically turn the unit off. Should this
occur, unplug the vacuum cleaner from the electrical outlet
and turn off the switch. Remove dirt container and empty.
Clean filters. Allow the unit to cool for approximately one
(1) hour. To re-start, plug into an electrical outlet and
switch back on.
DAMAGE TO THE VACUUM CLEANER CAUSED AS A DIRECT
RESULT OF NOT ADHERING TO THE GENERAL SAFETY
INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS IN THIS USER GUIDE
INVALIDATES THE WARRANTY.
INFORMATION: The accessories are stored in the dust bag compartment and need to be removed before
operating the vacuum cleaner.

Assembling your vacuum cleaner
Unclip the locking clips and
remove lid.
Replace lid by aligning handle
with rear parking slot and
hose outlet.
Remove accessories and
dust bag.
To lock lid in place, ensure clips
are pressed down fully and fl ush
with surface.
Slide dust bag opening over hose
inlet and ensure it is secure.

Align hose and turn clockwise

Push together the two metal extension tubes and attach the hose and fl oor head.
Operation
Connect the dusting brush to the
handle or tube to clean delicate
surfaces such as window sills
and desks.
Carpets
To clean carpets push the switch
forwards.

Attaching the cord
Attach the power cord to the
vacuum canister.
Press power button once to turn
on machine. Machine will start in
high power.
Form a loop in the cable and
slide into retaining clip.
Press eco button to move
between high/low power modes.
Pull down to secure.
After use, loop power cord in hand
and store on rear hook.
NOTE: The machine will
not function properly
unless the cord is secured
in the retaining clip.

Cleaning the HEPA cloth pre-motor lter: quick clean
CAUTION: Do not wash the lter as this will damage the medium.
Raise the locking clips and lift lid.
Cleaning the HEPA cloth pre-motor lter: deep clean
CAUTION: Do not wash the lter as this will damage the medium.
For a deeper clean remove the lter and use the dusting brush to clean
both sides.
For a quick clean simply use the
dusting brush to remove debris
from the HEPA pre-motor lter.

Cleaning the foam pre-motor lter
WARNING: Avoid direct heat sources as these will damage the lter.
Max 40°

Remove the pre-motor lter.Rinse under cold water.Leave to fully dry in natural sunlight.
Filter replacement
To maintain optimum performance check lters whenever you replace the dust bag. Replace the lters if they
become damaged or discoloured.
Cleaning the combination fl oor tool
24hrs
To maintain optimum performance, regularly inspect and clean the combination fl oor tool. To do this, place the
fl oor tool in hard fl oor mode and remove any hair or bres from the bristles.
Checking castors and wheels
To help maintain the smooth movement of the machine, regularly check the front castors and rear wheels and
remove any hair or bres.

Is there an accessory missing?
• Check the ‘Machine Overview’ (page 3) to make sure the part is denitely included in your unit.

Why will the vacuum cleaner not run?
• It may not be plugged into the electrical outlet correctly. Ensure that the plug is pushed into the electrical
outlet securely.
• The electrical outlet may not be working. If unsure consult an electrician.
• The motor thermostat may have tripped. Switch o and unplug the vacuum cleaner. Leave for one hour before
switching the vacuum cleaner back on.
Why won’t the vacuum stay in “Eco” mode?
• When the machine is turned o and then back on it returns to full power mode. To re-enter “Eco” mode, press
the green “Eco” button once.
Why won’t the vacuum cleaner pick up?
• Dust bag may be full or incorrectly installed; remove the dust bag from the unit and if not full, re-attach as
shown on page 4.
• The lter may be clogged; refer to ‘Maintenance: Cleaning the lters’ on page 7 and 8.
• The lter may not be tted correctly; refer to ‘Maintenance: Cleaning the lters’ on page 7.
• There may be a blockage in the tube or hose. Disconnect the hose from the vacuum cleaner, carefully remove
any blockages found and reconnect securely.
Why won’t the accessories pick up properly?
• Accessories may not be attached securely; ensure tools are tted correctly as shown on page 5.
• Accessory may be blocked; remove accessory from handle/tube and carefully remove blockage and re-attach
to the vacuum cleaner.
Why is dust escaping from the vacuum?
• The lter may be clogged; refer to ‘Maintenance: Cleaning the lters’ on page 7 and 8.
• The dust bag may be full; remove the bag and if full, t a new bag as shown on page 4.
• Dust bag may be incorrectly installed; remove the dust bag from the unit and re-attach as shown on page 4.
• The hose may not be installed correctly, remove and ret as shown on page 4.
