Taking care of your carpets and hard oors
The Performance Floors & All is designed to make vacuuming carpets and hard oors regularly, as eective and ecient as possible and this user guide will help you get the most out of your machine.
Maintaining your carpets and hard oors will ensure they keep their appearance for longer. You’ve chosen carpets and hard oors for your home for a reason and Vax will help you take good care of them.

Also inside this guide are instructions on maintaining your new machine, so that it’s always ready when you are to tackle your carpets and hard oors.
This vacuum cleaner is intended for household use only and NOT for commercial or industrial use.
• Only use the vacuum cleaner indoors on dry surfaces and keep the area you’re cleaning well lit.
• Keep ngers, hair and loose clothing from moving parts and openings whilst using the vacuum cleaner.
• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience
and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
• Only Vax recommended tools should be used with this vacuum cleaner.
Please keep instructions for further use and use only as instructed in this guide.
Basic safety precautions
3 Turn o all controls on the vacuum cleaner before
disconnecting or connecting the power cord, hose or accessories.
3 Always make sure both the pre-motor/post motor
lters are in place before use.
3 Always take extra care when positioning the vacuum
cleaner on the stairs.
3 Keep all openings clear and free from debris as this
may aect the airow/suction.
3 Always replace the fuse in the plug with a British
13amp fuse. Always protect the power cable from heated surfaces and open ames.
3 Use only CE approved 13amp extension cords, non-
approved extension cords may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the extension cord as it could be a trip hazard.
3 Store your vacuum cleaner in a cool, dry area.
If lters have been cleaned as per user guide instructions make sure they are thoroughly dry before storing away.

8 Don’t use the vacuum cleaner if it has been dropped,
damaged or left outdoors.
8 Don’t run over the power cord or use the vacuum
cleaner if the power cord or plug is damaged. Please contact our Customer Care Line.
8 Don’t handle the plug or use the vacuum cleaner with
wet hands.
8 Don’t use the power cord as a handle, pull the power
cord around corners, sharp edges, close a door over the power cord or unplug the vacuum cleaner by pulling on the power cord.
8 Don’t vacuum up sharp or hard objects or any
ammable or combustible materials (lighter uid, petrol, kerosene etc.) or use the vacuum cleaner in an area with explosive vapours or liquid.
8 Don’t vacuum up hot coals, cigarette butts, matches
or smoking hot burning items or use in an area where there may be harmful uids (chlorine, bleach, and ammonia drain cleaner).
8 Don’t attempt to remove blockages with sharp objects.
8 Don’t use the vacuum cleaner with incorrect voltage
as this may result in damage or injury to the user. The correct voltage is listed on the ratings label.

Push the hose into the hose clips on the machine.
Wrap the power cord around the quick release cord hook and the lower cord hook, continue wrapping the power cord until it is secure.
Assembling your upright
Twist the quick release cord hook to release the power cord.
Plug in the machine. Press the power on/o button to turn on.
Place your foot gently onto the oorhead and pull the handle back to recline the machine.
Before you begin cleaning
• Always switch o and unplug the vacuum cleaner before connecting or disconnecting the hose/attachments, or removing and emptying the dirt container.
• The vacuum cleaner is equipped with a thermal cut-out. If for any reason the vacuum cleaner does overheat the thermostat will automatically turn the vacuum cleaner o. If this happens, switch the vacuum cleaner o and unplug from electrical socket. Remove and empty the dirt container also check the vacuum cleaner for blockages. Allow the vacuum cleaner to cool for approximately 1 hour (if you have cleaned the lters please wait 24 hours for the lters to fully dry before putting back into the vacuum).
• For best cleaning results lters require cleaning at least every 3 months.
• If the vacuum cleaner is blocked, switch o and unplug before removing the blockage.
• When using the accessories always make sure the brushbar is switched to the o position.
Getting started Using your machine
PLEASE READ ‘LET’S TALK SAFETY’ AT THE BEGINNING BEFORE USE
Place the dirt container onto the main body and click into position.
Align the main body with the oor head and push into place.
Push the hose into the hose to handle connector and twist to lock into position.
Insert the extension tube into the top of the main body and click into place.
To release the handle with extension tube press the extension tube release button and lift the handle to remove.
Using the oorhead without the main body
To remove the main body: Hold the dirt container handle, press the main body release button and lift to remove.
Put the main body to one side, use oorhead for dicult to reach places.
Press extension tube release button and lift the handle to remove.
Press handle release button, pull extension tube to remove.

Press extension tube release button and lift handle to remove extension tube.
Hold dirt container over a bin and press the dirt container release button to open, allowing dirt to fall out.
Choose an accessory. Attach accessories to the
end of extension tube or handle.

Always hold the vacuum cleaner when using the hose or extension tube.
TIP
Don’t overll the dirt container to avoid clogging the lter.
When re-attaching the dirt container, align the base rst then push until you hear an audible click. The dirt container is now locked in place.
Tap the lter over a bin to release any dirt.
Wash the lter under running water (40oC max).

TIP
Always make sure the shroud is fully dry and correctly tted before replacing back into the machine.
Grasp tab on lter and pull to remove.

Press button on post motor lter cover and remove.
Lift the shroud from the dirt container and tap over a bin to remove dirt and debris.
Tap the post motor lter over a bin to remove any dirt and debris and replace it into the machine.
Pull the post motor lter from the machine.
Wash the shroud under running water (Max 40’C) and leave to fully dry for at least 24 hours before replacing back into the dirt container.

Switch o your vacuum cleaner at the main socket. Using a pair of scissors, cut any hair or debris free from around the brushbar.
Remove the rubber ring. Push both buttons to open
the turbo tool.
Using a pair of scissors, cut any hair or debris free from around the brushes.
Switch o and unplug your vacuum cleaner. Recline the vacuum and lie it on its front, remove 5 screws to release brushbar cover.
Lift the brushbar out of the oor head and remove the drive belt.
Remove the brushbar cover and push the oor head into reclined position.
Remove the drive belt and any debris from the spindle. Loop new drive belt around the spindle rst and then onto the brushbar. Insert the brushbar back into oor head and replace the brushbar cover, insert 5 screws to secure.

Check the ‘This pack contains’ panel on the box to make sure the
part is included with your machine.
The plug may not be fully pushed into the electrical socket.
Check the fuse in the plug if this needs replacing, always replace
with a British 13amp fuse.
The motor thermostat may have tripped. If this has happened,
unplug the vacuum cleaner. Remove and empty the dirt container and check the hose for blockages Clean the lters and allow the vacuum cleaner to cool for approximately 1 hour (if you have washed the lters you will need to wait 24 hours for the lters to fully dry before putting them back into the vacuum cleaner).
The brushbar may be clogged, check the brushbar and clear any
hair or debris.
The belt may be broken, go to ‘Let’s talk technical’.
The dirt container may be installed correctly, remove the dirt container and
re-attach making sure it is clicked rmly into place.
There may be a blockage in the hose. Please remove the hose from the
vacuum cleaner, check and clear any blockages.
Dirt container may be blocked, empty the dirt container and clean lters.
Go to the ‘Taking care of your machine’.
If the accessory/tool will not pick up, check and clear any blockages.
The brushbar may not be turning. Go to ‘My brushbar isn’t turning’ below.
