• Always make sure both the pre-motor/post-motor lters arein place before use.
• Always ensure the brushbar is raised to the highest setting whenusing the vacuum cleaner on the stairs and take extra care whenpositioning the vacuum cleaner on the stairs.

• This vacuum cleaner is tted with a constantly rotating brush bar. To avoiddamage to your ooring, make sure the brush bar is raised to the highest settingwhen using the accessories and when using on stairs.
• Only Vax recommend tools should be used with this vacuum cleaner,use of non-branded Vax accessories/tools will invalidate your warranty.
• Don’t unplug vacuum cleaner by pulling on the power cord.
• Don’t vacuum up any ammable or combustible materials (lighter uid,petrol, kerosene etc.) or use the vacuum cleaner in an area withexplosive vapours or liquid.
• Don’t vacuum up hot coals, cigarette butts, matches or smoking hot burningitems or use in an area where there may be harmful uids (chlorine, bleach,and ammonia drain cleaner).
• Don’t attempt to remove blockages with sharp objects as this may cause damageto the vacuum cleaner. Remove blockages only as instructed in this guide.
• Don’t vacuum up hard or sharp objects such as glass, nails, screws or coins etc.
• Don’t use the vacuum cleaner with incorrect voltage as this may result in damageor injury to the user. The correct voltage is listed on the ratings label.
• Always switch o the vacuum cleaner before disconnecting or connectingthe hose and accessories.
• Keep all openings clear and free from debris as this may aect the airow/suction.
• Always replace the fuse in the plug with a British 13amp fuse. Always protectthe power cable from heated surfaces and open ames.
• Use only CE approved 13amp extension cords, non-approved extension cordsmay overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the extension cord as it canbe a trip hazard.
• Store the vacuum cleaner in a cool, dry area. If lters have been cleaned as perthe user guide instructions ensure they are thoroughly dry before storing away.

Initial Setup for normal operation
1.Use the base accessories.– Shortest hose– Extension tube set to shortest practicable length.
2.Clean lters installed.
3.Dust receptacle empty.
4.All Bleeds must be closed.
5.Floor heads/tools set to Carpet Mode for carpet cleaning.
6.Mechanical Agitation turned ON for carpet cleaning.
7.Floor heads/tools set to Hard Floor Mode for hard oor cleaning.

PLEASE READ ‘LET’S TALK SAFETY’ AT THE BEGINNING BEFORE USE
Assembling your upright
Getting started
Insert the back panel into the oorhead.
Place the dirt container onto the machine and push until it clicks into place.
Insert the lower quick release cord hook into the hole at the bottom of the back panel.
Insert the extension tube into the handle.
If your model comes with a TurboTool
Now take the small clip and push it down between the post-motor lter cover and back panel, overthe quick release cord hook to lock into place.
Push handle into the top of the machine until it clicks into place.
Insert the end of the hose into the tube at the back of the machine and connect the hose end to the oorhead.
Push TurboTool holder on to the handle.
Clip TurboTool into position.

Using your machine
Before you begin cleaning
• Always switch o and unplug the vacuum cleaner before connecting or disconnecting the hose/attachments, or removing andemptying the dirt container.
• The vacuum cleaner is equipped with a thermal cut-out. If for any reason the vacuum cleaner does overheat the thermostatwill automaticallyturn the vacuum cleaner o. If this happens, switch the vacuum cleaner o and unplug from electricalsocket. Remove and emptythe dirt container also check the vacuum cleaner for blockages. Allow the vacuum cleanerto coolfor approximately 1 hour (if you have cleaned the lters please wait 24 hours forthe lters to fully dry before putting back intothe vacuum).
• For best cleaning results, lters should be tapped over a bin every 4-6 uses to remove dirt and debris and washedevery 3 to 6 months (depending on the level of use).
• If the vacuum cleaner is blocked, switch o and unplug before removing the blockage.
• When using the accessories always make sure the brushbar is raised to the highest setting.
IMPORTANT: When the vacuum cleaner is stood in the upright position or when using on stairs and the hose/tools,the brushbar height adjust dial must be set to hard oor.
How to use
Twist the quick release cord hook to release the power cord.
Choose your desired carpet height or hard oor setting.
Using the Hard Floor Adaptor
Applythe Hard Floor Adaptor for optimum results on hard oors.The Hard Floor Adaptor can be used on any oor setting.
Lie vacuum cleaner on its back exposing brushbar.
Align Hard Floor Adaptorwith base of vacuum cleaner, push until its clicks into place.
Plug in your machine and push On/O button to switch on.
Don’t over ll the dirt containerto avoid clogging your lter.
To ensure the Hard Floor Adaptor is correctly tted, the wheels should be towards the backof the oor toolwhen attached to vacuum cleaner.

Using accessories
Using your machine
Remove hose end from the oorhead.
Choose an accessory. “turbo tool somemodels only”.
Extension tube
Remove extension tube from inside the handle.
Turn the extension tube and attach to the handle.
Using your machine on the stairs
Hold the machine to steadywhen using on the stairs. Always make sure the brushbar is overhanging the stairtread during use.
Attach accessory adapterto hose end.
Attach hose to the top of the handle.
If required use tool connector.
Push accessoryon to the extension tube.
This machine has a constantlyrotating brushbar. When using the machine on stairs, ensure the height adjuster dial is set to hard oor and the brushbar is overhanging the stairtread (as pic-tured). Always take extra care when cleaning stairs.

Taking care of your machine
Emptying and cleaning the dirt container
Press dirt containerrelease button to remove the dirt container.
Hold dirt container overa bin and unclip the lock on the bottom of the dirt container, allowing the dirt to fall out.
Cleaning the pre-motor lter
Turn the dirt containerlid anti-clockwise.
Lift the dirt container lid to remove.

Close the base of the dirt container, align the dirt container base back onto the machine and push until it clicks back into place.
Lift to remove thepre-motor lter
Tap the lter over a bin to remove any dirt/debris
Wash the lter underrunning water (40°C max).
Leave to fully dry for at least 24 hours before placing back in the machine.
Wash lters with warmwater (MAX 40°C)at least every3 months.

Cleaning the shroud
Taking care of your machine
Turn the dirt containerlid anti-clockwise and lift to remove.
Remove the pre-motor lterto allow access to the shroud.
Post-motor lter maintenance
Twist post-motor ltercover anti-clockwise and lift to remove.
Remove the lter.Check the post-motor lter
Removing debris from the brushbar
Tap the shroud over a bin to remove dirt and debris.
for discolouration.
Using a soft brush or drycloth wipe the remaining dirt /debris from the shroud
Using a pair of scissors cut any hair or debris free from around the brushbar.
Always switch the machine o and unplug before carrying out any maintenance.

Let’s talk technical
Removing blockages from the TurboTool (some models only)
Remove the rubber ring.
Changing the belt
Push both buttons to open the TurboTool.
Using a pair of scissors, cut any hair or debris free from around the brushes.
Switch o yourvacuum cleaner at the main socket and unplug. Unclip the 2 small wheels from the base of the vacuum to enable you to remove the screws from behind. Note: The screw forthe height adjuster dial is located here.
Remove the 9 screws from the base of the oorhead cover.
If the hose or telescopic tube is blocked, switch othe vacuum cleaner and remove the blockage(s) before re-starting the vacuum cleaner.
CAUTION
Remove the oorhead cover.
Lift the brushbarfrom the machine to remove the belt. Remove and dispose of the old belt. Remove anythreads or hair caught around the brushbar
Clean any debris from the spindle and place the new belt onto the brushbar and hook onto the spindle.
Once the belt has been replaced attach the brushbar back onto the vacuum.
Replace the oorhead cover, 2 small wheels and height adjuster dial byscrewing back into place.

What to do if it goes wrong

• Check the ‘This pack contains’ panel on the box to make sure the partis included with your machine.
• The plug may not be fully pushed into the electrical socket.
Why does myvacuum cleanerhave no power?
Whywon’t the vacuum cleaner pick up?
My brushbarisn’t turning
• Check the fuse in the plug if this needs replacing, always replace witha British 13amp fuse.
• The motorthermostat may have tripped. If this has happened, unplugthe vacuum cleaner. Remove and emptythe dirt container and checkthe hose for blockages.
• Clean the lters and allow the vacuum cleanerto cool forapproximately 1 hour (if you have washed the lters you will need towait 24 hours forthe lters to fully dry before putting them back intothe vacuum cleaner).
• There may be a blockage in the hose. Please remove the hose from thevacuum cleaner, check and clear any blockages.
• Emptythe dirt container and clean lters.Go to the ‘Taking care of your machine’.
• The brushbar may not be turning. Go to my brushbar isn’t turning below.
• If the accessory/tool will not pick up, check and clear any blockages.
• The brushbar may be clogged, check the brushbar and clear any hairordebris. Go to ‘Let’s talk technical’.
• The belt may be broken. Go to ‘Let’s talk technical’.
IMPORTANT: To reduce the risk of personal injury, unplug the vacuum before performing maintenance/troubleshooting checks.
