The Steam Fresh Combi Classic is designed to make steam cleaning your hard oors and surfaces regularly, as eective and ecient as possible, and this user guide will help you get the most out of your machine.
Maintaining your hard oors and surfaces with the Steam Fresh Combi Classic will ensure they keep looking beautiful, smell fresh and are hygienically clean.

Basic safety precautions
3 Always ll the water tank with water only. Never add perfume,
stain remover or products containing alcohol. Filling the water tank with hot or boiling water will damage the steamer and invalidate the guarantee

Always vacuum your carpets thoroughly and ensure hard oor
areas are free from grit and debris before using your steamer

Always unplug the steamer before carrying out any
maintenance

Turn o all controls on the steamer before disconnecting or
connecting the power cord, after use always wrap the power cord around the cord clips provided

Take extra care when cleaning on the stairs
3 Always replace the fuse in the plug with a British 13amp fuse.
Always protect the power cord from heated surfaces or near open ames

Use only CE approved 13amp extension cords, non-approved
extension cords can overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the extension cord as it could be a trip hazard

Store the steamer in a cool, dry area away from children.

• Please refer to oor manufacture’s care recommendations before us, and test your ooring/carpet/rugs by running the steamer over a small hidden area, if no pile distortion or no damage occurs continue cleaning. Not suitable for use on wax polished oors or furniture, acrylic surfaces and synthetic, velvet or steam/water sensitive materials
• This steamer should not be used to clean electrical appliances such as microwaves, televisions and electrical heating systems etc
• Only Vax recommended cloths, detergent and accessories should be used with this steamer. Using other detergents will invalidate the guarantee

normal for the steamer and accessories to heat up during use, always allow them to cool down before handling

Push the main body down into the oorhead until it clicks into place.
Push the handle into main body until it clicks into place.
Stand the steamer upright by pushing the main body forward to lock into position.
Assembling your steamer

PLEASE READ ‘LET’S TALK SAFETY’ AT THE BEGINNING BEFORE USE
Insert concentration nozzle into the storage hook on the back of handle.
Press the water tank release buttons and pull the water tank to remove.
Slide the water tank back into the machine until it clicks into place.
Pull the tab on the water tank cap to open.
Fill the water tank with 260ml of water, replace the cap and push rmly to close.
Twist the detergent tank cap anti-clockwise and lift to remove.
Pour 50ml of Vax detergent and 150ml of water into the detergent tank.
Press the release buttons and pull the detergent tank to remove.
IMPORTANT
If you don’t want to use detergent on your ooring, turn detergent dial to OFF position.
• Always test on an inconspicuous area of ooring rst before using detergent.
• Don’t over ll the clean water/detergent tanks or exceed the maximum amount required.
• Don’t use the steamer without water in the water tank. Always top up with water in good time.
Before you Begin WARNING
• The steamer and accessories get very hot during use, always allow them to cool down before handling.
• Always unplug and switch o the steamer when assembling.
• Always switch o the steamer before emptying the water tank or changing the cloths/accessories.
IMPORTANT
• Please refer to oor manufacturer’s care recommendations before use and test the steamer on a hidden area of ooring to begin with.
• Test for colour fastness in a small hidden area of upholstery/fabric to check for colour removal before use.
• When using the steamer, basic safety precautions should always be observed.
• Don’t aim the steamer at people, animals, plants and electrical components or wires. Never touch the steam jet or oor head from a short distance (there is a risk of scalding).
• The steamer is equipped with a thermostat and a thermal cut-out. If for any reason the steamer overheats it will switch o. If this happens turn o and unplug the steamer, allow to cool for at least 2 to 4 hours and re-try.

Insert tools into the back of the steamer.
Replace the detergent tank back into the steamer and push until it clicks into place.
Replace the detergent tank cap and twist clockwise to close.

Always switch OFF the steamer when tting the microbre cleaning pads.

To produce steam squeeze the trigger in short bursts. Don’t hold the trigger continuously to prevent over wetting carpet.
Move the steamer slowly backwards and forwards across the carpet paying particular attention to high trac areas. Squeeze/ release trigger as required.
To release the carpet glider, place your foot on clip and push down. Lift steamer to remove.
Refreshing carpets
Place your foot on oor head and pull handle backwards to recline.
IMPORTANT: Never use the steamer without a cleaning pad attached to the oor head. Never leave the steamer on one spot for an extended period of time or with a damp or wet microbre pad attached as this may damage the oor surface.
IMPORTANT: When using on carpets, always make sure the microbre cleaning pad is used and covers the oor head entirely
before using the carpet glider
Only use the carpet glider when refreshing carpets and turn the detergent dial to OFF
Place the microbre pad on the oor white side facing up. Place steamer onto pad making sure the entire pad covers the oor head.
To steam your oors with detergent turn the dial to ON and without detergent turn the dial to OFF.
Plug into mains and twist on/o control dial to ON.
The blue light will illuminate to indicate power on. The green light will illuminate to indicate the steamer is ready to use.
Place your foot onto the oor head and pull handle backwards to recline.
Using the steamer
Move the steamer slowly backwards and forwards across the oor paying particular attention to high trac areas. Squeeze /release trigger as required.

Hold corner of pad down with your foot and lift steamer to peel away.
Plug into mains and twist on /o control dial to ON.
Place the microbre pad on the oor white side facing up. Place steamer onto pad making sure the entire pad covers the oor head.
With microbre pad attached, push steamer into front of the carpet glider, then place back of the oor head into the clip. The carpet glider should only be used when refreshing carpets.
Turn the detergent dial to OFF when refreshing carpets.

WARNING: Always switch o the steamer before attaching the concentration tool and accessories. IMPORTANT: The handheld is to be used with water only, putting detergent into the water tank can cause damage.
Always check the tools are clean and free from debris, don’t use if damaged, broken or worn.
IMPORTANT:
Taps should be turned o when steaming around them. Don’t steam clean ovens, oven surfaces or grills when hot,
allow to cool to room temperature rst.
Remove water tank and ll before use.
When using the handheld always attach the concentration tool. Push the concentration tool onto the handheld nozzle and twist clockwise to lock into position.
Lift the handheld release button and gently pull the handheld to release from the steamer.

Plug into mains and twist on/o control dial to ON.
Using the handheld steamer
Small tools can be attached via the concentration tool. Twist clockwise until locked into position and secure. Turn anti-clockwise to remove.
To re-attach the handheld to the steamer, align the handheld with the steamer, lift the handheld release button and slide the handheld back into the steamer until it clicks into place taking care not to trap the power cord.

Ideal for any surface from tiles, sinks, toilets and oven tops.
Use to remove soap scum in baths and shower enclosures and to clean heavily soiled areas in kitchens.
Using the tools
Great for leaving your windows, tiles and mirrors gleaming.
Attach the cloth to the squeegee tool for use on upholstery and clothes.
For hard to reach areas e.g. around taps.
Lifts embedded dirt from in between tiles.
Ideal for removing dried on residue from ovens, work surfaces and pans.

TIP
After attaching your chosen tool gently pull to make sure it’s locked into place.

Taking care of your machine
Replacing the hard water lter
Pull to remove the hard water lter.
New lter (beige/cream colour).
Hard water lter should be replaced every 3 to 6 months or if discoloured.
Remove the water tank to access the hard water lter.
To remove the water tank press both water tank release buttons, and pull to remove.
Emptying the water/detergent tanks
Pull the tab on the water tank to open.
Using your foot, hold the corner of the microbre cleaning pad down, lift steamer to peel away.
The microbre pad is machine wash­able (Max 40⁰C) allow to fully dry before use.
Wrap the power cord around the quick cord release hooks and insert the plug into the plug storage socket.

IMPORTANT: Allow the steamer to fully cool down before performing any maintenance or troubleshooting checks. Don’t leave water or detergent in the tanks between uses, as this can eect the steamer’s performance, the water/detergent tanks need to be emptied and rinsed after each use.
IMPORTANT: Don’t use bleach or fabric softener when washing the microbre cleaning pad. Always allow the steamer to fully cool down before removing the microbre cleaning pad.
Empty any excess water over the sink.
Rinse water tank with water and replace water tank tab, push rmly to close before replacing back onto the steamer.
Press the release buttons and pull the detergent tank to remove.
Emptying the detergent tank
Twist detergent tank cap anti-clockwise and lift to remove.
Empty any excess detergent over the sink.
Rinse detergent tank with water, replace detergent tank cap and turn clockwise to tighten. Replace the detergent tank back onto the steamer
3-6 Months
IMPORTANT: Don’t operate the steamer without hard water lter in place. The condition of the lter aects the performance of your steamer, check and change lter periodically. If you live in a hard water area the lter will discolour or darken over time. Depending on water hardness and frequency of use, the lter should be changed every 3 to 6 months (or if the lter has discoloured)
If there is an obstruction to the steam ow through the machine, steam may be released through the bleed valve located on the side of the handheld.
With the pad removed from the oor head, insert a small thin object such as a paper-clip in to the steam holes to remove a blockage.
To remove the oor head from main body push the oor head release button and lift.
After oor head is removed, using a thin object such as a paper-clip (in the area shown), insert to remove the blockage.

• Check the ‘This pack contains’ panel on the box to make sure the part is included with your steamer.
• Check the on/o control dial
• The plug may not be fully pushed into the electrical socket
• Check the fuse in the plug if this needs replacing, always replace with a British 13amp fuse
• The microbre pad may already be saturated or dirty. Wash the microbre cleaning pad, go to ‘Taking care of your machine’.
• There may be no water in water tank, check the water tank has water.
• Check the water tank is securely tted and the hard water lter is in place.
• Hard water lter may be blocked or discoloured and needs to be replaced.
• Make sure the handheld is tted securely in the steamer.
• The water may not yet be at temperature, the green indicator light will be illuminated when it is ready.
• Steam path may be blocked. Go to ‘Let’s talk technical’.
• Detergent must not be used in the handheld. Putting detergent into the water tank can cause damage to the steamer.
• Check correct setting has been selected on detergent dial, turn dial to ON.
• Check the detergent has been diluted to correct strength.
