General Safety Information
FOR HOUSE HOLD USE ONLY.
When using the vacuum cleaner, basic safety precautions should
always be observed, including the following:
1. Only use the vacuum cleaner indoors on dry surfaces.
2. Turn off the vacuum cleaner controls before disconnecting or
connecting from the mains supply.
3. Always unplug the vacuum cleaner before connecting or
disconnecting the vacuum hose and accessories.
4. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play
with the appliance.
5. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including
children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities,
or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been
given supervision or instruction concerning use of the
appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
6. Use only as described in this manual. Use only Vax
recommended attachments.
7. Do not use the vacuum cleaner if it has been dropped, damaged,
left outdoors or dropped into water. Do not use the vacuum
cleaner with a damaged cord or plug. If the supply cord is
damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service
agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
8. Do not pull or carry by cord. Do not use the cord as a handle,
close a door on the cord or pull cord around sharp edges or
corners. Do not run the vacuum cleaner over the cord. Keep
the cord away from heated surfaces.
9. Do not handle the plug or vacuum cleaner with wet hands. Do
not use outdoors or on wet surfaces.
10. Do not put any objects into openings. Do not use with any
openings blocked and do not restrict airflow. Keep all openings
free of dust, lint, hair or anything that might reduce airflow.
11. Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers and all parts of the body away
from openings and moving parts.
12. Do not pick up hot coals, cigarette butts, matches or any hot,
smoking ash or burning objects.
13. Do not pick up flammable or combustible materials (lighter
fluid, petrol, kerosene etc.) or use in the presence of explosive
liquids or vapours.
14. Do not vacuum harmful or toxic material (chlorine, bleach,
ammonia, drain cleaner etc.), or concrete or plaster dust.
15. Do not vacuum hard or sharp objects such as glass, nails,
screws, coins, etc.
16. Do not use without ALL of the filters in place.
17. Take extra care when vacuuming on stairs.
18. Keep vacuuming area well lit.
19. Store the vacuum cleaner in a cool, dry area.
20. Turn off the on/off switch before unplugging the vacuum cleaner.
21. Use only SAA approved 10 amp extension cords. Non-approved
cords may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the cord
so that the cord cannot be tripped over.
22. Damaged cord to be replaced by manufacturer or authorised
Vax service agent.
23. We recommend the use of a residual current device with a
residual current rating of 30mA or less.
WARNING: Always switch off and unplug the vacuum
cleaner from the electrical outlet before assembling, opening
or emptying the dirt container, or before connecting/disconnecting
the attachments.
CAUTION: The vacuum cleaner is a very powerful unit.
Before plugging the cord into the electrical outlet, make sure
the switch is in the ‘off’ position. Hold the vacuum cleaner firmly
when starting and in use.
IMPORTANT: If the inlet, hose or telescopic tube is blocked,
switch off the vacuum cleaner and remove the blockage(s)
before re-starting the vacuum cleaner.
Vax recommends that your filters should be checked and
cleaned periodically. If your filters are washable make sure they are
completely dry before inserting back into the vacuum cleaner.
NOTE: If the supply cord is damaged it must be replaced by
the manufacturer, or a similarly qualified person in order to
avoid a hazard or invalidating the warranty.
IMPORTANT: The motor is equipped with a thermal cut-out.
If for any reason the unit should overheat, the thermostat will
automatically turn the unit off. Should this occur, unplug the vacuum
cleaner from the electrical outlet and turn off the switch. Remove
dirt container and empty. Clean filters. Allow the unit to cool for
approximately one hour. To re-start, plug into an electrical outlet and
switch back on.
This machine is intended for household use only, and NOT
for commercial or industrial use.

Operation
How to assemble
IMPORTANT: Always unplug the vacuum cleaner from the electrical outlet before assembling
or removing the accessories.
Insert the exible hose into
the inlet on the main body
of the vacuum cleaner.
Push in until it clicks into
position.
Push the telescopic
extension tube on to the
end of the handle.
The telescopic extension
tube can be lengthened
or shortened by pushing
the button and sliding the
tube apart or together
as required.
Fit the combination oor
head by pushing onto the
extension tube.
How to operate
Cord Release
Fully unwind the power cord. A yellow mark on the power cord indicates the recommended cord length.
Do not extend the cord length beyond this mark.
On/O Button
Insert the power plug into the electrical outlet. Press the on/o button located on the top of the vacuum cleaner
to start. Press the button again to turn the vacuum cleaner o.
Carpet Cleaning
For carpet and rug cleaning press the rocker switch on the combination oor head to raise the brushes.
Hard oor cleaning
For hard oor cleaning, press the rocker switch on the combination oor head to lower the brushes.

Cord Rewind
To rewind the power cord, press the cord rewind button and guide the power cord with one hand.
Rewind 1-1 ½ metres of cord at a time. This will prevent the cord from whipping which could cause
damage or injury.
Carry Handle
Use the carry handle located on the top of the machine to move the vacuum cleaner from room to room.
Hose Storage
For convenience there is a slot located on the rear of the vacuum cleaner where the oor tool and hose
can be parked for carrying and storage.
Power Indicator
Located on the top of the machine, a green light will indicate that the machine is working correctly.
Full Dirt Container Indicator
Located behind the carry handle on the unit, the indicator light will illuminate red when the dirt container
has become full, empty the dirt container. If the light stays on check the lters, hose, wand and oor tool
for any blockage.
Accessories
The accessories can be attached directly to the handle by removing the telescopic tube and pushing in the
desired accessory. The accessories can also be attached to the telescopic tube for extra reach. Remove the
combination oor head and push on the desired accessory.
Dusting brush: for delicate surfaces.
Crevice Tool: for crevices, corners, sills, and cracks.
Large Turbo Brush: for deep cleaning of large carpet surfaces and rugs. Ideal for picking up pet hair.
Turbo Tool: Ideal for cleaning upholstery, stairs, car interiors.

Dirt Container: Removal and Replacement
WARNING: Always unplug the vacuum cleaner from the electrical outlet before removing the dirt container.
WARNING: Do NOT use the vacuum cleaner without ALL of the lters and dirt container in place.
Emptying the Dirt Container
NOTE: The dirt container must be emptied every time the dirt reaches the max line.

Button
After removing the exible
hose, press the dirt
container locking button
on the top of the machine.
Remove the dirt container
and position over a rubbish
bin. Press the button
as indicated to empty the
dirt container.
The central lters, may then be wiped with a damp cloth
to remove dirt residue. Allow to air dry completely
before replacing back in the dirt container lid and using
the vacuum cleaner.

Cleaning the Pre-motor and Post-motor lters
NOTE: Vax recommends regularly cleaning the lters (depending on level of use) to optimise the
performance of the vacuum cleaner.
NOTE: Do not use any detergents or boiling water to wash the lters (max 40°C).
NOTE: Allow lters to completely dry before replacing back into the machine. We recommend
24hrs to dry completely.
Cleaning the Pre-motor Foam Filter
Remove the dirt container
as previously directed.
Remove the lters as
shown above.
The pre-motor foam lter,
may be rinsed in luke
warm water (max 40°C).
Allow to thoroughly air dry
before replacing.
Clean Cage Filter
Separate the lter assembly by removing the foam lter
from its plastic housing. Tap the foam lter on the inside
of a rubbish bin to remove excess dust and dirt from lter.
Cleaning the Post-motor HEPA Filter
Release the post-motor
cover by pressing in
the catch at the top of
the cover.
NOTE: This is located
at the rear of the vacuum
cleaner.
The post-motor HEPA lter can be removed and rinsed
in luke warm water (max 40°C). Allow to thoroughly air
dry before replacing (allow 24hrs).
Replace the post-motor HEPA lter back in the case
and return to the vacuum cleaner.
