Thank you for purchasing the VariZoom VZ-PG-F12 remote variable-speed zoom controller for Fujinon 12-pin video lenses. We think you’re going to like it a lot. Here are some important guidelines for safe and effective operation…
Connection: Insert the VZ-PG-F12 cable connector
into the lens servo jack located under the lens handle (FIG. 1). Be sure to match the locator notches carefully. When properly connected, the connector should be firmly seated in the jack. The connector should snap into place when properly aligned.
SET THE SWITCH MARKED “ZOOM - S/M” TO “S” (1a). THIS TOGGLES THE LENS BETWEEN Servo and Manual MODES (YOU WANT IT SET TO Servo MODE)
WARNING: DAMAGE NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. TREAT THE CONNECTOR GENTLY WHEN CONNECTING AND DISCONNECTING IT FROM THE LENS.
ABUSE OF THE CONNECTOR MAY RESULT IN

Power: The VZ-PG-F12 controller does not require
batteries or external power. Just plug the cable into the lens servo
ack, and it’s ready to use.
Tripod / Jib Mount: Your VZ-PG-F12 controller
comes with a quick-release swivel clamp for attaching firmly to your tripod handle, shoulder support or crane/jib. Extension cables are available from VariZoom in 10’, 20’ or 50’ lengths.

FIG. 1
Recording: Press the button above the zoom rocker to activate the
record/pause function on the camera.
Video Return: The recessed black button allows you to see what
has been recorded through the viewfinder.
Zoom: Your VZ-PG-F12 controller features dual speed control. First, set
the speed control knob to the maximum desired zoom speed. This determines the top speed limit of the zoom (for instance, you might wish to go no faster than a slow crawl). The thumb rocker is pressure sensitive and allows you to smoothly ramp up to that speed and back down again. In other words, the zoom speed is completely variable from the thumb rocker, up to the maximum speed dialed in at the control knob. The speed control knob prevents you from accidentally going faster than intended. When the speed control knob is turned all the way down (completely counter-clockwise relative to the top of the controller), the zoom control feature is turned off. When turned completely clockwise, it is set to the highest speed capability. Zoom command speed depends on the position of the control knob and the depression of the rocker, and the zoom rate will be as fast or slow as your lens servo allows.
*Calibration feature: Should the PG-F12 controller cause your lens to zoom on its own (without depressing the controller rocker), you can easily remedy this problem by adjusting a calibration dial inside the controller (see picture at right “B”). Simply connect the controller to your lens with the camera turned on, remove the lid of the controller, and adjust the calibration dial until the lens no longer zooms on
its own.
