OWNER GUIDE
This Owner Guide is intende d to help you care for your Valor gas fire.
Please read carefully before using your gas fire and keep for future reference.
This Owner Guide gives sufficient details to enable your gas fire to be operated and
maintained.

1. As with any gas appliance, this fire must be installed by a com pet en t per s o n in a c c or dance with the latest edition of the gas safety (installation & use) regulati ons.
2. If the fire is intended to be installed to a chimney which was previously used for solid fuel, please note that the chimney must be swept prior to installation.
3. On no account must the fire stand on carpets or other combustible materials. The fire must stand behind a non-combustible hearth surface at least 880 mm wide and 300mm from front to back. The hearth material must be at least 12.5mm thick. The periphery of the hearth (or fender) should be at least 50mm above floor level to discou rage p l acing carpets, rugs or other combustible material s ov e r i t.
4. The minimum clea ranc e from th e top surfa ce of the fire to the unders ide of any s helf made from wood or other combustible materials is as follows:-
For a shelf up to 150mm deep
Minimum height = 203mm
For a shelf deeper than 150mm
203mm + 12.5mm for every 25mm de pth over 150mm.
5. It should be appreciated that although this appliance conforms to all the applicable standards, it is a heating appliance and certain parts o f its s urfac e will beco me ho t. A suit ab le guard which complies with BS 6539 or 6778 should be used for the protection of young children, the elderly and the infirm. Such a guard is also recommended for th e protect ion of pet ani mals.
6. Always switch the fire off and allow to cool before cleaning or carrying out any maintenance.
7. Never hang clothing, towels or any other fabrics over the fire.
8. This fire is fitted with a device which will automa tica lly s hut off th e supply o f ga s to t he fire if , for any reason, the pi l ot go e s out. If this device does operat e or if the fire is tur ned off accidentally or intentionally, always wait three minutes bef ore attempting to relight.
9. Soft wall coverings (e.g. embossed vinyl etc.) which have a raised pattern, are easily a ffec t ed by heat. They may, therefore, scorch or become discoloured when close to a heating appliance. Please bear this in mind when having a heating a pplia n c e in s t alled and wh en redecorating.
Please note
When operating your fire for the first time, some vapours may be g iven off whic h may caus e a slight odour and could possib ly set off any smoke alarms in the immediat e vicinity . These vapours are quite normal with new appliances. They are totally harmless and will disappear after a few hours use.
It is quite common for the radiants to take on a brown tint after a perio d o f us e . T his is normal w it h all t y p e s o f ceramic radiant and has no adverse effect whatsoever on the performan c e or safety of the appli a nce.
