6. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q. Why is burning unseasoned wood not recom-
mended?
A. • It is more difcult to burn
• Stove glass becomes dirty
• It will increase harmful deposits in the ue, potentially causing corrosive deposits which can damage the ue liner.
Q. Why are there different tree type measure-
ments?
A. The electrical properties of wood types vary so
the Valiant Moisture Meter has 4 settings to give an accurate reading. For general moisture content and unknown tree/wood type select the tree type 3.
Q. What is the typical moisture content of freshly
cut wood?
A. This varies according to the variety and the
time of year the wood is cut, but is typically between 35 and 60%. Always ensure that the wood is below 20% prior to burning.
Q. Will low battery affect the measurement result? A. When the battery power is less than 70%-80%,
the measurement will become less accurate. Replace the battery when the low battery symbol shows.
