N-Charge™ Power System
Safety Information
The N-Charge™ Power System must be used in accordance with the
manufacturer’s specifications and guidelines for recommended use. When
used properly and in accordance with these instructions, the N-Charge™
Power System is a safe, reliable and convenient portable energy solution.
Caution: Misuse or abuse of the N-Charge™ Power
System may result in personal injury or fire.
DO NOT crush, puncture, throw, drop, disassemble or otherwise damage
the N-Charge™ Power System.
Do not use or store above 60°C (140°F). Do not incinerate. Do not operate
or store the N-Charge™ Power System near high temperature locations or
fire.
• The N-Charge™ Power System must be stored between -20°C (-4°
F) and 60°C (140°F).
• The N-Charge™ Power System must be operated between -10°C
(14°F) and 35°C (95°F).
Do not immerse in or apply water or any other liquid to the N-Charge™
Power System.
Use accessory cables manufactured by Valence Technology, Inc. only.
When disconnecting the N-Charge Power Port (NPP) Cable Assembly from
the N-Charge™ Power System or notebook computer, pull using the port
rather than the cable to reduce the risk of damage to the power port or
N-Charge™ Power System.
Use the N-Charge™ Power System with specified equipment only. Charge
only with the AC adapter supplied with your notebook computer. If you
wish to use the N-Charge™ Power System with a different notebook or
mobile device, please contact the manufacturer for a list of suitable options.
Please Note: The International Civil Aviation Organization and the US
HMR prohibit transport of lithium-ion cells or batteries in checked
baggage aboard passenger aircrafts. All lithium-ion batteries must be
transported in carry-on baggage only.

N-Charge™ Power System Limited
Warranty
Valence Technology, Inc. (“Valence”) warrants the N-Charge™ Power System and its
components (“Product”) as free from defects in materials or workmanship under normal
use for a period (“Warranty Period”) of one (1) year from the date of original retail
purchase. This warranty applies to the original purchaser (the “Customer”) only and is
non-transferable.
During the Warranty Period, should the Product, in Valence’s opinion, malfunction,
Valence’s sole liability shall be, at Valence’s sole discretion and at no charge to the
Customer, to either repair or replace the malfunctioning Product with a similar product, or
to refund the purchase price of the Product, provided that the malfunctioning Product is
returned within the Warranty Period, freight prepaid, to the place of purchase or call 888Valence for return instructions. Each returned Product must include a written statement
detailing the nature of the claimed defect, as well as the Customer’s name, address, phone
number and a copy of the original sales receipt showing the date of purchase.
Warranty is void if Valence determines the Product has been:
1. serviced by anyone other than Valence;
2. modified by improper installation of third-party products or otherwise;
3. damaged from accident, misuse, misapplication or abuse;
4. damaged by improper transportation or packing when returned by the
Customer to Valence;
5. damaged by unusual physical stress or interference, failure or
fluctuation of electrical power, lightning, static electricity, fire, or other
acts of God; or
6. operated outside of the parameters of the Safety and Instruction
Manual.
THIS WARRANTY IS MADE IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, WHETHER
EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY IMPLIED
WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A SPECIFIC PURPOSE.
THE REMEDY SET FORTH HEREIN SHALL BE THE SOLE, EXCLUSIVE REMEDY
WITH RESPECT TO THE PRODUCT.
No person is authorized to make any other warranty or representation concerning the
performance of the Product. Some jurisdictions do not allow exclusion of implied
warranties, so the above exclusions may not apply to you. Any limited warranties that
cannot be disclaimed are hereby limited to a term of one (1) year from the date of original
retail purchase or, in the event relevant state law requires an implied warranty term
exceeding one (1) year, for the briefest term allowable under relevant state law. Some
states do not allow limitation on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above
limitation may not apply to you.
Under no circumstances will Valence be liable for any indirect, special, incidental, or
consequential damages, including any loss of revenue, loss of profit, or loss of data
whether based on warranty, contract, tort, or any other legal theory, even if Valence has
been advised of the possibility of such damages. Valence shall not be liable for any claims
made by any third party or made by the Customer directly or indirectly on behalf of any
third party. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or
consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which
vary from state to state.
Valence reserves the right to change Product specifications or to discontinue the Product
or other Valence products without prior notice.
This warranty supercedes all previous Valence product warranties.
Installing Your N-Charge™ Expansion Pack (EP)
• Slide rails onto your N-Charge™ Expansion Pack (EP).
• Notice the edge closest to the locking hole must be installed first.
Setup Guide
• Lock the NPP to the N-Charge™ Power System.
• Place rubber feet on the bottom of the N-Charge™ Power System in
the eight designated circle areas to provide stability on host surface
and improve airflow.
• Align both sides of your N-Charge™ Power System.
• Slide your N-Charge™ Power System using the rails and ensure the
connection to the EP is tight and secure. The buttons should snap
into the rails.
• Disconnect your N-Charge™ Power System from the AC adapter of
your notebook.
• Connect the Power Tip to your notebook AC adapter input. Your
notebook will now draw power from the N-Charge™ Power System.
• To check charge capacity, momentarily depress the Gas Gauge
button.
• When your N-Charge™ Power System is fully discharged, control
will be transferred back to your notebook’s internal battery.
• Gas Gauge Operation is identical with your N-Charge™ Expansion
Pack attached. See Gas Gauge Operation under Step 2-5 of the
Assembling and Charging Your N-Charge™ Power System section.
• Note: You can also charge your N-Charge™ Power System while it
is connected to your notebook by simply attaching your AC adapter
to the Charger Tip on your NPP. Your AC adapter is passing power
directly through to your notebook. Any extra capacity will be used
to charge your N-Charge™ Power System simultaneously.

• Both a Power and a Charger Tip are required to use your N-Charge™
Power System. If you are unable to find your specific model listed in
the printed guide, please contact Valence at 800-VALENCE or
www.valence.com/TODO for information on the selecting the correct
tip combination for your notebook.
• Please select the correct Power and Charger Tip combination for your
notebook. Please consult the Compatibility Guide printed on the back
of the tip retail box to find the right tips for your machine. Choosing
the wrong Power or Charger Tip may damage your computer or
result in malfunction.

Powering Your Notebook
• Disconnect your N-Charge™ Power System from the AC adapter of
your computer
• Connect the Power Tip to your notebook AC adapter input. Your
notebook will now draw power from the N-Charge™ Power System.
• To check charge capacity, momentarily depress the Gas Gauge
button.
• When your N-Charge™ Power System is fully discharged, control
will be transferred back to your notebook’s internal battery.
• Note: You can also charge your N-Charge™ Power System while it
is connected to your notebook by simply attaching your AC adapter
to the Charger Tip on your NPP. Your AC adapter is passing power
directly through to your notebook. Any extra capacity will be used
to charge your N-Charge™ Power System simultaneously.

Troubleshooting Tips
Optimize Performance
Please follow these guidlines to maximize the life of your N-Charge™
Power System and get th e best possible run times with your notebook:
1. We strongly recommend using the optional N-Charge™ Expansion
Pack when using your N-Charge™ Power System with 120W note-
books.
2. Ensure that your N-Charge™ Power System is fully charged before
initial use.
3. Reduce the processor speed of your notebook to the lowest setting.
4. Reduce the screen brightness of your notebook to the lowest level that
is comfortable for you.
5. Ensure that your internal notebook battery is fully charged when using
your N-Charge™ Power System to avoid accidental data loss.
6. Fully charge and discharge your N-Charge™ Power System at least
once a week.
7. Attach the supplied rubber feet to the base of the unit to allow air flow
under the N-Charge™ Power System.
Storage and Handling
1. Extended operation of your N-Charge™ Power System at
temperatures above 45° C (113° F), can reduce cycle life and/or
damage to your system.
2. Do NOT run your N-Charge™ Power System in a fully insulated
area, such as a carrying case.
3. Do NOT leave your N-Charge™ system exposed to direct sunlight.
4. If storing for prolonged periods, disconnect the NPP cable.
5. Store your N-Charge™ Power System in a cool dry place.

Connect Tips to NPP Cable
• Connect the Power Tip (S) and Charger Tip (D) to the N-Charge
System Power Port (NPP) Cable as shown in Figure 1.
• Ensure that the tips are connected tightly to the NPP cable ends and
are not loose.
• Note: If you have already purchased an Expansion Pack, please
refer to the Installing Your N-Charge™ Expansion Pack section.
All others continue with Step 3.
