REMOTE AMPLIFIER ADAPTER
V-5335305
INTRODUCTION
The PagePac® Remote Amplifier Adapter provides a method of extending the speaker coverage of your PagePac paging system, by using an
additional PagePac 6 or AmpliCenter as a r emote
amplifier at remote or off-site locations. Note that
the adapter can not be connected to a 70V output.
For example, the Remote Amplifier Adapter may
be connected to a voice coil speaker cable at the
beginning or at the end of the cable run as appropriate. If used at the end of the run, the Adapter
modular cord (P2) is connected to the PAGE
INPUT Jack (J1) on the “remote” unit. If used at
the start of the run, four wires are used to connect
the remote amplifier. The page signals from the
primary unit are now available from the remote
unit. Adapters may also be used with systems that
provide talkback and zone paging. Music is available to the remote unit from the main unit only if
the Remote Amplifier Adapter is connected to the
music input of the remote unit.

are located in separate bui ldings or when the unit s
are separated by 2,000 feet or more. To accommodate the potential power loss of large distances, the output of the Remote Amplifier
Adapter is 7 db “hotter” than t he “PAGE INPUT” of
the remote D-Series Amplicenter. When connecting two D-Series Amplicenter units, which are
within the same building or within 2,000 feet of
each other, the remote PagePac may be overdriven by the first. To alleviate this potential problem a 200 Ohm 1/4 watt resistor has been
included with each Remote Amplifier Adapter
attached to the “R” (Ring terminal. Attach this
resistor across the “T” and the “R” (Tip and Ring)
terminals when the two PagePac 6 or D-Series
Amplicenter units are within the same building (or
are located less than 2,000 feet from each other).
The 200 Ohm resistor should not be attached
when the remote Amplicenter is in another building or further than 2,000 feet from the first Amplicenter.
To install a Remote Amplifier Adapter, make the
connections shown in Figure 1. A description of
the screw-type terminals locat ed on the ad apter is
provided in Table 1.

SECONDARY CIRCUIT
PROTECTION
Important Information
This equipment is for use on telephone wiring
containing a secondary circuit protector. This paging equipment requires a Secondary Circuit Protector where applicable (see Figure 2).
The secondary circuit protector must be located
between the primary protector and the paging
equipment. Refer to the Safety Information below.
Safety Information
• The Secondary Circuit Protector is used when
connecting paging equipment directl y to
telephone lines that may be exposed to high
voltage power lines.
• Never install telephone wiring during a lightning
storm.
• Never install telephone ja cks in wet locations
unless the jack is specifically designed for wet
locations.
• Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals unless the telephone line has been disconnected at the network interface.
• Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines.
• Use applicable Valcom approved device.
