35 WATT, 70 VOLT ATTENUATOR (V-5335005)
75 WATT, 70 VOLT ATTENUATOR (V-5335001)
3 W ATT, VOICE-COIL 3.4V ATTENUATOR (V-5335010)
INTRODUCTION
A 70 Vo lt attenuator may be installed to cont rol the
volume of a single speaker or of a group of speakers. It can adjust the speaker output from no output up to the maximum output selected by the
speaker power taps.
The Voice-Coil attenuator is used to control the
volume of both cone and horn type voice-coil
speakers (3.4 Volts).

SPECIFICATIONS
FEATURES
• The 35-Watt model is single-gang construction,
and the 75-Watt model is dual-gang construction. When installing the attenuators, the
included deep electrical outlet box must be
used. A standard depth box will not work.
• Voice-coil attenuators are provided in a deep,
one-gang electrical outlet box. When installing
the gang box and mounting the attenuator in the
box, standard industry practices should be followed.
Nominal Specifications
• The 70 Volt attenuators consist of a n auto-transformer and a 10-position switch mounted on a
steel plate. Two different 70 Volt attenuators are
available: 35 Watt and 75 Watt (see Table 1).

INSTALLATION
70 Volt Attenuator
A 70 V olt attenuator must have a power rat ing that
is greater than the sum of all output s f rom the i ndividual speakers it controls. For example, if an
attenuator is controlli ng 3 horn speaker s and each
has an output of 5 Watts, the attenuator rating
must exceed 15 Watt s (5 + 5 + 5). In this case, the
35-Watt model would be used (see Table 1).
Voice-Coil Attenuator
There is a limit to the number of speakers that
may be controlled by a single attenuator. As a
general rule, the limit is 12 cone-type or 3 horntype speakers per attenuator. When using both
horn and cone speakers on a single speaker run,
for the purpose of calculating maximum load per
attenuator, each horn-type speaker is worth 4
cone types (3 Watts maximum load).
See Figure 1 for wire connections between the
amplifier equipment, the speaker(s) and 70 Volt
attenuator.
