SWITCHES AND CONTROLS
PRIVACY/TALKBACK SWITCH
In the “TB” position, this switch allows two-way
communication between the Desktop Speaker
and the paging telephone (once the paging telephone has accessed the speaker). In the “PRIV”
position, talkback is inhibited and the speaker
operates only as a one-way speaker.
OPERATION
The Desktop Speaker is recommended for use
with all PagePac® telephone paging systems (or
equivalent systems) in which talkback is provided
(talkback is two-way communicat ion bet ween the
paging telephone and the paging loudspeaker).
However , the Desktop Speaker may be used wi thout talkback.
It is recommended that each Desktop Speaker,
when used with talkback, be a separate paging
zone. If this is not feasible, the total number of
Desktop Speakers in any one zone should be limited to two or less.
VOLUME CONTROL
The “VOL” control adjusts the speaker volume in
both the page and music modes (see Figure 1). It
does not affect the tal kback level.
INSTALLATION
Place the Desktop Speaker in the desired location. Locate a convenient spot on the wall adjacent to the speaker for the connecting bl ock.
Open the connecting block and att ach it to the wall
using suitable mounting hardware, not supplied
(see Figure 1). Connect the 70V and common
wires from the speaker cord to the “R” and “B” terminals on the connecting block. Connect the red
and black wires from the pagi ng system to the “ R”
and “B” terminals on the connecting block. Connect the shield wire to the “G” termin al (shielded
speaker cable is recommended).
Close the connecting block.

TESTING
Access the Desktop Speaker and ensure that
paging occurs. While a pag e is in progres s, adjust
the speaker volume. While a page is in progress,
place the PRIV ACY/TALKBACK switch in the “TB”
position and verify that two- way communicati on is
possible. Then place this switch in the “PRIV”
position and ensure that talkback is inhibited.
Note: Generally, music volume should be
adjusted at the music source or on the PagePac
AmpliCenter or system amplifier.
