USING THE 19040GM SERIAL COM ADAPTER
The 19040GM Serial COM Adapter is used to connect a PC to the RS-232 line of the
following Vaisala carbon dioxide transmitters:
- GMT220 series industrial transmitters
- GMD/W20 series duct and wall transmitters
- GMW115 wall transmitter
- GMM111, GMM112, GMM220 and GMM20W modules
The Serial COM Adapter has a standard female D-9 connector on the PC end, and a tworow ribbon connector on the device end. The ribbon connector is intended to be plugged
into the five-pin connector on the transmitter, typically marked “Serial COM”.

When connecting the ribbon cable to the Vaisala transmitter, connect the first row of pins
to the connector on the transmitter’s component board (see Figure 2).
You also have to connect the operation power to the transmitter. Refer to the User’s Guide
of the transmitter for power supply requirements and connections.

NOTE
If the serial connection does not seem to be working, power off the
transmitter, turn the connector the other way around, and try again.
