1 General points

1.1 Points to note concerning documentation

With the purchase of your VEN electric storage water
heater, you have acquired a quality appliance from the
Vaillant range of high-performance products. In order to
take full advantage of all the features of this appliance,
it is advisable to dedicate a few minutes familiarising
yourself with these instructions before putting the
appliance into service. Please pay special attention to
the general points and the sections on safety and
operation. These sections contain all the main points
concerning the operation of the appliance, and include
information on available Vaillant accessories that are
designed to make the appliance even easier to use.
Keep this manual in a safe place and ensure it is passed
on to the new owner if you sell or otherwise dispose of
the appliance.

Note that we can accept no liability
whatsoever for any damage or injury that
may result from failure to observe these
instructions.

are intended for the use of authorised
installers only.

1 Généralités

1.1 Remarques relatives à la documentation

Le chauffe-eau électrique à accumulation à écoulement
libre VEN que vous venez d’acheter est un produit de
qualité fabriqué par Vaillant. Pour pouvoir tirer profit de
tous les avantages de votre appareil, prenez le temps,
avant utilisation, de lire attentivement notamment les
chapitres Généralités, Sécurité et Utilisation. Ces
chapitres contiennent tout ce qu’il faut savoir sur
l’appareil et vous fourniront des indications sur les
différents accessoires Vaillant qui faciliteront encore son
utilisation.
Conservez bien les présentes instructions et n’oubliez
pas de les remettre à un éventuel nouveau propriétaire.

Nous ne saurions être responsables des
dommages découlant du non-respect des
présentes instructions.

Met uw elektrisch drukloos warmwatertoestel VEN heeft
u een kwaliteitsproduct uit het huis Vaillant gekocht.
Neem een paar minuten de tijd en lees voor gebruik met
name de hoofdstukken Algemeen, Veiligheid en Bedie­ning zorgvuldig door om alle voordelen van het apparaat
te kunnen benutten. De hoofdstukken bevatten al het
wetenswaardige over het apparaat en geven informatie
over mogelijk Vaillant toebehoren, dat u de omgang met
het apparaat nog meer zal vergemakkelijken.
Bewaar deze gebruiksaanwijzing goed en geef hem door
aan een latere eigenaar.

Voor schade die ontstaat door het niet in acht
nemen van deze handleiding, aanvaarden wij
geen aansprakelijkheid.

1.4 Manufacturer’s guarantee

Vaillant delivers the appliance with this end-user
guarantee. This is in addition to, and does not affect,
your statutory rights.

The guarantee is valid for one year. During this period,
any faults on the appliance found to have been caused
by faulty materials or workmanship will be repaired –
free of charge – by our Customer Service Department.
We shall assume no guarantee liability for faults that
occur for any other reason (e.g. incorrect installation or
failure to operate the appliance as intended).
The validity of the manufacturer’s guarantee depends on
the appliance being installed by a suitably-qualified
installer. The guarantee shall be voided immediately in
the event of repair or servicing work being carried out
on the appliance other than by our Customer Service
Department or an authorised installer. The
manufacturer’s guarantee will likewise be rendered void
if any parts other than those approved by Vaillant are
fitted.
The manufacturer’s guarantee does not cover items
(such as third-party damage liability) that fall outside
the undertaking to carry out repairs free of charge.

1.5 EC approval certificate

The EC approval certificate supplies documentary
evidence that these appliances comply with the basic
specifications (listed in Table A.1) with respect to the
directive governing low-voltage appliances (European
Council Directive 73/23/ EEC) and the directive
governing electromagnetic compatibility (European
Council Directive 89/336/EEC), and that their design has
been duly tested and approved.

1.4 Garantie usine

Vaillant vous accorde cette garantie usine, en tant que
propriétaire de l’appareil, en plus des revendications
légales en matière de garantie que vous pouvez faire
valoir auprès du vendeur de votre appareil.

La période de garantie est d’un an. Pendant cette
période, les défauts matériels ou de fabrication
constatés sur votre appareil par notre service après­vente seront supprimés gratuitement. Nous ne saurions
en revanche garantir les défauts non liés aux causes
citées tels que des défauts consécutifs à une installation
incorrecte ou à une manipulation non conforme aux
prescriptions.
La garantie usine ne vaut que si l’appareil a été installé
par un installateur agréé. Si des travaux sont effectués
sur l’appareil par des personnes extérieures à notre
service après-vente, la garantie usine est annulée sauf
s’ils ont été exécutés par un installateur agréé. La
garantie usine sera également annulée si des pièces non
agréées par Vaillant sont montées dans l’appareil.
La garantie usine ne couvre pas les revendications liées
à la suppression gratuite des défauts, telles que par
exemple des revendications en matière de dommages et
intérêts.

1.5 Sigle CE

Le sigle CE indique que les appareils conformément au
tableau A.1 sont conformes aux exigences de base de la
directive sur la basse tension (directive 73/23/ CEE) et
de la directive sur la compatibilité électromagnétique
(directive 89/336/CEE) et correspondent au produit
agréé.

1.4 Fabrieksgarantie

Vaillant biedt u als eigenaar van dit apparaat deze
fabrieksgarantie in aanvulling tot de garantierechten die
u volgens de wet toekomen U kunt deze naar believen
tegen de verkoper van het apparaat doen gelden.

De garantieperiode bedraagt een jaar; gedurende deze
periode worden aan het apparaat vastgestelde
materiaal- of fabricagefouten door onze
fabrieksklantendienst gratis verholpen. Voor fouten die
niet het gevolg zijn van de genoemde oorzaken, b.v.
fouten door onvakkundige installatie of een behandeling
in strijd met de voorschriften, aanvaarden wij geen
garantie.
Fabrieksgarantie verlenen wij alleen na installatie van
het apparaat door een erkend vakman. Als
werkzaamheden aan het apparaat niet door onze
fabrieksklantendienst worden uitgevoerd komt de
fabrieksgarantie te vervallen, behalve als de
werkzaamheden zijn uitgevoerd door een erkend
vakman. De fabrieksgarantie komt ook te vervallen als er
onderdelen in het apparaat worden ingebouwd die niet
door Vaillant zijn toegelaten.
Claims die verder gaan dan de gratis verhelping van
fouten, b.v. claims op schadevergoeding, vallen niet
onder de fabrieksgarantie.

1.5 CE-kenmerking

Met de CE-kenmerking wordt gedocumenteerd dat
de apparaten volgens tabel A.1 voldoen aan de
fundamentele eisen van de laagspanningsrichtlijn
(richtlijn 73/23/EEG van de raad) en de richtlijn
over de elektromagnetische verdraagbaarheid
(richtlijn 89/336/EEG van de raad) en overeenkomen
met het gekeurde bouwmodel.

2 Safety precautions and regulations

Vaillant VEN electric storage water heaters are made to
the latest technical benchmarks and recognised safety
standards. Incorrect operation of the appliance can
nevertheless lead to the possibility of serious or fatal
injury to the user or third parties, along with
malfunctions in the appliance or other material damage.

Caution!
These appliances are designed for heating
water from the mains supply only. The
appliance may suffer corrosion damage if the
water supply is not of accepted drinking­water quality.

Caution!
The Vaillant electric storage water heater is
not designed to work under pressure, and
should therefore only be installed along with a
Vaillant low-pressure valve assembly.

2.1 Safety precautions

Installation of the appliance, and any repairs that may
be required, should only be carried out by an authorised
service installer.

Danger!
Note that VEN appliances can deliver tap­outlet temperatures of up to 85 °C.

In the event of a malfunction occurring

The safety fuse blows whenever the appliance suffers a
malfunction. The cause of the fault must be determined,
and the fault rectified, by an authorised service installer
before the appliance can be put back into service. Please
refer to section 3.5, page 20 ("Troubleshooting").

Caution!
Do not attempt to repair the appliance
yourself. Do not try to open the appliance.
The safety fuse must only be replaced by an
authorised service installer.

For added safety in the event of a fault occurring, it is
advisable to disconnect the appliance from the mains
power supply at the main switch. If there are any leaks,
ensure also that the cold-water supply inlet valve to the
appliance is shut. Contact an authorised service installer
immediately in order to have the fault repaired.

2 Consignes/prescriptions de sécurité

Les chauffe-eau électriques à accumulation VEN Vaillant
ont été conçus selon les dernières évolutions techniques
et les règles de sécurité reconnues. Ils peuvent
cependant, en cas d’utilisation incorrecte, présenter des
dangers pour la vie et la santé de l’utilisateur ou de tiers
ou constituer une menace pour les appareils et autres
biens matériels.

Attention!
Les appareils doivent uniquement servir à
chauffer de l’eau potable. Si l’eau n’est pas
conforme aux prescriptions de la loi sur l’eau
potable, l’appareil pourra subir des dommages
dus à la corrosion.

Attention!
Le chauffe-eau électrique à accumulation
Vaillant est un appareil sans pression et ne
doit être installé qu’avec une robinetterie
basse pression de Vaillant.

2.1 Consignes de sécurité

L’installation et les réparations éventuelles sur votre
appareil ne doivent être confiées qu’à un installateur
agréé.

Danger!
Sur le modèle VEN, la température de sortie
au robinet peut atteindre 85 °C.

En cas d’anomalie

En cas d’anomalie, le fusible désactive automatiquement
l’appareil. L’origine de l’anomalie doit être déterminée et
supprimée par un installateur agréé avant de remettre
l’appareil en service. A ce sujet, lisez également le
chapitre 3.5 (suppression des anomalies) à la page 21.

Attention!
N’essayez en aucun cas de réparer l’appareil

gaine. Le fusible ne doit être remplacé que par
un installateur agréé!

A des fins de sécurité, vous pouvez mettre l’appareil
hors secteur en cas d’anomalie en désactivant le fusible
réseau. En cas de fuite, coupez immédiatement l’arrivée
d’eau froide de l’appareil. Dans tous les cas, contactez
votre installateur agréé pour qu’il supprime l’anomalie!

De Vaillant elektrische warmwatertoestellen zijn
gebouwd volgens de stand der techniek en de erkende
veiligheidstechnische regels. Niettemin kunnen bij
onvakkundig gebruik gevaren voor gezondheid en leven

Opgelet!
De apparaten mogen alleen worden gebruikt
voor de verwarming van drinkwater. Als het
water niet beantwoordt aan de specificaties
van de drinkwatermaatschappij kunnen
beschadigingen van het apparaat door
corrosie niet worden uitgesloten.

Opgelet!
Het Vaillant elektrisch warmwatertoestel
is een drukloos apparaat en mag alleen

met een lagedrukwaterkraan van Vaillant
geïnstalleerd worden.

2.1 Veiligheidsinstructies

De installatie van en eventuele reparaties aan uw
apparaat mogen alleen worden uitgevoerd door een
erkend vakman.

Gevaar!
De uitlooptemperatuur aan de aftapkraan kan
bij de VEN tot 85 °C bedragen.

In geval van storingen

Bij storing schakelt de zekering het apparaat
automatisch uit. De oorzaak van de storing moet door
een vakman vastgesteld en verholpen worden voordat
het apparaat weer in gebruik wordt genomen. Gelieve
hiervoor ook hoofdstuk 3.5
(Opheffen van storingen) op pagina 21 te lezen.

Opgelet!
Probeer in geen geval het apparaat zelf te
repareren. Neem ook niet de kap van het
apparaat eraf. De zekering mag alleen door
een erkend vakman vervangen worden!

Voor de zekerheid kunt u het apparaat in het geval van
een storing ook nog van het elektriciteitsnet isoleren
door de netzekering uit te schakelen. Gelieve in het
geval van ondichtheden onmiddellijk de koudwater­toevoer naar het apparaat te sluiten. Breng in elk geval
uw erkend vakman op de hoogte en laat de storing
opheffen!

Frost danger

The system is frost-protected as long as the VEN
appliance is connected to the power supply. For this
reason, it is important not to unplug the appliance from
the mains or disconnect it at the main circuit breakers
when there is a danger of frost.

Note!
As the frost-protection feature does not
cover the supply pipes or valve assemblies
connected to the appliance, you are
recommended to drain the system whenever
there is a danger of frost. Before doing so,
ensure that the appliance is unplugged from
the mains power supply in order to prevent
the system overheating and blowing the
safety fuse.

Modifications

Note that the user must not carry out modifications of
any type to the appliance itself or its power or water
supply.

Inspection

Furring can occur with water of certain types and with
certain water temperatures and levels of consumption.
If the water flow-rate drops noticeably, have the power­supply and water-inlet components examined by an
authorised service installer.

2.2 Use for intended purpose

These appliances are designed exclusively for the
heating of standard-quality water from the drinking­water supply, and for indoor home use only. Any
operation that does not conform to these conditions in
all resects counts as incorrect use. Neither the
manufacturer nor the supplier can accept any liability
whatsoever in these circumstances. Such operation is
entirely at the user’s own risk.
The definition of intended use includes observance of
the installation and operating instructions and
maintenance of the servicing and inspection schedules.

2.2 Doelmatig gebruik

De apparaten mogen alleen worden gebruikt voor de
verwarming van drinkwater conform de drinkwaterver­ordening en zijn alleen geschikt voor het huishoudelijke
gebruik in een gesloten ruimte. Een ander of daarboven
uit gaand gebruik geldt als niet doelmatig. Voor hieruit
resulterende schade is de producent/leverancier niet
aansprakelijk. Het risico draagt alleen de gebruiker.
Tot het doelmatige gebruik behoort ook het in acht
nemen van de bedienings- en installatiehandleiding
en de naleving van de onderhouds en inspectievoor­waarden.

Risque de gel

Inspection

Selon la qualité de l’eau, la température choisie et la
consommation d’eau, du calcaire se forme. En cas de

3 Operation

The rotating selector control fitted to the appliance
provides infinite non-stepped adjustment of the water
temperature.

3.1 Temperature selector

1 Frost protection

The water supply is protected from frost damage whenever
the VEN unit is connected to the power supply. For this reason,
it is important not to unplug the appliance from the mains or
disconnect it at the circuit breakers when there is a danger of
frost.

2 Warm

For reasons of hygiene, this setting (which corresponds to
about 40 °C) should only be used in special circumstances.

3 ”E”

This is the recommended setting (the control knob can be felt
to click into position) for normal hot-water needs (corresponds
to about 60 °C).

4Hot

This setting should normally be used only for special hot-water
requirements of brief duration (corresponds to about 85 °C).

For reasons of economy and hygiene (e.g. the danger of
Legionnaire’s disease), you are recommended to keep
the water-temperature adjusted to 60 °C (setting “E”).
The VEN electric storage water heater functions with
particular efficiency at this temperature, in full
conformity with the energy saving regulations. Furring is
also kept to a minimum. For this reason – and especially
if the appliance is installed in a hard-water area – the
energy-saving “E” setting should only ever be exceeded
for special needs and for the briefest time possible.

3.2 Energy-saving tips

Follow the advice given below and help to save energy.
Some useful tips:

● Always set the temperature to the level you actually

need. We recommend operating the appliance at
temperature-selector setting “E”. In most operating
circumstances, there is no need to carry out any
further adjustment to the valve assembly. When
opening the valve, merely adjust it to the maximum
hot-water setting.

Danger!
After drawing off any extra-hot water you
may require, do not forget to readjust the
system to its lower setting. Note also that if
the water-temperature is too high, the
following users are in danger of suffering
scald injuries and the appliance uses an
unnecessarily excessive amount of energy.

3 Bediening

De instelling van de watertemperatuur gebeurt via de
temperatuurkiezer aan het apparaat en kan traploos
worden ingesteld door deze te draaien.

3.1 Temperatuurkiezer

1 Vorstbescherming

Het water wordt bij aangesloten VEN beschermd tegen bevrie­zen. Daarom trekt u bij kans op vorst de netstekker niet uit en
maakt u de zekeringen in de elektrische leiding niet los.

2 Warm

Deze stand moet om redenen van hygiëne alleen bij speciale
noodzaak gekozen worden
(komt ongeveer overeen met 40 °C).

3 „E“

Aanbevolen instelling met merkbare rustpauzes voor de
gewone warmwaterbehoefte
(komt ongeveer overeen met 60 °C).

4 Heet

Deze stand moet indien mogelijk slechts korte tijd bij speciale
warmwaterbehoefte gekozen worden
(komt ongeveer overeen met 85 °C).

Om economische en hygiënische redenen (b.v. legionella)
raden wij de instelling van de watertemperatuur op
60 °C (stand „E“) aan. Hier werkt het elektrisch
warmwaterreservoir VEN zeer zuinig in de zin van de
energiebesparingswet en de kalkvorming wordt laag
gehouden. Daarom moet deze spaarstand „E“, met
name bij sterk kalkhoudend water, alleen bij speciale
noodzaak en indien mogelijk slechts korte tijd
overschreden worden.

3.2 Energiebesparingstips

U kunt eraan bijdragen energie te besparen. Daarvoor
de volgende tips:

● Stel altijd slechts die watertemperatuur in die u nodig

heeft. Wij raden aan het apparaat te laten werken met
de stand „E“ aan de temperatuurkiezer. Voor de
meeste toepassingsgevallen hoeft u dan niet meer bij
te regelen aan de waterkraan. Bij het openen van de
waterkraan deze gewoon instellen op de uiterste
warmwaterwaarde.

Gevaar!
Als u toch zeer warm water nodig heeft, denk
er dan vervolgens aan de waarde weer kleiner
in te stellen. Anders kunnen bij latere
gebruikers brandwonden ontstaan en het
apparaat zou onnodig veel stroom verbruiken.

3 Utilisation

Le réglage de la température de l’eau se fait en continu
à l’aide du sélecteur de température situé sur l’appareil.
Il suffit de tourner le bouton.

3.1 Sélecteur de température

Par conséquent, s’il risque de geler, ne débranchez pas
l’appareil et n’enlevez pas les fusibles de la ligne électrique

Pour des raisons d’hygiène, cette position ne doit être
sélectionnée qu’en cas de besoin particulier
(correspond à 40° C environ).

3 „E“

Réglage recommandé à enclenchement sensible pour la
consommation d’eau chaude normale (correspond à 60 °C
environ).

4 Bouillant

Cette position ne doit si possible être utilisée que brièvement
dans le cas d’un besoin d’eau chaude particulier (correspond à
85 °C environ).

Pour des raisons économiques et d’hygiène (par ex.
légionelloses), nous vous recommandons de régler la
température de l’eau sur 60 °C (réglage „E“). Le
chauffe-eau à accumulation VEN fonctionnera alors de
manière particulièrement économique conformément à
la loi sur l’économie d’énergie et la formation de calcaire
sera réduite. La position „E“ ne doit par conséquent être
dépassée qu’en cas de besoin particulier et si possible
très brièvement, notamment si l’eau est très calcaire.

3.2 Conseils en matière d’économie d’énergie

Vous pouvez vous aussi contribuer à économiser
l’énergie grâce aux conseils suivants:

● Réglez toujours la température de l’eau dont vous

avez besoin. Nous vous recommandons de régler
l’appareil sur „E“. Dans la plupart des cas, vous
n’aurez alors plus besoin de régler la température de
l’eau au robinet. Lorsque vous ouvrez le robinet,
réglez-le alors simplement au maximum.

Danger!
Si vous avez besoin d’eau très chaude, pensez
ensuite à régler la température sur un niveau
inférieur. Sinon, l’utilisateur suivant pourrait
se brûler et l’appareil pourrait consommer
beaucoup d’électricité inutilement.

3.3 Operation

Operation

The VEN unit activates automatically whenever the
temperature drops below that set at the selector control
(

1). In a similar way, the VEN unit shuts down
automatically whenever the temperature exceeds that
set at the selector control (

1).

Overflow

During operation, the expansion of the water in the tank
as it heats up results in some hot water dripping from
the swiveling outlet. This is a normal procedure with
open tanks and tightening the tap valve assembly will
not prevent it occurring.

Frost protection

The water in the tank remains cold whenever frost­protection mode is active (see figs. 3.1 and 3.2). A frost­protection system nevertheless prevents the VEN unit
freezing up when it is connected to a water tank.

Indicator light

This indicator lamp (2) lights up to show that the pre-set
water temperature has not yet been reached. The
indicator light goes out once the pre-set temperature is
reached. The heating system shuts down.

3.4 Servicing and inspection

Vaillant VEN electric storage water heaters are designed
to require virtually no maintenance. All internal compo­nents are protected from external influences. It is
sufficient just to wipe down the VEN unit occasionally
with a damp cloth – with a little water and mild
detergent if required.
Furring can occur with water of certain types and with
certain water temperatures and levels of consumption.
In the case of open appliances, this can lead to an
increase in pressure and – in extreme circumstances – to
irreparable damage to the appliance. Regular inspection
and descaling will prevent this happening. If the water
flow-rate drops noticeably, have the power-supply and
water-inlet components examined – and the VEN unit
descaled – by an authorised installer.

3.5 Troubleshooting

In the event of a fault occurring, disconnect the VEN
unit immediately by unplugging it from the mains power
supply. Have the fault rectified by an authorised service
installer only.

Do not attempt to repair the appliance
yourself under any circumstances.

3.3 Fonctionnement

Le VEN se met automatiquement en route lorsque la
température de l’eau réglée sur le sélecteur (

atteinte et il se désactive automatiquement lorsque la
température réglée est atteinte.

Surverse

Lors du chauffage, de l’eau chaude goutte par la sortie
inclinée en raison de la dilatation thermique. Ceci est
normal sur les chauffe-eau à écoulement libre. Il est
alors inutile d’essayer de bien fermer les robinets.

Protection contre le gel

En position de protection contre le gel (Fig. 3.1 et 3.2),
l’eau contenue dans le ballon reste froide. Lorsqu’il est
branché, le VEN est cependant protégé contre le gel par
un fusible.

Témoin d’avertissement

Le témoin (2) reste allumé tant que la température de
l’eau réglée n’est pas atteinte et s’éteint dès que la
température est atteinte. Le chauffage se désactive.

3.4 Maintenance et inspection

Les chauffe-eau électriques à accumulation VEN Vaillant
ne nécessitent quasiment aucun entretien. Toutes les
pièces intérieures sont protégées contre les influences
extérieures. Il suffit de nettoyer de temps en temps
votre appareil avec un chiffon humide, voire un peu
d’eau savonneuse.
Selon la qualité de l’eau, la température de l’eau
sélectionnée et la consommation d’eau chaude, du
calcaire se forme. Sur les appareils à écoulement libre, il
peut être à l’origine d’une augmentation de la pression
et, dans le pire des cas, détruire l’appareil. Une
inspection/un détartrage réguliers suffisent à éviter ce
problème. Par conséquent, en cas de diminution du débit
d’eau chaude, faites vérifier les composants électriques
et liés à l’eau et faites détartrer le VEN par un
installateur agréé.

3.5 Suppression des anomalies

En cas d’anomalie, débranchez le VEN en retirant la
fiche. Faites supprimer l’anomalie uniquement par un
installateur agréé.

N’intervenez en aucun cas personnellement
sur l’appareil.

Overloop

Bij het opwarmen druppelt er ten gevolge van de
warmte-expansie warm water uit de zwanenhals. Dit is
voor drukloze toestellen een normaal proces, dat niet
kan worden verhinderd door de aftapkraan vaster dicht
te draaien.

Vorstbescherming

In de stand vorstbescherming (afb. 3.1 en 3.2) blijft het
reservoirwater koud. De VEN wordt echter door een
vorstbeveiliging bij aangesloten reservoir beschermd
tegen bevriezen.

Signaallamp

De signaallamp (2) licht op als de ingestelde watertem­peratuur nog niet is bereikt. De signaallamp dooft als de
gekozen watertemperatuur is bereikt. De verwarming
schakelt uit.

3.4 Onderhoud en inspectie

Vaillant elektrische warmwaterreservoirs VEN vergen zo
goed als geen verzorging. Alle inwendige onderdelen zijn
beschermd tegen externe invloeden. Het volstaat als u
de VEN af en toe met een vochtige doek, evt. met zeep­water, reinigt.
Al naargelang de waterkwaliteit, gekozen watertempera­tuur en warmwaterbehoefte slaat er kalk neer. Dit kan bij
drukloze apparaten een drukstijging tot gevolg hebben
en het apparaat in het ergste geval onherstelbaar
beschadigen. Door een regelmatige inspectie/ontkalking
wordt dit vermeden. Laat daarom bij een vermindering
van de hoeveelheid warm water de elektrische en
watergeleidende onderdelen door een erkende vakman
controleren en de VEN ontkalken.

3.5 Opheffen van storingen

Bij storingen isoleert u de VEN van het net door de
netstekker eruit te trekken. Laat de storing alleen
opheffen door een erkend vakman.

Gevaar!
Voer in geen geval zelf ingrepen aan het
apparaat uit.

4.3 Wall-mounting of appliance

● The fixing elements (screws, plugs, etc.) used for

attaching the appliance to the wall should be selected
with the weight of the unit (see technical
specifications) and the characteristics of the wall in
mind. The electric storage water heater should be
attached to the wall in a vertical position.

● Ensure that the bracket is in a horizontal position

before fixing it to the wall. The two outer holes are
used for actual attachment, while the hole in the
middle is provided to make it easier to center up the
appliance.

● Fit the VEN electric storage water heater, with the

holes for wall-hanging, by lowering it onto the
bracket, with the connection inlets of the under table
appliance pointing upwards, and those of the table
top appliance pointing downwards.

4.3 Accrochage de l’appareil

● Les éléments de fixation (vis, tourillons, etc.) utilisés

pour accrocher l’appareil doivent être définis en
fonction du poids de l’appareil (voir caractéristiques
techniques) et des caractéristiques du mur. Le
chauffe-eau électrique à accumulation doit être
accroché à la verticale.

● Fixez le support à l’horizontale sur le mur. Pour cela,

utilisez les deux trous extérieurs. Le trou central sert
au centrage.

● Accrochez le chauffe-eau électrique à accumulation

VEN au support au moyen des ouvertures prévues à
cet effet par le haut de sorte que les manchons de
raccordement soit tournés vers le haut dans le cas
d’un appareil sous évier et vers le bas pour un
appareil sur évier.

4.3 Apparaat ophangen

● De bevestigingselementen (schroeven, pluggen enz.)

worden. Het elektrisch warmwaterreservoir moet
verticaal worden opgehangen.

● Bevestig de houder horizontaal aan de muur. Hiertoe

dienen de beide buitenste boringen, terwijl de middel­ste bedoeld is als hulp om centrisch uit te richten.

● Hang het elektrisch warmwaterreservoir VEN met de

ophangopeningen van boven aan de houder, zodat de
aansluitopeningen bij het apparaat onder tafel naar
boven en bij het apparaat boven tafel naar beneden
wijzen.

4.4 Kraanwerk

Opgelet!
Het Vaillant elektrisch warmwaterreservoir
mag alleen met een lagedrukwaterkraan
geïnstalleerd worden van Vaillant.

4.5 Filling the tank

When using the VEN unit for the first time (and
whenever it has been drained due to frost hazard, for
servicing or during work on the water-supply system),
the unit must be filled with water before being plugged
into the mains power supply.

Keeping the outlet clear

During operation, the expansion of the water in the tank
as it heats up results in some hot water dripping from
the swiveling outlet.
The low-pressure valve assembly with swiveling outlet
MUST be kept unobstructed. Do not fit items such as
hoses or spray-heads.

When a Vaillant low-pressure valve assembly
is in use, the hot-water tap outlet is opened –
with the cold-water outlet tap fully closed –
until the water flows at a regular rate.

If a low-pressure thermostatically controlled
valve assembly is fitted, the temperature
selector is turned as far as it will go into the
red zone and the tap outlet is kept open until
water flows at a regular rate.

4.6 Electrical connection

Do not connect the Vaillant VEN electric
storage water heater to the mains power
supply without first filling it with water.

● The appliance connection lead should be plugged into

a standard, correctly-installed wall socket (2 kW,
230 V~ AC). Do not install the appliance in a position
where it obstructs free access to the plug and socket.
The VEN unit is not designed to be hard-wired into
the electrical system.

4.5 Remplissage du ballon

Avant la première mise en service et après chaque
vidange du VEN, par exemple en raison du risque de gel,
lors de l’entretien ou de travaux sur l’installation d’eau,
remplissez le VEN d’eau avant de le raccorder au
secteur.

Dégagement de la sortie

Lors du chauffage, de l’eau chaude goutte de la sortie
inclinée en raison de la dilatation thermique.
La robinetterie basse pression avec sortie inclinée doit
rester dégagée. N’y raccordez aucun flexible ni filtre à
microbulles.

Sur la robinetterie basse pression Vaillant,
lorsque le robinet d’eau froide est
complètement fermé, le robinet d’eau chaude
s’ouvre jusqu’à ce que l’eau jaillisse en un jet
régulier.

Sur la robinetterie thermostatique à basse
pression, le sélecteur de température est
réglé sur le rouge jusqu’à la butée et le
robinet d’eau s’ouvre jusqu’à ce que l’eau
jaillisse en un jet régulier.

4.6 Raccordement électrique

Le raccordement électrique ne doit se faire
qu’une fois le chauffe-eau électrique à
accumulation VEN Vaillant rempli d’eau.

● Pour cela, insérez le câble du ballon dans une prise de

courant alternatif 230 V~ (2 kW) installée conformé­ment aux prescriptions. Une fois l’appareil monté, la
prise doit être accessible. Le VEN n’est pas conçu
pour être branché de manière fixe.

4.5 Vullen van het reservoir

Voor de eerste ingebruikname en na elke lediging van
de VEN, b.v. wegens vorstgevaar, onderhoud of bij werk­zaamheden aan de waterinstallatie, moet u de VEN
vullen met water voordat u de netstekker insteekt.

Uitloop vrijhouden

Bij het opwarmen druppelt er ten gevolge van de
warmte-expansie warm water uit de zwanenhals.
De lagedrukwaterkraan met zwanenhals moet vrij
blijven. Er mag geen slang noch een perlator
aangesloten worden.

Bij de Vaillant lagedrukwaterkraan wordt de
aftapkraan voor warm water bij volledig
gesloten aftapkraan voor koud water geopend
tot het water in een gelijkmatige straal eruit
loopt.

Bij de lagedruk-thermostatishe waterkraan
wordt de temperatuurkiezer tot aan de
aanslag op rood gezet en de aftapkraan voor
water geopend tot het water in een
gelijkmatige straal eruit loopt.

4.6 Elektrische aansluiting

Pas na het vullen van het Vaillant
warmwatertoestel VEN met water mag de
elektrische aansluiting worden uitgevoerd.

● Daartoe moet de kabel van het reservoir in een

reglementair geïnstalleerde aardingscontactdoos
met (2 kW) 230 V~wisselstroom gestoken worden.
Na de montage van het apparaat moet de stekker
toegankelijk zijn. De VEN is niet geschikt voor vaste
aansluiting.

5 Initial start-up

5.1 Putting the appliance into service

● Start by filling the appliance with water (see section

4.5, page 28).

● Plug the mains lead into a fuse-protected 230 V~ AC

power socket.

● Adjust the temperature selector to setting “E”.

Water should be seen to drip from the valve
assembly while the tank is heating up. This
indicator lamp (2) lights up to show that the
pre-set water temperature has not yet been
reached. The lamp goes out as soon as the
pre-set water temperature is reached.

5.2 Operation

● Adjust the temperature selector (1) to the marking

that corresponds to the desired temperature setting.

The maximum outlet temperature can be limited to
40 °C in order to prevent scald injuries. This setting is
highly recommended if – for example – there are small
children in the household.
Please see section 5.3 for further information on
activating the scald-prevention feature.

5 Mise en service

5.1 Mise en service de l’appareil

● Remplissez tout d’abord l’appareil d’eau (voir chapitre

4.5, page 29).

● Insérez la fiche dans une prise de courant alternatif

de 230 V~.

● Réglez le sélecteur de température sur „E“.

Lors du chauffage, de l’eau doit goutter
visiblement de la robinetterie. Le témoin
lumineux (2) reste allumé tant que la
température réglée de l’eau n’est pas atteinte
et s’éteint dès que la température est
atteinte.

5.2 Fonctionnement

● Réglez le sélecteur de température (1) sur la marque

souhaitée.

Pour des raisons de protection contre l’échaudage, la
température maximale de sortie de l’eau chaude peut
être limitée à 40 °C. Cette limitation est notamment
recommandée par exemple lorsque des enfants en bas
âge vivent dans le foyer.
Pour activer la protection contre l’échaudage, procédez
comme décrit au point 5.3.

markering van de temperatuurkeuze.

Ter bescherming tegen brandwonden kan de maximale
uitlooptemperatuur tot 40 °C begrensd worden. Deze
begrenzing valt met name aan te bevelen als er b.v.
kleine kinderen in het huishouden leven.
Als de verbrandingsbescherming geactiveerd wordt,
gelieve dan te werk te gaan zoals beschreven in 5.3.

5.3 Limiting the range of temperature settings

The turning range of the temperature selector can be
limited to prevent energy-saving setting “E” (approx.
60 °C) or the “Warm” setting (approx. 40 °C) being
exceeded.
The temperature-setting range must only be adjusted
by a qualified service installer, proceeding as follows:

● Pull the temperature selector knob (1) off.

● Pull the limiting ring (b) off the head of the

temperature selector knob (

1).

● Rotate the limiting ring (b) and align it with the

groove (d) that corresponds to a temperature-setting
limit of 40 °C or the groove (

e) for 60 °C. Push the

ring into the groove and onto the plate (

a) of the

temperature selector (

1).

● Push the temperature selector knob (1) and limiting

ring (

b) back into position, while ensuring that the

limiting plate (

f) lies inside the recess (g) in the

regulator spindle (

c).

5.4 Taking the system out of service

If the VEN electric storage water heater is to remain out
of service – in an unheated room – for an extended
period, it can be drained of water. Do not forget to
unplug the unit from the mains power supply before
draining it.

5.3 Limitation de la plage de réglage de la
température

La plage de rotation du sélecteur de température peut
être limitée de sorte à ne pas pouvoir dépasser la
position économique „E“ (60 °C environ) ou la position
„Chaud“ (40 °C environ).
La limitation des plages de réglage de la température ne
doit être confiée qu’à un installateur agréé qui
procèdera comme suit:

● Tirez le bouton du sélecteur de température (1).

● Retirez la bague de butée (b) du bouton du sélecteur

de température (

1).

● Tournez la bague de butée (b) et poussez l’encoche

(

d) pour limiter la plage de réglage de la température

à 40 °C ou l’encoche (

e) pour la limiter à 60 °C sur la

came (

a) du sélecteur de température (1).

● Poussez le bouton du sélecteur de température (1)

5.4 Mise hors service

Si le chauffe-eau électrique à accumulation VEN reste
hors service pendant une période prolongée dans un
local non chauffé, le ballon peut être vidangé – après
avoir retiré la prise.

5.3 Temperatuurinstelbereik begrenzen

dan kan – nadat de netstekker eruit getrokken is – het

6 Maintenance and repair

6.1 Maintenance

Vaillant VEN electric storage water heaters are designed
to require virtually no maintenance. All internal
components are protected from external influences. It is
sufficient just to wipe down the VEN unit occasionally
with a damp cloth – with a little water and mild
detergent if required. The appliance should be serviced
every three years. This procedure must only be carried
out by an authorised service installer. Note that more
frequent servicing (descaling) may be required if the
appliance is used in a hard-water area.

Danger!
Electrical hazard: the appliance must always
be disconnected from the mains power supply
before repairs or servicing are carried out.

6.2 Inspections

Furring can occur with water of certain types and with
certain water temperatures and levels of consumption.
In the case of open appliances, this can lead to an
increase in pressure and – in extreme circumstances – to
irreparable damage to the appliance. Regular inspection
and descaling will prevent this happening. If the water
flow-rate drops noticeably, have the power-supply and
water-inlet components examined – and the VEN unit
descaled – by an authorised service installer.

6.3 Troubleshooting

In the event of a fault occurring, disconnect the VEN
unit immediately by unplugging it from the mains power
supply. Have the fault rectified by an authorised service
installer only.

6.4 Spare parts

Please refer to our current catalogue for further details
of any spares that you may require.
Information is also available from members of our
dealer network and our direct Customer Service
Department.

The power connection lead must only be exchanged for
a new Vaillant-supplied replacement.

6 Entretien et réparation

6.1 Entretien

Le chauffe-eau électrique à accumulation Vaillant ne
nécessite quasiment aucun entretien. Toutes les pièces
intérieures sont protégées contre les influences
extérieures. Il suffit de nettoyer de temps en temps la
gaine extérieure à l’aide d’un chiffon humide ou avec de
l’eau savonneuse. L’appareil doit être révisé tous les
trois ans uniquement par un installateur agréé. Si l’eau
est très calcaire, un détartrage plus fréquent pourra
s’imposer.

Danger!
Attention à la tension électrique. Lors de tous
les travaux de réparation et d’entretien,
mettez l’appareil hors secteur.

6.2 Inspection

Selon la qualité de l’eau, la température de l’eau
sélectionnée et le débit d’eau chaude, du calcaire se
forme. Sur les appareils à écoulement libre, celui-ci
pourra être à l’origine d’une augmentation de la
pression et, dans le pire des cas, détruire l’appareil. Une
inspection/un entretien réguliers suffisent à éviter ce
problème.
Par conséquent, en cas de diminution du débit d’eau à la
sortie, faites vérifier les pièces électriques et liées à
l’eau et faites détartrer le VEN par un installateur agréé.

6.3 Suppression des anomalies

En cas d’anomalie, débranchez le VEN. Ne faites
supprimer l’anomalie que par un installateur agréé.

6.4 Pièces de rechange

Une liste des pièces de rechange éventuellement
nécessaires figure dans les catalogues de pièces de
rechange correspondants en vigueur.
Pour plus de renseignements, consultez les distributeurs
de la marque et le service après-vente.

La conduite de raccordement au réseau ne doit être
remplacée que par une conduite de raccordement
Vaillant.

6 Onderhoud en reparatie

6.1 Onderhoud

Het Vaillant elektrisch warmwaterreservoir vergt zo
goed als geen verzorging. Alle inwendige onderdelen zijn
beschermd tegen externe invloeden. Het volstaat als de
buitenmantel af en toe met een vochtige doek, evt. met
zeepwater, gereinigd wordt. Het onderhoud van het
apparaat moet elke drie jaar gebeuren. Dit mag alleen
worden uitgevoerd door een erkend vakman. Bij sterk
kalkhoudend water is eventueel een regelmatigere
ontkalking vereist.

Waarschuwing voor elektrische spanning. Bij
alle reparatie- en onderhoudswerkzaamheden
moet het apparaat van het stroomnet
geïsoleerd worden.

6.2 Inspectie

Al naargelang de waterkwaliteit, gekozen watertempe­ratuur en warmwaterbehoefte slaat er kalk neer. Dit kan
bij drukloze apparaten een drukstijging tot gevolg
hebben en het apparaat in het ergste geval onher­stelbaar beschadigen. Door een regelmatige inspectie/
ontkalking wordt dit vermeden. Laat daarom bij een
vermindering van de warmwateruitloop de elektrische
en watergeleidende onderdelen door een erkend
vakman controleren en de VEN ontkalken.

6.3 Opheffen van storingen

Bij storingen de VEN van het net isoleren door de
netstekker eruit te trekken. Laat de storing alleen
opheffen door een erkend vakman.

6.4 Vervangingsonderdelen

Een opsomming van evt. benodigde vervangingsonder­delen vindt u in de telkens geldende catalogussen van
vervangingsonderdelen.
Inlichtingen kunt u krijgen bij de groothandel en de
fabrieksklantendienst.

De netaansluitingsleiding mag alleen door een Vaillant
aansluitleiding vervangen worden.
