IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Read These Instructions Before Using This Vacuum System
Installation of this product should be made by a qualified, authorized central vacuum dealer. Before installing, using, or servicing this product, the installer should carefully read and fully understand the instructions including all warnings, cautions, and safety notice statements. To reduce the risk or personal injury, death and/or property damage, follow all instructions for proper installation, operation and maintenance. These instructions are not intended as a complete listing of all details for installation, operation and maintenance. If you have any questions concerning any of these procedures, STOP, and call an authorized central vacuum dealer.

When using an electrical appliance, basic precautions should always be followed, including the following:
WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK OR INJURY:
• Unplug and disconnect power before servicing.
• Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children.
• Use only as described in this manual. Use only manufacturer’s recommended attachments.
• Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If appliance is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, return it to an authorized servicing dealer.
• Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close a door on cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or corners.
• Do not run appliance over cord.
• Keep cord away from heated surfaces.
• Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.
• Do not handle system or appliance with wet hands.
• Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
• Do not use on wet surfaces.
• Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with an opening blocked. Keep openings free of dust, lint, hair and anything that may reduce airflow.
• Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts.
• Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.
• Connect to a properly grounded outlet. See grounding instructions.
• Turn off all controls before unplugging.
• Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids such as gasoline or use in areas where they may be present.
• Do not place or store anything on top of power unit- overheating of motor could occur.
• Any service work required under the top cover should be performed by an authorized service representative.
• Do not operate without filter/disposable bag in place (if applicable).
• Always turn off this appliance before connecting or disconnecting motorized nozzle.

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance must be grounded. If it should malfunction or break down, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This appliance is equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding conductor and grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.
WARNING
Improper connection of the equipment­grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock. Check with a qualified electrician or service person if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with the appliance. If it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician.
Models FC300, FC550, FC650, 260, 466Q, 566Q, DB3000, DB5000, DB7000 and DB8000 are for use on a nominal 120 volt circuit and have a grounding plug that looks like the plug in Fig. A.
Models FC1550, DB9000 & MaxAir dual motor units are for use on a nominal 240 volt circuit and have a grounding plug that looks like the plug in Fig. B.
Model 760 dual motor unit is for use on a nominal 120 volt circuit and has a grounding plug that looks like the plug illustrated in Fig. C.
Make sure that the appliance is connected to an outlet having the same configuration as the plug. No adapter should be used with this appliance.
CONNECT TO A PROPERLY GROUNDED OUTLET ONLY.
