1.2 Battery

Your XV6600 contains a rechargeable Li-ion polymer battery under the back cover. Battery power depends on whether you are talking on the phone, using the PDA functions or if the device is on standby.
Battery life estimates :
n Talk-time : 3 ~ 4 hrs,
n PDA : 15 hrs (approx.),
n Standby : 168 hrs (approx.),
n Data retention time : 72 hrs.
Started
Getting
The above times are based on using one function at a time. Interchanging between functions will vary the battery life.
Data Retention
It is vital to keep your battery charged. Because your XV6600 does not have a hard drive, all data and any new programs you install are stored in RAM. If the battery completely drains, any data or new programs you installed will be erased. Only the default programs on the device when you bought it will remain.
To prevent this kind of data loss, a portion of the main battery will keep your data safe for 72
hours if your device runs out of power. An additional battery, the backup battery, is designed
to keep your data safe when you remove the main battery. It will keep this data safe for
minutes.
Warning: To reduce risk of re or burns, do not disassemble,
crush, puncture, short external contacts, heat above 60 (140), or dispose of in re or water. Replace only with manufacturer specied batteries. Recycle or dispose of used batteries according to the local regulations.
WARNING : VERIFY THAT THE BACKUP BATTERY POWER REMAINS AT LEAST
AT 50%
OR ABOVE BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE MAIN BATTERY. THIS CAN
BE CHECKED BY TAPPING
SettingsSystem tab → Power.
20
Services such as e-mail and internet access that utilize a frequent or constant connection to access data may impact the battery supply of this device and may require frequent recharging to avoid depleting the battery supply. If the battery supply is depleted, applications, data and other information stored on this device will be lost and must be reinstalled. To avoid loss of applications, data and other information due to battery drainage, frequent battery recharging is recommended. Additionally, you may opt to regularly back up all applications, data and other information stored on the device for convenience of reinstallation.

4.1 Using ActiveSync

Using Microsoft  ActiveSync you can synchronize the information on your PC with the information on your XV6600. Synchronization compares the data on your device with your PC and updates both with the most recent information. With ActiveSync, you can:
n Keep Pocket Outlook data up-to-date by synchronizing your device with Microsoft
Outlook data on your PC.
n Choose to synchronize Inbox, Calendar, and Contacts with a server so that you have
the latest information, even when your computer is turned off.
n Copy (rather than synchronize) les between your device and your PC.
n Control when synchronization occurs by selecting a synchronization mode.
n Select which information types are synchronized and control how much data is syn-
chronized.
Installing ActiveSync
Before you begin synchronization, install ActiveSync on your computer from the
XV6600 Companion CD. ActiveSync is already installed on your
XV6600.
Creating a Partnership
After the installation is complete, the New Partnership Wizard helps you set up a partnership between your phone and your computer and/or a server so that you can start synchronizing information and customizing your synchronization settings.
Information
Synchronizing
By default, ActiveSync does not automatically synchronize all types of information. Use specic information types.

4.2 Synchronizing Information

This section provides an overview of the types of Outlook information you can synchronize. By default, ActiveSync does not automatically synchronize all types of Outlook information. Use ActiveSync options to turn synchronization on and off for specic information types.
Synchronizing Inbox
When you select Inbox for synchronization in ActiveSync, e-mail messages are synchronized as part of the general synchronization process. During synchronization, the following events occur :
n Messages are copied from the Outlook Inbox folder on your computer, or from a
Microsoft Exchange Server, to the Inbox folder on your XV6600.
n By default, when synchronizing Inbox information with your computer, you will receive
only messages from the last three days and the rst 500 bytes of each new message. You can also choose to download le attachments.
n The messages on your phone and on your computer are linked. When you delete a
message on your phone, it is deleted from your computer the next time you synchronize, and vice versa.
n Messages in subfolders in other e-mail folders in Outlook are synchronized only if
the folders have been selected for synchronization in the Inbox on your XV6600.
Messages are not received in your Inbox through synchronization. Instead, they are sent to your phone by way of your service provider. For more details, please see Message Features in Chapter 8.

4.3 Synchronizing Using an Infrared Connection

You can use an infrared connection to create a direct connection between your phone and another mobile device or computer quickly. This method is ideal for quickly switching between multiple devices since there are no cables or adapters to change. When creating a partnership, you must connect using infrared, a cable, or a cradle connection.
For more information about synchronizing using an infrared connection or other connection types, see ActiveSync Help on your computer.
Transferring Items Using Infrared
Using infrared (IR), you can also send and receive information, such as contacts and appointments, between two devices.
a. To send information:
Switch to the program where you created the item you want to send and
locate the item in the list.
Align the IR ports so that they are unobstructed and within close range.
Tap and hold the item, then tap Beam Item on the pop up menu.
You can send items, but not folders, from File Explorer. Tap and hold the item you want to send, and then tap Beam File on the pop up menu.

4.4 ActiveSync Errors

Whenever ActiveSync cannot successfully synchronize your information, it displays an error on your phone.
To view ActiveSync error information
Press the Action button when the error text is displayed. ActiveSync will then display more information about the error that occurred.
Some types of errors can interfere with automatic synchronization. If you suspect that a scheduled automatic synchronization has not occurred, you should attempt to manually synchronize your information. Workgroup Monitor Setup
The PC Monitor can be setup on a computer supporting up to 15 people. This eliminates the need for everyone to have their own PC running the PC Monitor software. See the PC Monitor requirements section above for details about what kind of PC is required for use as a Workgroup Monitor.
Special Instructions for Installing Workgroup PC Monitor
When choosing which user account under which you want to run PC Monitor, you should choose a user whose mailbox you wish to monitor. For example, if you run PC Monitor in Workgroup mode on your computer, and you are logged-in under your main Windows account, you should expect to monitor your mailbox in addition to the mailboxes of the additional users you add to the list. In the notes below, "you" refers to the person running PC Monitor.
You must have write permission in the Windows registry to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows Messaging Subsystem.
Each user whose mailbox you wish to monitor must have the Log On Locally right. Each user should also be a member of the Users (or Power Users or Administrators) group. You can check permissions of users and groups by using the Local Security Policy application located in the Windows Control Panel.
If you are using Terminal Services to add users, those users may need to be a member of the Administrators group.
When the installation nishes, you will be returned to the webpage. Click the Download Complete button and then you will be asked to setup an Individual or Workgroup Monitor. Select Workgroup Monitor and then click Next.
