This guide will walk you through
the necessary steps to complete,
verify, and perform ActiveSync.
This guide will help you install the Pocket PC Desktop
Software on your Windows

Insert the PPC6601 CD-ROM
into your computer's CD

One of two things will happen:
If auto-run is enabled on the computer, the CD
will launch and the Main Menu will appear.
If auto-run is not enabled, you must manually
launch the software by doing the following:
1. Double-click on MY COMPUTER.
2. Double-click on the CD drive for the
computer.
3. Double-click SETUP to run the program.

Before you start installing Outlook 2002 or ActiveSync,
please read through Important Installation Notes.
You can click on Main Menu to return to
the previous page at anytime.

Install Outlook 2002 and
ActiveSync.
If your computer does not have Microsoft Outlook
98 or later installed, click on Install Outlook 2002, then
click on Install. The installation wizard will guide you
through the process.
Once you have installed Outlook 2002 (if necessary),
click on Install ActiveSync, read the Product Details and
Installation Guidelines, then click on Install to begin
the installation. Follow the instructions on the dialog
boxes to install and congure ActiveSync on your PC.

Restart Your Computer.

After the software has been completely installed,
restart your PC. When your PC boots up, verify that
the ActiveSync icon appears in the Desktop Menu
Tray (the lower right hand corner of your desktop
screen).

Your PPC6601 comes with a USB cradle which allows
you to connect to an available USB port on your
desktop PC to run ActiveSync and to recharge your
device with the supplied AC Adapter.
To connect the USB cradle to your PC, insert
the USB connector attached to the cradle
into an available USB port on your PC.
To allow the cradle to recharge your device’s
batteries, insert the supplied AC adapter into
the adapter port on the cradle and plug the
other end into a standard power outlet.

You will be able to synchronize and recharge your
PPC6601 simultaneously using the USB cradle.

Insert Your PPC6601 into
the USB Cradle and Run

ActiveSync.
With the USB cradle attached to your PC, insert the
PPC6601 into the slot on the front of the cradle.
Once connected, ActiveSync will automatically detect
your device and prompt you to set up a partnership.
Follow the prompts on your PC to select your
partnership settings, synchronization method, and
synchronization settings. Once setup is complete,
click <Finish>. ActiveSync will open and begin
synchronizing the selected information between your
PPC6601 and your desktop PC.
If ActiveSync doesn’t launch automatically, right
click on the ActiveSync icon in the Desktop
Menu Tray and select Open Microsoft ActiveSync.
If it does not automatically recognize your
PPC6601, select File, and then Get Connected
to connect manually.

Helpful Hints
If you are having difculties with the software
installation, please refer to“Troubleshooting” in the
Section 11 of the User’s Guide located on the
installation CD and www.sprintpcs.com.
Never start an ActiveSync operation while your system
is booting up. ALWAYS wait until you see the ActiveSync
icon in the System Tray (see page 8) prior to starting an
ActiveSync operation.

the User’s Guide located on the Installation CD, or visit
