In an effort to better serve the varied application needs of our installing Dealers, Utica Boilers will be
implementing the following changes and recommendations to our UB90-100, UB90-200 and UB95M­200 Series Aluminum Condensing Boilers beginning immediately:

• DIELECTRIC UNIONS

Materials used on installations vary greatly. With some water conditions, mixed metallic piping
and fittings can cause a condition that will corrode the aluminum in the boiler and heating
system. The potential corrosion problem exists with any aluminum boiler design throughout
the industry. Due to inconsistent availability of dielectric fittings, ECR is taking the lead in the
boiler industry by supplying them with all of our aluminum condensing boilers to reduce
corrosion potential.

• ANTIFREEZE REQUIREMENTS

ECR recommends that only products listed in the attached addendum be used.

o Antifreeze must be the correct type for aluminum boilers and must also be maintained

properly.

o Antifreeze when combined with high temperatures can cause a chemical reaction which

may corrode the aluminum heat exchanger. By installing a primary/secondary piping

system the boiler is protected from varying flow rates which lead to high temperatures.
Refer to the attached antifreeze addendum for further details. Products other than those listed
may cause damage to the boiler or other aluminum components in the heating system and will
void the warranty if used. Improper application of approved antifreeze products or failing to
service and maintain approved antifreeze annually with documentation of ph, inhibitors and
other pertinent data will also void the product warranty.
