C
ONTENT OF CHANGES:
Measures against JAM5001 (Bridge conveying sensor 3 non arrival jam)
The leading edge of paper may stop at the roller at the DF side of the bridge unit in the conditions below with continuous output fed from
the standard cassette and ejected to DF-470, and JAM5001(Bridge conveying sensor 3 non arrival jam) may appear. Therefore, this is corrected.
Condition of occurrence: Affected model: 25cpm machine with DF-470 and AK-470installed. (PF is not installed) Paper size: Letter, A4
(fed widthwise).
Change: Time to remove the chattering of the bridge conveying sensor (conveying sensor 2) is dependent on existence of PF and there
is little margin in the time. Time to remove the chattering is changed from 20msec to 200mse to resolve. (The chattering is regarded as
arrival of next paper to make stand-by for next paper but J5001 appears after the jam detection timeout)
U605 is implemented to execute [Data clear].
Measures against image failure when adjusting the scanner magnification in the main scanning direction with U065.
Black streaks may appear on B/W copy after enlarging with U065 [Adjusting the scanner magnification]. Therefore, this is corrected.

Date: 22-08-2012
T
OPIC
:
The firmware is upgraded as follows.
C
ONTENT OF CHANGES
:
Corrective measure for the F356 error.
The F356 system error may appear after finishing sending the network fax with simultaneous print function from the network user. Thus, this is corrected.
Setting [Send and forward].
The destination of [Send and Forward] may be indicated on the status of the sending job when setting [Send and Forward]. Thus, this is so corrected that they are not indicated.
Corrective measure for the F515 error.
The F515 system error may appear if pressing the start key immediately after setting the A3 size original on the DP when setting the combine 4 in 1 and A5 size paper. Thus, this is corrected.
(This error appears when misalignment occurs depending on the timing of recognizing the original size.)
Corrective measure the "Margin" operation failure.
"Margin" in copy function is not operated if "Auto Image Rotation" is set to "OFF", thus this is corrected.
Corrective measure for the F000, F245 and F248 error. (The error may appear without print operating . ).
The error may appear by writing the unnecessary data when the received buffer size is smaller than the received data size due to the ASIC network processing failure. Thus, the receiving buffer size is expanded.
Correction of the translation in German.
Corrected the following translations in German.
- (Wrong) "Install" (Correct) "Installiert"
- (Wrong) "Keine Anwort" (Correct) "Keine Antwort"
- (Wrong) "Universalzuführ" (Correct) "Universalzufuhr"
- (Wrong) "Prüfen"  (Correct) "Qualität"
- (Wrong) "Druckvorgang läuft" (Correct) "Druck en"
Corrective measure for the F124 error when scanning.
The F124 system error may appear during scanning the original if pressing the start key from the sending screen after calling up the function from the registered program. Thus, this is corrected.
Change of the initial setting in the U285 [Setting service status page] for TA/UTAX only.
The initial setting of the maintenance mode U285 is changed from “OFF” to “ON” that was set up for TA/UTAX only. The print coverage is indicated on the service status page by setting ON in U285.
Change of the timer to enter into the drum refresh.
The timer since the last printing to enter into the drum refresh is changed as below.
1. The timer when returning from the sleep mode is changed from the fixed 60 minutes to the time depending on the temperature/humidity condition. (This change affects only when setting [Short] or [Standard] in the auto drum refresh mode. The fixed 60 minutes remains unchanged when setting [Long].)
2. The timer to enter into the drum refresh mode when recovering from the power save mode is changed to 90 minutes.
Change of the display of the black line cleaning guidance.
This is so changed that the black line cleaning guidance is displayed when detecting the black line even if turning on the black line reduction mode.
Corrective measure for the C1030 service call error [PF lift motor 2 error] (for the optional paper feeder only).
Although the service call error must appear normally by detecting the cassette lift error at continuous five times, that appears actually by detecting the cassette lift error at total five times. Thus, this is corrected.

TB 23 / Measure for the developing unit detection failure
2K3-C234/M
Date: 10-09-2012
T
OPIC
:
The detection PWB for the developing unit may be attached while being tilted countercl ockwise depending on structural variation because there is backlash between the detection PWB and its hol der at the main machine. If installing the developing unit into the main machine under the condition, the message “The developing unit is not installed” may not disappear, or the connector terminal at the developing unit rear side may deform due to contact with the connector holder on the detection PWB.
F
IELD MEASURE
:
Please correct the angle of the detection PWB in the main machine and the deformed connector terminal at the developing unit by following the procedure in next page and after.
C
ONTENT OF CHANGES
:
(Please refer to page 3 for detailed content of changes.)
Temporary measures: - Attached the detection PWB in the holder while aligning it rightwards.
- Checked if the main machine detects the detection PWB for the developing unit at factory. Permanent measure: - Added the rib to the backlash part at the holder attaching the detection PWB for preventing the detection PWB from tilting counterclockwise.

4. Release the 2 lock levers (yellow) and open the developing cover.
5. Release the lock lever (yellow) and then remove the developing unit.
6. Release the lock lever (yellow) and then remove the drum unit. * Refer to Service Manual for each proced ure for removing the parts.
2) Correct the angle of the tilted detection PWB at the machine inner side.
Surely wear the anti-static band.
Align the connector of the detection PWB rightwards by hand inserting from aperture in front of the main machine in order to equalize the gap (X) between the aperture of the holder and the connector. (NG figure at right side is the state that the upper gap (X) is narrow and lower gap (X) is wide. It means that the detection PWB tilts counterclockwise.)
3) Check the connector terminal at the developing unit rear side. If it deforms, correct its deformation by a tool like the needle nose pliers.
Surely wear the anti-static band.
4) Confirm if the connector terminal at the developing unit rear side does not deform after reinstalling / detaching the developing unit in the main machine.
5) Reattach the removed parts in the reverse procedures.

Date: 16-01-2013
T
OPIC
:
The firmware is upgraded as follows.
C
ONTENT OF CHANGES
:
Corrective measures for the wrong detection at the cassette.
(
Affected cassette: Cassettes in the main machine and PF-471, PF-470.)
This is corrected because the message [Error occurred at cassette X] may be displayed if leaving the machine operating after turning on the main power. (The message is displayed when the lift plate does not arrive at the detecting point within a certain time, and it can be reset by opening and closing of the cassette.) Cause: The upper limit detection of the cassette lift plate may fail by the misalignment between the software and hardware detections due to slight change of voltage output from the waiting detection sensor. Change: This is changed so that the lift plate is detected and lifted up at the following
timing only while the upper limit of the lift plate is currently always detected. While feeding the paper (same as the timing turning on the feeding clutch), when the cassette is opened and closed, when the main power is turned off and on, and when the machine recovers from the sleep mode.
Corrective measures for JAM0100 (Secondary paper feed request time out).
This is corrected because JAM0100 may occur when outputting while installing KYOcontrol.

T
OPIC
:
The firmware is upgraded as follows.
C
ONTENT OF CHANGES
:
Corrective measures for the DP stepping-out at low temperature environment.
The DP may step out at the low temperature environment because there is no margin to run the DP feed clutch and the DP registration
clutch. Thus, this is corrected.
Change: Changed to increase the electrical current to switch on the DP feed clutch and DP registration clutch when outdoor temperature
is 5 degree C and less.
Corrective measures for the failure of the toner gage display.
The remaining toner amount gage is slowly reduced and then suddenly changed from 30-40% to 5% of the remaining toner amount. Thus,
this is corrected.
Corrective measures for the threshold value display failure of the origina l size detection at the maintenance mode U099.
Although the setting of the threshold value used for the machine control is shifted depending on the existence of the DP, the threshold value of the judged original in the U099 always indicates the one without the DP. Thus, this is corrected so that the setting threshold value for installing the DP is indicated when installing the DP. (Actual operation controls by the threshold value for installing the DP when installing the DP.)

:
The paper jam J9000/J9200/J9410 (Note1) may occur due to the following causes. Thus, the following are changed.
Note1: J9000  No paper feed from DP.
J9200 DP registration sensor non arrival jam. J9410 DP timing sensor stay jam.

-A-
The load by getting narrow the paper path due to the contact between the original stopper and the rib of the DP top cover may be applied to the original conveying when feeding the original stack from DP. As a result, the DP motor may step out and it may cause the phenomenon in the left.
Corrective measures for the cause A-
1) The following are changed to reduce the original stack feeding by the DP forwarding pulley.
-Weakened the torque of the torque limiter in the DP paper feed roller ass'y (No.1) from 500gf to 360gf .
-Disused the spacer in the DP paper feed roller ass'y (No.1) according to the above change.
2) The following is changed to secure the sufficient paper path even if the original stopper contacts the rib of the DP top cover.
-Partly cut the shape of the original stopper in the DP paper feed roller ass'y (No.1).
Corrective measures for the cause A, B-
3) The firmware is upgraded to increase the electrical current for the smooth original conveying from DP.

-B-
The load by bumping the single original with the upward curl against the DP paper feed roller may be applied to the original conveying. As a result, the DP motor may step out and it may cause the phenomenon in the left.
J9000 -C-
If the original detection actuator is located toward the machine front side depending on the parts variation, the nopaper feed jam J9000 may occur that is caused by the actuator riding on the DP original sensor.
The following are changed to locate the original detection actuator toward the machine rear side.
Temporary measures
Added the shim (No.3) to the DP's fulcrum part at the machine front side.
Permanent measures
Changed the shape of the DP top cover (No.2).
Page 3

Page 61
2/5
Mechanism of the phenomenon A occurrence-
Change 1: Change of the DP paper feed roller ass'y (No.1)
Mechanism of the phenomenon B occurrence-
The original stopper cannot be pushed up due to the narrowed paper path when the original stopper contacts the rib of the DP top cover. Accordingly, the original stopper presses down the top paper of the original stack and the top paper bending at the upstream side hangs with the neighboring parts. As a result, the motor may step out due to the load.
(When conveying the original stack)
The original stopper is not riding on the rib of the DP top cover.

DP: blurred characters at about 35mm from the paper rear end
T
OPIC
:
When the DP rises and the heights of the DP front and rear sides differ depending on the use situation of users, The nip timing of the original from the DP conveying roller to the DP exit roller might be shifted and the original might be bent. Accordingly, the bent original vibrates when passing from the nipped position of the DP conveying roller and the scanned characters might be blurred at about 35mm from the paper rear end. (The above phenomenon might easily occur when the originals are printed on thin paper because of low stiffness.)
